Aston Villa seem to want every keeper in the Premier League so it wouldn't surprise me if it's them considering they don't have a goalkeeper. I've got a feeling that Friedel will stay with Blackburn considering his age and his spot as number 1 keeper for us plus the fact he see's Blackburn as his second home.

arent villa after guzan the other american goalie, so maybe they want friedel to bed him in for a couple of years?

IMO friedel is the best keeper in the prem - but his age is against him and therefore against Rovers. We do not know if he has said to Ince, something like 'I am finding it hard - get somebody else in quick - try and get some money for me which will help the club.'

is there anyone who really think he might have said that?? its like "i dont care to fight anymore. retire me before i do it"

he cant have said that. there is no evidence anyone want him out. as of now all we know is that some club want him IN. if rovers dont want to sell,he will stay. if brad REALLY love rovers so much, then he wont leave even if the club let others talk to him.

in the end its all down to what friedel wants.

All I am trying to say is we do not know completely what is going on behind the scenes.

People would have a valid arguement suggesting that even though he might be 37, £2.5m would get you anywhere near replacing him.

However, in another 12-24 months neither will the absolutely nothing minus two years of his salary.

And what Ince wants. Bentley wants out but we aint letting him go by the looks of things. Down to the manager I feel and then up to Friedel if he wants to leave or not.

Who's to say its not more of a case of Brad saying to Ince "bugger me gaffer I is getting old now, I can't be playing every bloody game me forms dropping...... "

Crikey..... He must have into either Ali G or Eddie Grant over the summer!

Friedel is a fans favorite and indispensable to BRFC. It would be a huge mistake for Ince to sell him, he's one of the best keepers in the league by a long chalk.

I wouldn't even sell him for silly money, the goal keepers position is one of the most important positions on the pitch and the amount of points Brad earns us each season is of serious value.

I cant see him wanting to leave as he loves the club, I really hope he hasn't had a change of heart.

As for Luton Town, i thought they were harshly dealt with. I wonder how their fans or feeling!

This is all so bizare. In my mind, the only better keeper in the Premier League right now is Cech. David James and Robert Green have had fantastic spells in recent years, but are far too erratic and error prone. Van Der Sar has the worst kicking I've ever seen, which puts him behind Friedel. Last season he made a couple of mistakes, one or two more than in a regular season. At 37, he doesn't seem to be showing any signs of declining in terms of fitness nor in his all-round game. Making one or two mistakes is not him losing his magic. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that I reckon he could go for another two or three season yet, should he wish to.

Even if he didn't want to continue after next season, selling him now would be a huge mistake, unless Ince had a VERY good replacement already lined up, which I doubt he does. £2.5m isn't good money for Friedel, he'd be worth taht for his impact next season alone. He's loyal and genuinely seems to love the club. We shouldn't be looking at forcing him to move on.

Right now, the only keeper available who is even fit to clean Friedel's boots is Antti Niemi at Fulham. But he's in his 30's now as wel and hardly a long term replacement.

Sorry, but of a disjointed rambling, but it sums up my feelings in light of just finding out that Friedel might be on his way out!

So if the 'big clubs' have their way. Were going to be without Friedel, Bentley and Cruz next season...?

Along with loosing our manager, how could this summer get any worse...

The fact that the manager is looking to bring 1 or 2 new faces in, just goes to show something is really trully wrong with the club!

I thought we had £10 million kitty + Sparky compo + £3 million from trustees + whatever money we might get from selling Bentley...

Where has all this money gone...? Surely we need to be bringing in more than 2 faces...?

Maybe a case of The Lord giveth.... the lord taketh away... ;)

As I would having a rabbit called - Roque Bentley-Hughes

It's not even like I can change his name as all the children know him as Bentley and he comes when you call him.

 Christ, he must really like the name.........

I agree, this is getting silly now. Just three months ago we had this from Brad about how great he feels:

Brad - I'll play for ever...

I don't believe for one minute he has suddenly deteriorated so badly in his health or his fitness.

All we know is that clubs are interested in Friedel, and that a couple of clubs are prepared to make a bid. There's no harm in that, all clubs buy other clubs players that's how football works.

All it will take to kill alll of this speculation dead is for Brad or Ince to say he's going nowhere and all will be forgotten in an instant.

I personally don't believe Brad would leave if it was his own decision after all he has said about the club. I don't think Hughes going will make any difference, Brad has always said Rovers is his club, so regardless of manager the CLUB will always come first.

Let's not panic 'til there is something to panic about...!!

At the risk of going off topic - One of the children asked me yesterday what Bentely was doing to the plant pot. I looked out of the window to see him having rather too much fun than one should with a plant pot! It was at that point the lesson moved on and I ignored the child!!!

I think that letting friedel go at this stage unless the guy coming in is breathtakingly good (and he won't be because that costs too much) is managerial suicide for Ince. How to turn the majority of fans against you in one fell swoop. You haven't convinced us of anything yet and then you decide to get rid of Mr Popular himself. You might not like him but we do and we'll still be here when you have entered the Rovers history books. Probably a very short chapter. I understand the reasons why some are saying this could be a good time to sell but I don't think the majority of us believe tham.

I bet Sam wouldn't have let him leave gumboots! ;)
