the guy is fighting to be 5th choice, he was crap in his last season for liverpool first time round and has had 6-7 years of steadily becoming dreadful. Even with his fitness back it would take the first team coach crashing to get him anywhere near a game.....certainly would'nt be an impact sub with his pace.

Ince has just opened himself and the club up to ridicule.....need a statement that categorically states this is not a trial and just a situation where someone is trying to regain fitness.

To compare this with saying roque was a gamble is a joke, fella scored hat trick for paraguay week before we signed him.......even jeffers still had a little pace if nothing else...fowler is 100% in the nothing to offer department.

can only imagine fowler did his best yosser hughes impression to ince " Gissa a job " what a pointless stinker of signing

He's not a signing.

there is not one single game, or situation where we would benefit from playing fowler ahead of anyone else. Alarm bells going off, this would be beyond pointless, trying to think of a worse striker that played in the premiership last season - can't think of one!

As Nicko says Fowler won't be a replacement for Roque or a first choice, but more like an experienced and cheap back up. Hughes brought in quite a few of them as well, or have everyone forgot about the likes of Henchoz and Berner?

He's just invited on the pre-season tour to see if he's fit and good enough. Personally I wouldn't like him to sign, but Fowler is not the reason of why my view of Ince's appointment have turned from positive to a bit negative atm. I can't for my life get my head around why he is considering selling Big Brad Friedel!? <_<

There's no way Ince can defend selling our legend Big Brad!

where has Ince said he's interested in selling Brad? Did I miss something?

Or is everyone leaping to conclusions because there was interest from another club?

well, I seem to remember reading that Nicko said Rovers WILL sell if they find a replacement.

So if Nicko is right, that means that Ince is considering selling Friedel

I wonder what Nabeel Chowdery makes of this...his mate Brad on the way out etc.

Castillo is expecting to arrive very shortly. However I don't know if it is THAT advanced because of the fee question.

These are very interesting times.

Maybe it is being done as a wake up call to Chowdrey - Brad may go to his friend and ask (beg) him to cough up the extra £10 mill to buy the club.

Got to say gutted by news we may sell Brad..

I can see the transfer window hitting us badly this summer.. but I do have a feeling letting Brad go might be down to offers we have in for Bentley..

With both Liverpool and Spurs trying to get rid of keepers Robinson and Carson and both after Bentley a part exchange swap deal with a bit of cash for either of those two might just tempt Ince... both Liverpool and Spurs apparently have cash flow issues this summer to boot, so they are not going to be offering us straight cash thats for sure.. even if they have already unsettled Bents.

I can see a deal like Finnan + Carson + 7mil for Bentley.. :(

Selling Brad so new keeper wont be unhappy playing as a reserve.. :(

Selling Cruz as Abeb jets off to Inter.. :(

Buying Davies, Castellia.. a new striker.. ?

I suppose the only positive is it would mean we might have a little extra cash to splash on something fancy.. like fancy player would love to come to England.. lol

As for mr Fowler the less said the better...

What a wonderful summer first hughes.. now potentially all our best players..

Roll on some good news.. I was kind of for the Ince signing.. but starting to regret it.

As I mentioned before... maybe Fowler is coming on board as a striker coach.

It could be, but i doubt it! Rovers.co.uk make no mention of that and state that he is part of the training camp in germany. It would suprise me if he had any coaching badges either, but who needs them thesedays?

I can see a deal like Finnan + Carson + 7mil for Bentley.. :(

Finnan is virtually an Aston Villa player as part of the Barry deal.

The main problem with that is the issue of the sell on %, if 50% is correct i can't see rovers being able to sanction a more player than cash deal, as mentioned a few days back, as we would have to pay Arsenal out of our transfer budget for the value of the players.

Who knows though, it is sit tight and fingers crossed time.

Even that frightens me. He's hardly been a model professional throughout his career, and football isn't his life because he has his property business to look after (is he still involved with horses as well?).

Ince seems to be giving jobs to a lot of his old mates, again a very worrying trend because he seems to be doing it irregardless of form and ability.

Maybe he is part of the consortium buying the club lol.. just trying out his new purchase in advance.. :(

One of the only reasons I could think Ince would want Fowler is more due to the lack of characters in the current squad, and that kind of 'banter' is key to his style of management and the mentality he instills.

Other than that, or him being/ becoming a coach, I'm stumped. Though one would hope if he turns up and is worse thsn every other striker by some distance then we wont sign him.

Weren't Ince and Fowler part of the infamous 'Spice Boys' group of Liverpool players?

I'm frightened. :(

I think the Spice Boys were pre Ince, as it was 1996 FA Cup final when the white suits were worn. Ince was still at Inter Milan at this time. If memory serves Ince joined Liverpool in either 1997 or 1998.

I am not happy with Fowler being on our pre season tour, if he was there to try and gain fitness in the chance of joining another club similar to Beckham training at Arsenal when the NFL season was finished, it woulnt be too bad.

We are being laughed at by supporters from all other clubs, Ince needs to come out and give statements on what is happening with the likes of Friedel, and say why he has got Fowler with the squad.

I honestly see this being a very, very hard season.

Have I missed something?? I haven't heard/read anywhere that we've signed Fowler. AS far as I can make out, he didn't want the pay as you play deal offered by Cardiff and was out of contract, so he's joined up with us for a training camp and pre season. Surely the bloke isnt completely stupid and realises that he stands little chance of a place in our team, but maybe wants to regain some fitness and then see what happens from there. I don't see what the harm is personally. If this were transfer deadline day and we HAD signed him as our only player, then of course I'd be gutted, but there's plenty of action to go yet me thinks.

WE haven't signed him yet. The only spendings on Fowler might be plane and a hotel in Germany.

People are overreacting.

I for one would be pleased if Fowler could teach Jason Roberts og Derbyshire this: Fowler was awesome

IF ONLY we could get him fit and playing like the clip on youtube - he may bring age, but he will also bring experience.

A fit Robbie Fowler would be worht bringing on with 15 minutes to go and rovers losing. I think it could be a shrewd move by Ince- only if fowler can get fit and stay fit - even for one season.

From what i can make out, Cardiff said to him you can stay here on pay as you play, because he didn't want a new contract with them. However I think Ince will have given him some assurances as his old buddy, he is hardly going to do him over.

Correctomundo. And that is why he is bringing him to Germany. To see if he is fit enough.

This is so dissapointing and depressing.

I have never had a post edited by the moderators but came close this morning.

It would be heartbreaking to see Brad in goal against us.

I know how you feel about both points. Uh oh I forgot..... I'll be on the golf course wont I?
