Also i named my Bulldog after Friedel so i would be really annoyed if Ince let him go!!

As I would having a rabbit called - Roque Bentley-Hughes

It's not even like I can change his name as all the children know him as Bentley and he comes when you call him.

OK finally read it all through.

Nicko are you related to Beelzebub??? LOL you certainly are bloody providing some dark news here!

I would not be happy to Friedel leave, he's a serious spoke in the Rovers wheel. Even if we get 2.5M who the hell do we get to replace him?? He's easily one of the top 3 goalkeepers in the league. If he goes what do you reckon the rest would say? how much more would it cost to replace him 5M + it makes no sense at all complete madness.

We have next to no cash we cannot afford to waste money on a GK when we already have one of the best, he's easily got at least one more year to go minimum!!

Whoever takes over at utd will always have the "your no alex ferguson" criticism. Can you imagine the reaction on this board if on the opening day of the season mr "your no brad friedel" makes a balls up! As i for one will be shouting it out, absolutely no good reason to do this and certainly no suitable replacement

one the sidenote Luton will have to start 30 points behind this season.

it could be worse for us than selling a player or two :)

Personally I consider what the football league has done to Luton is a disgrace. Ok I do not know all the facts - but it seems a bit harsh to me for any club to be punished for going broke. Football money does not filter down to the lower clubs sufficiently for lower divison clubs to operate properly.

Nicko's comments on this story would be interesting to hear. when you consider the top 4 are millions in debt - yet able to continue - but the smaller clubs who are also in debt but NOT anyway near the same amount get punished when they go into administation. I think that what has happened to Luton is not only bad for them but football as a whole.

Any club could go into administration at any time for what ever reason - I wonder how close Rovers were to doing so before Jack Walker.

I can scarce believe what I'm reading there...Friedel makes an immense contribution to us which has surely many times in the past gained us 2.5 million a season in points saved raising our league placing and prize money. I don't see any sense in selling such an asset so cheaply if he has two more seasons like the one he just had or even close.

Agree completely. It would be like we would be loosing and arm.

Exactly. This is not the place that Ince needs to put his stamp on the club. He will likely have the opportunity to replace Brad with a new keeper in a season or two...why now? People are commenting that he will break down in the coming years, but can't we just phase him out in a season or two (esp. if we are currently tracking possible replacements that we can afford)? I'm more concerned that we won't find a keeper who can find to fill his boots. Robinson!? - (thanks Nicko, I'll rest now). Let's just keep our best player.

Why the hell is Borat on that?

I think it's a shocker that Luton have been hit twice, very unfair. The offences are different, so you could argue that there are two penalties and two punishments.

But surely the current regime should not be handicapped by the previous one's shambling dealings and strange accounting methods.

There was a time when clubs in trouble got help from the PFA. Now they get booted from all sides.

I could understand Leeds United being hit for trying to get round rules - and keeping the same people in charge.

But surely if a club is to be taken over and re-born then they do not deserve this.

Would love to see shay given back at the club.not sure how old he is now tho.its utter madness to sell friedel, unless u replace him with a talented 22 year old or sumthing like that.at 37 keepers stil go strong.keepers realy peak in their mid 30's.of all the positions,we need to look at,we discussing a new keeper.shocking! Even when hughes were here,he didnt do much in solving that attacking mid position.it seemed the only people who noticed that, was the fans.

I agree with what happened to Leeds, they 'abused' the rules. I think the power of the media should go to work on this. We are all football rivals and want our own team to be the best. We like other teams to be beat by playing the sport - not by 'legal abuse'. Luton have even been told that if they appeal they will be thrown out of the league.

If any of our players go to City I say fleece the slimy Thaksin for every ill-gotten penny.

Ask for £25M for Friedel. (OK they can have the Axe for £10,000)

As for players need sorting out? Why.

We have no players with less than 2 years on their contract and none have handed in a transfer request . Williams said we didn't need to sell so what needs sorting out?

Say what you lile about Roberts but I believe he actually had the decency to formally requested a transfer at one point, something Mr Bentley or any other player should be doing if he wishes to leave the club.

People are saying 2.5 million is too good to refuse for a 37 year old.

Well who would replace him and at what price, and how effective would he be? We definitely wont get a better keeper than him so best we hope for is someone similar and I doubt we would get someone at that price, so why change something IF IT AINT BROKE?

All the money in the bank isnt worth proven quality. Simple as.

Nicko,

Does the Friedel thing have anything to do with our new keeper coach, Eric Steele, coming in?

I gather he is credited with nurturing Joe Hart into a promising young player (and am I right in thinking he is still stalling on a new contract too?? makes me think...)

Do you think there is a chance we are after a swap or getting him on the cheap? (swap seems unlikely as Hart would be worth fair bit, but surely as sellers we'd be in the position of power)

This is all theoretical of course, and for the record I'd gutted if Friedel left.

I personally think Hart is way over-rated and havent seen anything to suggest he even has the potential of Robinson who is now being crushed after a few mistakes. Problem with the media in England is they hail every player that breaks through as the next best thing and OVERHYPE them bigtime.

we'll be linked with playgirls ian walker or russel hoult next, utterly depressing

Sex scandals

Hoult, a married man, has on a number of occasions been the subject of public revelations concerning his sexual conduct. In 2000 he was fined £300 for kerb crawling.[16] He was also cleared of sending indecent letters to a 15-year old girl after his lawyer told magistrates that they were "No worse than "saucy seaside postcards".[17] In 2005 he was revealed to have sent 10 nude photographs of himself to his mistress and in January 2007 he was suspended by West Bromwich Albion after footage of him involved in an orgy was leaked onto the Internet allegedly with him wearing a club polo shirt

Aston Villa seem to want every keeper in the Premier League so it wouldn't surprise me if it's them considering they don't have a goalkeeper. I've got a feeling that Friedel will stay with Blackburn considering his age and his spot as number 1 keeper for us plus the fact he see's Blackburn as his second home.

I see where you are coming from with regards to Eric Steel, Ince may consider Friedel would want to be the keeper coach etc. But I am wondering if it is due to his friendship with chowdrey - can a player have a close friendship with the owner?

IMO friedel is the best keeper in the prem - but his age is against him and therefore against Rovers. We do not know if he has said to Ince, something like 'I am finding it hard - get somebody else in quick - try and get some money for me which will help the club.'

Maybe Ince thinks Friedel is a threat to his position as manager - Does he want a Mr Rovers - Friedels club etc. What if Brad Friedel has said that he would like another payoff to help with whatever he wants to do when he retires - Would any of us deny him that.

Don't forget there has just been a close season - without training - maybe Friedel has said his body cannot do it anymore.

As much as I would not like to see Brad Friedel not in goal at rovers - the reality is oneday it will happen.

Even if he has asked for a transfer - which I doubt - I would not boo him (like what happens to other ex-rovers) when he returns to ewood park in goal for the other team - but I bet others would.
