We've all seen enough of him to know he's useless.

Really? Not sure if the stats are right but according to soccerbase he has made 2 league apperances...

Then you have to factor in it can take a season for a foreign player to settle and get used to the league and the environment.

I'm sorry but in my opinion he hasn't played enough games or more importantly a run of games to form a proper opinion on whether he is good enough or not.

I too would like to see Gallacher and Rigters get more playing time, but a fit Fowler would be a good addition to the squad.

We also don't know what formation Ince will play in, maybe he is planning 3 attackers. Time will tell.

I'm interested to know what the 92 guests make of all this

110 on mine :P

Anyway it's only a trial, how many players did Sparky give a trial to? That Emile Mpenza whose now been released at City, he came and so did many others.

A trial does not mean he is going to sign. If he does sign what's the harm in having one extra body upfront?

Roque

Benni

Roberts

Derbs

Fowler

We've got experience, power, skill, pace and youth in that attack. Fowler will just bring in more experience, 330 games in the prem is pricless no matter what anyone says, and the whole deal about Derbs not getting a game, dont you think Derbs will get more experience from Robbie? People on this board need to start looking at the positives rather than taking the negative aspect all the time!!

We appointed Paul Ince and JW is going to give him the same backing as he did to Sparky and dont you think us fans need to do the same??

They can't post.

But as my colleagues have been doing today, they're probably going "hahahahahahahahahahahahah" at the fact that that washed-up has been is being linked to us at all.

I think the problem is the timing of the trial. If we'd already signed someone who we all felt looked a bit more exciting or whatever, and then we heard Fowler is coming to train with Rovers then we wouldn't have reacted in quite the same way. Players train with clubs they don't play for all the time just to keep fit between contracts and so on. It's the supposed bids for Friedel, and then this together at a time before we've heard any real positives that have provoked us all so much

But we need to give Paul Ince time. He's had under a week with the players, he's told Bentley he can only leave if the price is right, he has reassured us that none of the players will be leaving unless he says. Isn't that positive news?

The club have made no comment on freidel nor has anyone else. Yes it maybe true, but until he signs for someone else, everything needs to calm down a little. Some of the comments about Ince if Brad leaves is ridiculous. He's the gaffer let him deal with the In and Outs at Rovers, we can just sit back and watch. Brad leaves and we get in a new keeper and rovers finish in top 6, Brad won't be mentioned. Thats how fickle fans are, just give Ince the time and IF we are stuggling then have a pop at him, not when the guys had under a week with his players!

I think he would be missed regardless of our finish. I know I would.

He is one of the top profile players in the US, he has already got coaching schools that get great young talent.

Having him on the books has more worth than 2.5 million no matter how well spent or saved.

This is Fowler's stats from 2006/2007 season, and I shall remind everyone that it was under Benitez's rotation system. Which a lot of players struggle to stay fit and top notch under.

Apps: 20, Goals: 7

That's not the worst is it ?

Yes, but probably against lower league teams in league cup etc.....

Can't agree with that at all. If Ince is bringing in another quality keeper to keep Brad on his toes he is to be commended. It would not be like Brad to spit his dummy out, he's far too professional for that. More likely he would knuckle down again and make the new man bide his time.

I still haven't seen any evidence that Ince wants to sell Brad. I think nicko is being more than a bit mischievous on this one.

The Fowler stuff is extremely strange, but really is an identical sort of signing to the one Hughes made in Franny Jeffers - and I don't recall the same level of protest then.

Jeffers was young enough to be sold on for a profit. Fowler isn't. If Ince is bringing in another 'keeper and Brad remains where does that leave Brown, the promising Nielsen and not to mention Fielding? Goalkeeper is the last position we should be spending time and money on. I just find it a very disappointing start to pre-season and not what I had hoped for after a 7th place finish last season. Comparing his selections for the backroom team with those of Hughes I just think we are moving in a backwards direction.

Spot on. I suspect that Brad is cerebral and professional enough to be future management material too.

If we looked at it that way a club would rarely if ever make a profit on a player.

Gate and pie money should be viewed as wage money and transfer income for transfer money.

What about signing on fees? no player is ever free these days

You see headlines on Teletex to bait you to make a Premium rate call to Fans Fc etc..".Rovers about to sign 35 Cap England legend" but you never believe them.....Thought this might have been one of the Nevilles..After Fowler's spell at City Bernard Manning simply said.If it had been Fowler who had taken 12 shots at John Lennon he would still be alive today......
