I cannot calm down, Nicko.

I keep thinking of the film "High Plains Drifter".

The town is Blackburn Rovers. Clint Eastwood is Paul Ince. Ince sells all the good players, replaces them with rubbish, gets us relegated and financially broken so we can never see Premier football at Ewood again. Then Ince walks away with a smile on his face.

Whatever have the Rovers done to Ince in the past?

Youri? Hughes' first signing wasn't he?

thats questionable aswell but at least he had just had two good seasons at bolton. AND we were fighting to avoid relegation. now we are signing a championship man. and we are pushing to improve on a 7th place in the league. hardly the same!

You guys are way too pessimistic. We all know that it's only the 11th of July and we should all know by now that the big clubs have to deal and wheel before we do. We have always done a fantastic signing right before the window closes and I am also certain we will do it this summer too.

For those who wants Ince's head on a plate because he is replacing Santa Cruz with Fowler? Please use your brain.

I am getting very angry at all this rubbish talk about our new manager.

I think the Friedal matter depends on whether HE wants to go. If he does then there is not a lot we can do and getting a few million would be good business. If he DOESN'T then I can't see what Ince is thinking. Short of signing Cech/Van de sar/Cassias (which won't happen) I don't know who we would replace him with.

If Ince is giving jobs to his mates then why not get Peter Schmichael back??

To those who are NOT exercised about the "legend" that is Robbie Fowler being anywhere near our club I'd say this. Give me ONE good reason why he'd be of use:

Training- it's been well documented in the past that he's not the best trainer (Lazy in the extreme).

Coaching- don't make me laugh.

Experience- what- against Benni (Champions League winner) and Roque?

Playing- he's been unfit and useless for years.

We have four solid strikers at the club:

Benni

Roque

Derbs

Roberts

Then we also have Gally and Rigters.

Does that look like an area we need to improve? If Fowler signs is he better than Benni, Roque, Derbs or Roberts?

If you have any common sense you will know we don't need another striker, UNLESS one of our exisiting ones leaves. The only striker we know that there is genuine interest in is Roque. So what are fans supposed to think if Roque looks the most likely striker to leave and its looking like we might bring in Fowler.

I'm sorry but the guy was a great player in his time but he is clearly past it now and his legs are gone.

Someone should have sent this to Paul Ince first. I had a text from my mate this morning to say that he didnt think John Barnes was doing anything if we fancied him too :angry2:

Correct.

1) We have NOT signed Fowler, and even if we did, Hughes made a very similar type of signing in Jeffers.

2) According to nicko, there is interest from elsewhere in Friedel and two offers have been made for him. There is no corroboration of this from any other source as far as I am aware, but even if it is true there's nothing Rovers can do about that.

3) Other than what nicko claims, there is no corroboration as far as I am aware that either Ince or the Club want to sell Friedel.

Nicko's info is usually very good, but he isn't always correct. It's not that long ago nicko was rubbishing reports that HTC had joined Panathanikos because he had made his arrangements for an interview at Rovers.

(Spitting feathers and couldn't find my password.)

Now I'm speechless. £2.5 million quid for Friedel - Bonkers. 15 points is worth 30 million quid these days! Find a more consistent injury free player anywhere - 1 more year and nowt would be preferable. A fine upstanding citizen.

Fowler - oooohhhhhh if only you new half the story! He hasn't been injured half as much as you think he has - but won't play much trust me.

A COACH! Oh god no!

Amy Winehouse would be a better role model as player and coach!

I strongly suspect Friedels mate in the takeover has/had objected to the Guv'nor. (Would the first asian heritige Premiership chaiman eclipse the first black manager somewhat?)

An appalling start but considering the unusually quick response from Official Rovers Site I think he's asked to come for training and/or Incey just had his first ethics lecture.

Didn't John Williams say a couple of months ago something like " we have money to spend, but we want to spend to improve the TEAM"

Looks like that's gone out the window (I know Fowler will be free, but the wage capacity is important to us)

IMO, yes it does. Whether Fowler can make a difference, well I don't know. With Fowler, if he's fit enough, he's good enough. That's why he's going to Germany isn't it, - to assess his fitness?

WE haven't signed him yet. The only spendings on Fowler might be plane and a hotel in Germany.

People are overreacting.

I for one would be pleased if Fowler could teach Jason Roberts og Derbyshire this: Fowler was awesome

I'd say the question is more "Is he better than Gally or Rigters?"

He was going to be on a pay as you play at Cardiff, so i can't see that he's coming here for the money.

If RSC or Benni have an injury (or a sulk) at any point in the season then that leaves us light in the striker department.

Ok, so Fowler isn't exactly going to rip up any trees, but he'll add a bit of experience, will be able to teach the young ones a thing or two, comes cheaply, is "a bit of a card" by all accounts and should be good for morale, will be happy to be a bit part player and can do a job if required.

It's not a fantastic signing (if it turns out that way) but it's a decent 'cover your back' signing. For this one we have to put our faith in the management team and their decisions - If the other signings this summer are Hyppia and Molby then there are issues, but i see Fowler as a cheap and experienced filler - Not one to get excited or wound up about.

I can see the squad introductions.

Ince "This is Santa Cruz Robbie."

Fowler "Oh what a privilidge to be training with you!"

Santa Cruz "and you are..?"

Ince "This is Robbie Fowler!"

Santa Cruz - looks puzzled "sorry, who?"

I'm sure that RSC would have heard of the 4th highest scorer in English Premiership history.... even if it is distant history.

Fowler hasn't signed anything yet. A club spokesman told BBC Radio Lancashire "Robbie has merely been invited on the pre-season tour by manager Paul Ince. At this stage he has not signed any contract and will join the squad to allow the club to assess his fitness."

But, the prospect of Brad Friedel leaving is very, very sad. The idea of him not being a Rover is one thing but, logically if one feels the need to replace him, it can be done next year or the year after. Our keeper it not broken why fix it. Worry about more pressing matters. I-yi-yi!!!!!!!!

People must really have it in for Ince to try and pretend there is some sort of correlation between RSC and Fowler. IF Fowler came in on any sort of deal, it would be most likely to replace Rigters or Gallagher.

I can't even see it would be to replace Roberts at no. 4 tbh.

If Im wrong, then i'll be down at Ewood with the baying hordes brandishing pitchforks myself.

There are several players being pursued all over the place right now - and some of them are quite exciting.

Obviously there could be a controversial capture or two, but so it goes.

There will also be a new chief scout - or 'general manager' type - joining and a reserve team coach.

There is a LOT going on, not just one eye-catching move for a hero of yesteryear and the possible departure of a genuine legend.

Please share with us the 1 or 2 exciting ones then!
