tony gale's mic
This makes absolutely no sense on any level. If this was a signing for MK Dons it may have been an okay buy, at a push, as although he hadnt set the world on fire at Cardiff in the Championship he maybe could have done it in League One. RibbleValleyRover
OMFG Fowler??? Great player he was but he is totally past it now? We have plenty of Strikers so why have we gone for him? Dear god, don't tell me he is being brought in to replace Roque...
Kai
Robbie Fowler... it cannot be in any kind of coaching capacity surely? During his time playing he was frequently described as one of the worst 'trainers' (during training) ever. This. has. to. be. some. kind. of. joke. surely. nicko
For the record I'd still treat this story as I would any other red top 'exclusive.' Yup.
broadsword
Not too bothered about Fowler as surely he won't be our main signing, but getting rid of Friedel is complete idiocy, the man is a rock doesn't want to leave and we don't have to sell. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!

Ozz
Brad out...replaced by Fowler...I never knew Robbie was a keeper. Shows what little I know about football. Still, they say keepers get better with age.

RibbleValleyRover
It must mean that its a likely one of our current strikers must be leaving. Its madness though as our current strikers are better than a clearly well past it Fowler, even Roberts. Nicko, is Fowler being seen as Roque's replacement??? bellamy11
Well I'm gutted, but we have to treat this as the Jeffers news of two years back. We've not paid anything for him, he won't be on big wages, so if it fails, it fails. No biggie. I'm just really disappointed after allowing myself to get caught up in last night's hullabaloo. tony gale's mic
The only thing I will say positive is that it's not like we're paying a transfer fee for him, and I'm guessing his wages at this age mightn't be so bad. So we're probably not losing very much by signing him. But it's an extremely worrying sign.
RibbleValleyRover
If this is the calibre of signings we wil be making under Ince then i am really, really worried!
PAFELL
I did say it was a stunner. When I got a call on this I thought I had been taken back in time about ten years. The approach was made official yesterday. Fowler had started training with Cardiff for the new season but it is an open relationship, he could have stayed on a pay-as-you-play basis or left. It is a shock because I am not sure he is terribly fit, but he is coming up to do the normal 'tests' that players do. You could say it was brave by both Paul Ince and Fowler. In Ince's case there is bound to be some howling and it is either genius or madness. The new manager obviously trusts his own opinion. To be fair to him I think some of his other targets are very imaginative - the Mexican, the Ecuadorian and a few others who I will keep back for now. In Fowler's case he has walked out on a club for the chance of a short-term contract at Rovers. He has the money, so he has the choice. But he could still have taken the easy life. I would expect Fowler to be at Blackburn for training today. That was the plan last night. Unless he has been on here to read the reaction... He may walk through the doors at Ewood Park - but he has yet to past the fitness tests - medical etc. It is funny how people did not complaign about Mark Hughes when he signed at 36 years old - Fowler is only 33 years old. As you say it is either a mad move or genius - but not knowing Ince's thinking on this we do not know. Personally I consider it is a strange move to say the least ( I'm being polite) - only time will tell if it is good or bad.
BRFC95
13/1 for Rovers to get relegated on Betfair. It's looking tempting.......... There you go, Fowler is a signing for the future. Who said Ince was stupid?

Manchester Blue
Friedal out (..apparently)..Fowler in WHAT A JOKER WE NOW HAVE AS A MANAGER! I'm disappointed but mainly due to the hope that it was a genuinely big signing but I do think the people jumping off cliffs are being ridiculous. He isn't playing in goal so why are people banging on this Friedel out Fowler in thing.
Alan75
To be fair we are not in the bottom three - YET. Hope that quote doesnt come back to haunt us.

Its early days i agree, but if you look at it Ince is bringing in someone who is clearly past it and in a position where we have plenty of players already so you have to be worried. Bobby G
Mark Hughes signed for us when we were in the Championship! There is a whole of a lot difference between that and signing for a side that has finished in the top 10 for the past few years and made Europe in 2 of the last three years and who in the strikers department has Santa Cruz and Benni, as well as Roberts and Derbs, of which any one leaves then the replacement must be someone BETTER for God's sake. You get a non-Premiership manager and his signings will probably be the same!
