The potential Fowler move just does not make sense for a nunber of reasons. Most of them already mentioned.

Also don't like Ince's comments about maybe having to 'gamble' with one of our signings. Of course, every signing is a risk but it did not come across well.

Ince obviously is keen to stamp his own authority on the squad. No need for changing things for the sake of it though....

Just picked this up from tribal football.

http://www.myfootballnews.co.uk/news_jump.html?story=843057

Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Ince admits he's still to discuss a transfer budget with the board.

"I've not really spoken to the chairman about the amount of money I'll have to spend as yet," he told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"The most important thing initially was to get the staff I wanted to bring in sorted out, and we've almost completed that now.

"When the chairman comes back off holiday we'll then sit down again and have another look at that."

Rubbishand#! There's no transfer window for that lot. 'Opportunity' Knox could wait longer than the Brad Freidal issue. By the time Ince gets his mitts on the chequebook everybody who is any good will be fit up. The Chairman should not even be on holiday at this time of the year. He should have had em in May /June. We are missing Jack Walker like never before. The club needs a few good old fashioned sackings to lick it into shape.

The only opinion that matters on Robbie Fowler is Paul Ince's.

Ince has had the bottle to try this on - it could be great or a flop - but give it a chance. I hear Fowler is not terribly fit, so we will see how it runs.

Fowler also has the bottle to take a chance on a move and ISN'T moving for money. It's not like he needs it.

Take a breath and see how it works out.

A year ago Roque Santa Cruz was a crock who never played and couldn't score in some eyes...

Leave it to the experts.

If I remember correctly kenny Daglish first signing for Rovers was Alan Wright - from Blackpool. Daglish had Jack's millions to spend where as Ince has not. Personally, Rovers cannot lose in this and there is no harm in Ince seeing if Fowler still has something to offer or not. Ince has played football at the top level, so knows what a player needs to have. He will know what he needs to know at the training camp. Anyway if Fowler can help Derbyshire to play even better and pass on his experience to other players - again nothing to lose.

No it couldn't! He's been rubbish since he was at Leeds. You must have forgotton the games he played for Liverpool then. In those games he was brilliant.

He doesn't work very hard, he's slow, he's @#/? in the air, his little/no motivation left in him and he struggles awfully with fitness.

I'm terrified of Ince's appointment now...absolutely terrified.

Tom Finn is here Gordon and I presume he can deal quite adequately with anything that needs doing whilst JW is away.

Pure class this. 20 pages of moaning, reading of the last rites, calling the new manager, betting on Rovers being relegation certs; typical East Lancs doom and gloom all because we're taking an ageing goalscorer to Germany for a week or two.

We've not played a game yet this season have we?. Let's wait and see, eh? If Fowler does turn out to be pants have we lost anything? No. As everyone points out we have 4 other class strikers. If Fowler does a bit then we've done well.

Theno will be laughing into his pint this evening, the messageboard has gone to his way of thinking.

Stuff Fowler .. I was first to point out this morning we need 7 on the bench now..... but it's the Freidal issue thats the kicker.

btw as to your final sentence it was only ever going to be a matter of time. He is simply not suited to the job imo. Too much like Dennis Wise but without the wit.

Nicko is there any good news on the horizon???

I've calmed down a bit now, not much but a bit.

You should all still be signing up on facebook though, so we can make our feelings clear should the worst happen.

With reference to the fowler prospective signing, we must just be tying in with EU employment law I'm sure you have to have a set amount of OAP's, Disabled people working for you if your a company of a certain size!!!!

It's been a long day, hasn't it.

A 'fowl' one in some people's eyes.

You have to calm the natives down - the Rovers news today has nearly hidden the dingles first friendly news. Maybe thats the ploy - a great day to hide bad dingle news. :brfcsmilie:

I meant Fowler 'if it comes off.'

There are a lot of active moves on just now, people working overtime, and these could be busy days ahead.

There are bound to be teething pains, some naivety and controversial moves in and out.

So be it...it's football.

Like my mate at Burnley is showing, you have to shake it up a bit to make it 'your' team. I praise him for that, so I'm not going to slag Ince for turning things around either.

Now why does that sound like you are reading it?

Have I missed something?? I haven't heard/read anywhere that we've signed Fowler. AS far as I can make out, he didn't want the pay as you play deal offered by Cardiff and was out of contract, so he's joined up with us for a training camp and pre season. Surely the bloke isnt completely stupid and realises that he stands little chance of a place in our team, but maybe wants to regain some fitness and then see what happens from there. I don't see what the harm is personally. If this were transfer deadline day and we HAD signed him as our only player, then of course I'd be gutted, but there's plenty of action to go yet me thinks.

Thank goodness for a dose of sanity on this issue. Ince clearly wants a balance of youth and experience around him. Do you honestly think Ince is going to put his reputation on the line by signing an unfit Fowler? If he`s not fit then he doesnt sign. fowler was one of the best strikers around in Prem history. His knowledge will be vital to others in the squad.

More news on Castilo.

According to his agent, Rovers or Juventus.

Not a difficult choice for him then. :glare:

http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=772718

He needs to ask himself, 1st team football with us, or reserve footie with Juventus?

Cristiano Zanetti, Mohamed Sissoko, Tiago and Sergio Bernardo Almirón would all be in the Juve squad ahead of him if he joined them...

Who have we got to stand in his way?! Emerton, Reid, Dunn and Mokoena?!

In other news, Carlos Queiroz has just officially left Manure and become new Portugal coach...

Correct, me thinks it's another agent trying his PR skills to hike the price.

so nicko says that "if a suitable replacement is lined up then they will think about selling Brad" Well there ya go, Brad's 100% out the door.

After all, a replacement for Brad is easy to find, nicko and his sources are never wrong, any bid we get for brad would be acceptable and Brad clearly wants to leave.

And also since Fowler is in a pre-season training camp so Ince and the club can check his fitness, he's now the replacement for our top striker, who is clearly out the door due to all of his comments about wanting to leave and the clubs comments about being willing to part with him.

Based on these two certain moves, Ince is clearly the worst manager in the history of English football, I mean selling a 37 yo keeper and bringing in a 32 yo veteran for basically nothing, clear signs of madness.

is my sarcasm coming through okay?

Bye then.

I'd rather have true fans at Ewood than people who sulk at the slightest thing and want to callfor the new mangers' head before he's been given a chance. What harm is there in signing Fowler? It's not like he's going to be first choice is it?

Some of us remember the dark days of the old 3rd division with gates of 4 and 5 thousand. You have had something to moan about then

GET A GRIP!

because i was serious about not supportign the club anymore, your point means nothing we hav come to expect more, were not a 3rd tier team anymore who get tiny gates, thats like saying if we get relegated it doesnt matter because we were once in the championship, all the re-building of the squad we have done other the past 4 years looks like its all goin to waste if what nicko is saying is actualy true.

So far Ince has brought in Robbie Fowler on trial, identified right back as a priority and apparently wants shot of Brad? I am also terrified.

Fowler's arrival is surely an indication that one of our front four is on the move. Surely we should be looking to improve, rather than bring in an absolute has been who can't even hack it at Cardif anymore?! It's stupid signings like that that prevent the development of youngsters such as Derbyshire!

Although we could probably do with a specialist right back, Emerton was very good there last season. We could easily go along with him and Ooijer for that position - why spend our precious little money there when it is clear that were are desperately short of quality in the centre of the park?

I won't even talk about Friedel. Unless a top, top young keeper is in our sights, then he should not be leaving. Even then, I'd be extremely anxious and upset to lose such a hero.

Can someone please summarise the whole Brad Friedel saga for me please! I have had a look through and picked up bits and pieces but what is the key information?

Does he want to go? Where does he want to go? Where is this information coming from?

Thanks

all of this is APPAENTLY yeah, nothing is definate but Nicko seems pretty sure.

Brad wants to stay

Ince wants brad to go

Ince has started looking for new keepers

Man City and Villa are readying bids of 2.5million to get brad.

Ince is an idiot

He was caught smoking a massive biff on the pre season tour, Aaron Mokoena stitched him up with a little help from his South African dealer and BRFCS' very own Iccers.

Archie Knox caught him behind the bike sheds on camp, and the Guv hastily docked out his Cigar, brushed off his sheepskin coat and told him he's out the door. Meanwhile, Robbie has been up to his own tricks snorting lines with Bert, who is still convinced he's a right winger.

Still no news on any new right back.

The most worrying thing is that the Fowler and Brad (potential) moves simply don't make sense!

imo it can only be down to personality clashes either now or in Liverpools Spice Lounge. Whatever I'm fairly certain that sure that Brad has two good years in him as No 1 keeper and at least another couple as understudy on the bench / gkeeper coach. That is not only football sense it must surely up to financial sense too.

Something is rotten .........
