it sounds like half of BRFC crapped there pants when Nicko posted that.

This day was bound to come sooner or latter. Would rather its now than mid season.

My pants are intact but anyone who says they're not concerned at the possibility of Brad leaving should consider how important it has been for Rovers to have as consistent a goalkeeper as him. I still wouldn't swap him for another keeper in the Premier League.

We said exactly the same about Mark Hughes leaving, it doesnt make it any easier...

I'm sorry, but we are being treated like crap by the media and other clubs atm, and the club/board isnt exactly doing allot to stop this!

The club needs to be keeping the fans better informed, and we need to be doing a whole lot more with the money we have in the transfer market.

If we carry on with this ignoring of the basics for a further 2 years, we will continue loosing our better players, and be linked with lesser players...

When Paul Ince joined, i thought we would be rid of some of this, with his agressive attitude, but the simple fact of the matter is it has never been worse than right now for this club. We are having Friedel, Samba, Bentley, Cruz linked with moves away, and having poor players linked with us... Are we a division one club that Ince is taking over, or a Premier League top 7 club!?

For gods sakes, Ince and the board, get a grip! Do something, before the damage gets worse...

Edit: Just to add, Mr Williams said he wants this club/requires the new manager to take this club forwards and improve on last year.

I can tell you for certain that if we let all three of Bentley, Cruz and Friedel leave, and dont make AT LEAST 5 new signings (GOOD ONES), we will be making major strides backwards!

Im not saying people shouldnt be concerned and i totally agree Brad has been our most important player in recent times. However eventually we would have to get a new keeper to replace him. i would rather he stayed but if Ince doesnt want him im not going to question him hes paid to make these decesions.

Write a letter of complaint? Dear Members of the Associated Press. Please stop linking our players to other clubs, its disrespectful and it hurts our feelings?

The club needs to be keeping the fans better informed, and we need to be doing a whole lot more with the money we have in the transfer market. and how, with a club our size do we do things in the transfer market....we buy low and sell high. Its how a club our size survives.

Still just speculation boys and girls. Its silly season.

FACTS we have - Rovers have a new manager and backroom team, we have sold nobody so far - Not even Mr 'Im leaving' Bentley. We have a new club shop and we have an extra £3m in our kitty.

Friedel may well be linked with other clubs but unless it is crazy money for a man of his age then i cannot see it happening.

Future is bright, future is Blue & White.

Nicko give us the full details please. Stop teasing the board with the Friedel rumours

Good afternoon rovers fans, As you can guess I'm yet another villa fan, I've been keeping tabs on this thread (as a guest) due to the Villa-Bentley connection,

This afternoon one of our non-executive directors (who regularly chats on our forums) made a post which he now regrets, In todays tabloids there are several articles regarding the aquisition of David Bentley for a fee of around £10M- a price at which the papers are laughing at, Our director is saying that our bid was actually a lot higher than that and it's the highest bid that you guys have had to date. (This also confirming we have actually put a bid in)

I was just wondering whether Nicko had some info with regards to this?

I agree with most of your posts with regards to the price of the player and also valuate him at higher than £10M

Good luck with the forthcoming season - Paul Ince is an excellent replacement for Mark Hughes

It's an interesting one Simon. I'm wondering if Villa are the ONLY club to make a bid for him at the moment, in which case it would obviously be the highest. I'm not sure if any other official bids have been received for the player.

And ronin, you avatar really matches this news about Big Brad

I think it matches how the summer has gone so far, not just Brad!!!!!!

Still, it can only get better, glass half full and all that ;)

He won't be being paid by us much longer if he makes decisions like that. ;)

it's the highest bid that you guys have had to date.

We've already had your lot on the Bentley thread quoting this Director bloke and his very quick retraction.

Your board don't know what offers have been made for Bentley, only ours do, that's what makes the selling club's position so great when it comes to such an in demand player. :rover:

DAVID BENTLEY - Villa will go to £15 million if Barry leaves...that day has not yet dawned. That is still £2 million short of the fee needed. Tottenham are currently trying to sell players to raise that cash. This is not a quick process.

BRAD FRIEDEL - With respect, I'm not going into full detail on what I am saving for the paper tomorrow. Give me a break. I have told you that there is a lot going on with it. Firstly, there is definite interest from two clubs who are both talking money. Secondly, Rovers want a new keeper. I would imagine they will want to know who the replacement is before they sell. I would now say it is likely that Brad will leave, but those hurdles have to be crossed.

SIGNINGS - You have been told a couple of the names that I know are being actively pursued. I know some additional background on Castillo but that will keep just now.

The only reason he regrets it is because he has posted a few hundred times over 3 different forums. What he said has spread like wildfire and everybody trying to question him, Martin o'neill trys very hard to keep his cards close to his chest, believe me he lets nothing out. For one of his directors to let this slip is very unlike the villa management team

So... Aston Villa, Tottenham now? Baby steps, Mr. Bentley?

Good to see Williams holding out for a massive fee, I highly doubt David Bentley's asking price will be lower in one year.

He wants to play in the champions league and with it looking like none of them want him, plus the clubs being linked won't achieve it i can predict if he moves on he will come out with the same comments again at the end of next season.

Rumour going around, that Wardle has left City because Hughes banned him from training

? wardle the director who stepped down yesterday? what would he do at the training??

anyway. ok. so i guess friedel will go and x will come in. im a bit torn on that really. on one hand i REALLY dont want him leaving just now because there is SO much going on with new manager and coaches. we need the old ones in a time like this. i think tugay and brad can be very important this season (outside the pitch for tugay) because they know rovers better than anyone else.

then again if we get say 2.5 million for him. thats not too bad for a man with just a couple of good seasons still in him. i very much question the clubs chasing him though, and it does not sound like hughes to buy old players. he must think management for sure??

bentley i think should go but im not sure anyone will come in with a bid of 17 mill. certainly not one of the CL clubs. if i was ince i would not let him go to either of the top 5-10 clubs. they are all equal to us, and will not break into the top 4 any time soon and certainly not on a regular basis. any of them could be the new bolton for all i know. he should stay beceuse his argument of europe simply is not valid with any of those clubs. even if everton and villa are in uefa this year, who knows where they are next?

roque stays.

castillo and larsson. im not jumping up and down in excitement, but they could be super.

Hows about we wait to see who the replacement keeper is before we get the noose out.

At least Ince & co are showing a bit of foresight on this one....if we waited for brads contract to run out what sort of a replacement could we afford?! not a very good one!!

As gutted as i am on this i think its the sensible thing to do...

FACT. DB, has stated he wants to play European football.

FACT, he is still here.

FACT, Nelson, Samba, Warnock all staying.

FACT, extra 3 mill in kitty.

FACT, Everything else is speculation.

FACT, Ince needs every body, and I mean every body, pulling in the same direction, if we are going to maintain the status the club have at present.

Selling Brad would serve no valid purpose in that quest, unless Brad has stated to Ince, that he thinks the time is rite. Which I doubt.

Brad himself stated not to long ago, he thought he had another two years at the top, barring injury.

:D
