I'm not overly happy about the news at the moment. Brad Friedel aside is the Robbie fowler signing any worse than when we signed Dickov?

Yes! Absolutely incomparable as individuals. Dickov had drive determination and a cussed desire to win. Fowler has not possessed more than a thimbleful of those qualities in the last decade.

Hughes did sign Jeffers. But then again people have very short memories and would rather moan like old bloody women

And who says Brad is leaving bar tabloid hacks......well it must be true

Hughes also made lots of good signings too.

And noone says Brad is leaving, but the our resident "tabloid hack" is saying that Ince is thinking of selling him and he's usually on the money...

Really struggling to get my head around this. I just cant see what value Fowler can bring us. He's been past it for about 8 years! Perhaps we're a housing tycoon or 2 short around the Ewood area. Why not go for Steve McManaman as well? Who's next....Gazza?

Thats it! Fowler is worth a fortune...Nicko had the wrong property tycoon lined up for buying the club, it isn't Choudry it's Fowler...he has just insisted on a playing deal as part of the buyout. (It is what I would do if I was buying Rovers!)

:rover:

Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale was philosophical about Fowler's decision and told BBC Radio Wales: "We signed him last year with a year's option but at this stage in his career it's understandable that he accepts an offer to go to the Premier League.

"We have to thank Robbie and move on, he goes with our best wishes.

"His image rights were important to us last year but now we're looking at what he could do on the field.

Interesting.

Since when has Publicity Pete ever had any credibility in football, or anywhere?

I think it's a bad move, but Ridsdale rivals his old manager DOL for shiftiness, opportunism and self-promotion.

I know what you're saying thenod, but what I'm trying to say is it's not the end of the world... for the time being at least!!

Incoming Strikers.....

05/06 Bellamy

06/07 Macarthy & Roberts

07/08 Roque Santa Cruz

08/09 Robbie soddin Fowler!

WTF

I feel like going down to Ewood and tying a piece of black cloth to Jack Walkers statue.

I'm as perplexed as everyone about this but now it's sunk in, I think there may be some benefits.. It's a pay as you play deal after all and surely, he aint gonna trouble the starting XI team sheet too much. He could however be good for the likes of Matt Derbs and some of the young uns with their finishing. Well I hope so anyway!

I am being optimistic for my own sake and sanity here, but despite what some may think, Ince is not stupid.

He will know that relying on Fowler for goals will not help us improve upon last years position, and why would he purposefully cock up his own career by deliberately making bad signings. Williams would have thoroughly interrogated Ince before giving him the job and I think we fans need to take a step back on this one.

I am not saying Roque will definitely stay but I don't think Fowler is an "instead of".

How would we feel if we kept our foward line this year but replaced Roberts with Fowler, and spent the net gain of, say at least £2m on an ever better midfielder than we are currently looking at for example. Things change quickly in football and maybe there is a bit of shuffling being planned.

Or to put it another way, how would we feel if we kept our squad but added Fowler at midnight on deadline day? People would see it as a low risk, low cost, shrewd squad addition IMO.

Can't say I am happy (especially about the possible departure of Friedel) but I think we need to see the bigger, or final picture before we start calling for Ince's head.

I'll tell you what the bigger picture is.... SQUAD MORALE and other players / agents perception of the direction of BRFC. What message is Brads situation and this signing sending out 'within the trade'?

You any stats at your disposal Alan? If you have can you ascertain .....

1. How many matches has Fowler played since Souness failed (tf) to the former smashing lad / spice boy?

2. How many clubs has he been at.

and

3. How many goals has he scored?

Why would he even bother answering that?

Suggestion; if you want to know something -look it up for yourself!

His goals record has been great even in the latter years - until last season obviously.

It's just the problem of getting him fit and on the pitch. ;)

Any uppdate on the takeover and the possible midfielder nicko just try to think on somthing else than fowler

I wonder what Nabeel Chowdery makes of this...his mate Brad on the way out etc.

Castillo is expecting to arrive very shortly. However I don't know if it is THAT advanced because of the fee question.

These are very interesting times.

Not content with bringing all his backroom staff from MK Dons ...looks like Incey has now brought his shopping list as well!

...and if MK Dons were aiming to get into the Championship for the 2009/10 season - it looks like he's brought his targets with him.

2 words=laughing stock

Bolton (a team that finished well below us last season) Sign Elmander

We get Fowler! What is Ince thinking! He was too slow at Cardiff-----rubbish at City-----Poor at Liverpool pt.2

Then theres talk of us selling our most consistant performer and Fans favourite!

Not the best way to endear yourself to your new fans!

It's not like he will get a game ahead of RSC or the rest of the strikers. Fowler will be on the same/similar deal to tugay and he will come of the bench with 5 mins to go when we are 1-0 down as a last resort.

I'm not that bothered to be honest, i'm more interested in what is going to happen to Brad and Bentley.

I think my step brother has summed this up perfectly this morning when he replied to my text telling him that we'd signed Robbie Fowler. " I didn't realise I'd been transported back to April Fools Day in 1998"!

As for Brad, unless we sign Cech or Buffon then the replacement isn't going to be as good as him, so why get rid?
