I think the source is the Premier League...

Wasn't meaning to be dense, but the announcement didn't include a statement or quote of any kind :/ If the league have ok'd it surely everything else is a formality and the club can name Ince already. I'm pretty sure I'm all out of patience.

I'm about to go to someone's birthday party and if the news breaks whilst I'm there I'm going to be miffed.

There is a key line in the story that may explain Big Sam's exit...

The LMA - the managers union - was contacted about Ince. You can take it as read that Allardyce, a big LMA man, got told about that development before he pulled out.

It reminds me of a woman at work who didn't get the promotion she went for and then said 'I didn't want the job anyway'.

The Press Association have the story - they will have had a call from the Premier League.

There is too much detail for it to be wrong...the letter, the two-year amnesty, the calls to the LMA etc.

It's all legal and party line stuff, it's what has been going down for the past two days.

Rovers should call a presser on Saturday, get all of the back pages of the papers on Sunday morning and stop faffing about.

Sunday People already been on to me looking for a big tale...the rest will be the same.

It's a big story.

Tell the public.

If Ince does an exclusive somewhere he gets off on the wrong foot and might just antagonise a few...

I think it will create interest and will certainly make life interesting. I hope his football is fiery and feisty, I think it will be.

The clashes with Man U, Liverpool and West Ham will be spicy. And there will be plenty of newspaper space given to his clashes with ex-Man U mates...so it's not a bad thing that way.

From a personal point of view I would love to have seen an old pro like Ten Cate play the beautiful game, but that is just me. Maybe it would have ended in tears.

Good call, given where we are we do have to have a little bit more steel than the wealthier clubs. Sad but true, doubt if will win the Fair Play league but we haven't been angels under Hughes have we?

I think it would have ended up in tears with Henk, it takes a real miracle worker to achieve success just playing the beautiful game. Didn't see Chelsea winning the league in an entertaining manner and they have an apparently bottomless wallet.

I've been around the block with Rovers for longer than I care to think about- It,s just like when we won the Premier League and decided that Matty Holmes was all the team strengthening we needed! What a great decision that was- we,ve never really recovered from that foolishness. Older fans will remember when we sold Fred Pickering ( the Alan Shearer of his day) to Everton for £ 85,000 and then spent more than that trying to replace him with a long series of no marks as we drifted down to the bottom of Div 3. It's not too late, get Laudrup in .

I think Laudrup and his media friends have done well - they have made themselves the fans favourites, but in the end its too late.

Ince will get it and everyone will say 'We should of took Laudrup instead' Then 12 months later they will change their mind. Whoever JW chooses then im happy - he has done the main thing and that was staying clear of McClown and BFS.

I fear that if Ince gets the job then Laudrup's last minute entry, will be bad news for Ince, If the team doesn't get off to a good, how long will it before people are saying ".....if, only we had got Laudrup instead"

saying that, some are saying that now!:lol:

I don't understand why there has been no further developments today after we were given the green light to appoint Ince. If he is the first choice, why not make an announcement. This appointment has been very tiresome to say the least. I appreciate the hard work that JW has undertaken, but this whole merry-go-round for Ince has left me baffled.

I'm not quite sure why JW hasn't said ANYTHING to the press about the situation this evening especially as he was hoping to clear it up by the weekend for the fans. I know I sound impatient but honestly, just put us out of our misery already!

It would be fair to say Rovers are not the slickest on the PR side of things.

Possibly Nicko, but reading around some MK Dons fans websites, their view is whilst they like Ince they are very surprised that a top ten Premiership club has gone in for him.

The general view is that he is very 'raw' as a manager.

It's just too much of a gamble for a manager that doesn't have the experience, coaching staff and let alone badges.

If we have a winning start they won't!!

You are talking about club who had fans boycott the ground for decades because they coudn't get tickets for the 1960 cup final.

Well I am off to bed. I set off to work at 5.30am tomorrow and won't be back til 10pm, so I am going to do what someone suggested earlier...just back off from the obsession for a while and see what unfolds.

Obviously he is the board's choice but a bloody risky one. Not even managed at Championship level.....Apart from Southgate and Keano, who both regularly admit they are making mistakes, can't think of many other managers who have made such a massive leap.

Should be interesting.

Southgate and Keano who both had a lot more money to spend too.

Ince was in a similar situation to Chris Coleman.Coleman did well in his first full season as he had Tiganas team, hopefully Ince can do the same, but when having to build his own team, things went drastically wrong.

rovers were lucky with hughes as he had a focus when he came to rovers; something that both players and fans could believe was the root cause of rovers' failure to produce the goods under souness - fitness. it was the battle cry for weeks and everyone talked of how hughes had advanced the team. i fail to see what ince could convince everyone of. lower division football does not even resemble what happens in the prem week in week out. laudrup has been quite successful in la liga as well as in a major european competition. he is renowned for flowing, attacking football - something that only the top few teams in the premiership are able to produce on a regular basis. this is why i feel that ince will only retard rovers advance while laudrup the opposite.

there are reasons that we shall never know why ince is the chosen one! some pr coup?...lets play the first black manager anthem...then watch as rovers are the ones who have to sack him!
