ebenrocks Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 SAS thats naive. It's his last pay cheque we are talking about! No matter what he feels for BRFC his wife and family' future must come first in any decision. that is the dumbest thing i've ever read. I dont think there is a single first team premiership player who is worried about his family starving to death if a club wont pay him 40k a week. Footballers are greedy, everyone knows it. The wages they are payed are obsene. Friedel is payed around 25k a week, maybe more. He earns 1.3 million pounds a year, and has been for a while. Add to that income from his soccer school and his wifes wage. Hes sorted and if this is whats happening he's just being greedy. Im not saying being greedy is wrong, to be honest, if i had the option to go from 25k a week to a higher number, i wouldnt say no. But his families well being and happiness dont bank on him leaving blackburn

thenodrog Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 The Big Brad story will be revealed tomorrow in the Sunday People, if Brad is not leaving what is there to worry about? I believe Nicko and the constant sniping at the messenger is getting boring now- especially when the LET report the story- late again! We are in such a privaleged position to be getting these updates, what other club has this insight? Nicko's Mum I presume?
thenodrog Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Yeh it will be his last paycheck, but he`s hardly going to be on peanuts as it is now is he? And im pretty sure brad is one of those that will go into coaching, as he has his own coaching set up in the states? So their will be life after his playing career. He is one of very very very few that i dont think would leave a club for money. Not if we match city / villa's terms.

SAS Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Not if we match city / villa's terms. I think you are stereotyping brad in the wrong bracket
thenodrog Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 I think you are stereotyping brad in the wrong bracket Nah..... I'm stereotyping Mrs Brad. Neither of us knows for sure so I think we'll just have to agree to differ SAS.

Tris Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Nicko reported that other clubs are interested in Brad. John Williams has confirmed that that is factual. Seems to me that Nicko has been spot on with those two stories. Of course that stand point is ridiculous - I don't dispute that. It's no more ridiculous however than those that still doubt his sources - they've been proven many a time to be reliable. No one gets it right all the time, situations change. It amazes me however that people still doubt that what he tells us is in anything but good faith. That viewpoint is without substance and totaly out of order. Nicko wrote the Friedel story in such a way that Ince appeared to be the culprit - and as a result over 900 anti-Ince posts were made on here yesterday. The more reliable LET states the bleedin obvious - that Ince and Rovers desperately want to keep Brad Friedel - despite some unsettling interest from elsewhere. Now I wonder how news of that interest leaked out?? Through The Mirror perchance? Causing 900 posts slagging off our new manager And as I stated yesterday - if Brad leaves then it will be his own choice, not Ince or the club showing him the door. What's in the LET totally backs that up.
tchocky Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Aston Villa have just signed American Brad... Guzan! Haha.. At least that should put them out of the running for our American Brad *Edit: And here's the pudding: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_3809460,00.html
tony gale's mic Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 On the Castillo link, someone rang the world football phone in last night to ask Tim Vickery about him and how he would fair in the premier league. His response was something along the lines of he is a powerful, strong defensive midfielder with a great work rate. And that its Tim Vickery's view that he would do a solid job in the prem. It would be nice to add more steel to the midfield but at £6 million, which could be a huge chunk of our budget i'm not sure he is the right choice. Its a top class attacking midfielder we really need. He's scored a lot of goals for a defensive midfielder in his career so far...

yoda Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 You said there was NO interest in Brad. Changed your tune. Strange. How 'desperate' is 'desperate' by the way? Do we have to start rating desperate on a 1-10 scale now?
nicko Posted July 12, 2008 Author Posted July 12, 2008 Desperate as in 'he's only leaving over my body' or desperate as in 'oh well, we will make some money on him and find a younger replacement?' We shall see.
Tris Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 You said there was NO interest in Brad. Changed your tune. Strange. No - I said this - Friedel is certainly not being pushed through the exit door by anyone at Rovers. If Friedel leaves Ewood it's because he decides that's what he wants to do. It would be no coincidence if he ends up at Man City.
yoda Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Desperate as in 'he's only leaving over my body' or desperate as in 'oh well, we will make some money on him and find a younger replacement?' We shall see. er! 'oh well, we will make some money on him and find a younger replacement?' I don't think this has been said and it certainly does not mean desperate
John Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 JW comments on Ince wanting to keep Brad are a bit inconclusive in my view.
T4E Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 But even Tribal haven't bothered with the "Martin O'Neill wants to bid for Friedel" story in their 76 gossips today. Nobody has - except Alan Nixon. For me, Nicko's Mirror speculation linking Aston Villa to Brad Friedel bears all the hallmarks of such a planted story. The only likely destination for Friedel if he leaves Ewood Park is the City of Manchester stadium. Nicko as a freelance based in the North West needs friends in high places ... and wouldn't it be good for him if his story about Brad+Villa ended up with Mark Hughes taking Friedel from Rovers to Man City???
thenodrog Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 BRAD FRIEDEL - I know for a fact that Brad does not want to leave. The Man City interest is - as far as I know - a leak at their end to put pressure on Hart. Not a 'Sparky tactic' as someone pointed out, but there are other very 'smart' people at the club who use that kind of tactic. Hmmmm..... That is NOT my understanding of the situation. Last night I was lead to believe that Freidal would like to follow Hitchcock to City. Maybe time will tell. You said there was NO interest in Brad. Changed your tune. Strange. Wrong Alan YOU said there was no substance in the interest in Brad from City. Why can't Tris change his tune on this subject? The essense and inference contained in your first post suggests that you have changed your tune too. Luv 'Scoop droggy drog'
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Can we have some good positive news Nicko for a change please my 'owd deep fried Mars bar? Sick to ruddy death of the negativity and backstabbing on here at the moment...I agree with Tris it's spoiling this great site.

What's in the LET totally backs that up. The more reliable LET is a total waste of space. Always behind with the news and some aspects of the club - like reserve team reports are often totally ignored. As a source of Rovers news the LET is the last place to look! I disagree that if Brad leaves it will be down to him. If Brad leaves it will be down to the manager. Brad is under contract - like Bentley - and if he leaves it will because the manager wants him to leave. Only time will tell. Interesting though that it's John Williams giving quotes to the LET about Fowler and Brad and not our novice manager.
roverfanuk Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Could it be that this whole thing is about the 3rd year? If the media/tabloids are to be believed, he would be offered a 3 year deal at Man City and Aston Villa... He is only on a 2 year deal with us and might feel that a move will keep him in the game top-flight for longer? Nicko, will their be any good news for Blackburn Rovers fans in the paper in the morning? Its just i dont want to spend my money to read bad things about Brad... Also, will their be a takeover update at all?

den Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 On the Brad situation and Nicko suggesting that there is a "twist" to the story .......... After reading that article in the LT, I reckon INCE DOES want to keep Brad and Brad has told Rovers he will stay - AS LONG AS Rovers match Villa/City's offer. Hence Rovers looking at other keepers and weighing the situation/alternatives up. How's that Nicko? Still waiting for confirmation from Nicko, that this IS the situation.
nicko Posted July 12, 2008 Author Posted July 12, 2008 Wrong Alan YOU said there was no substance in the interest in Brad from City. Why can't Tris change his tune on this subject? The essense and inference contained in your first post suggests that you have changed your tune too. Luv 'Scoop droggy drog' I think I told you Villa were the front runners. Man City might have matched their offer...but probably not now. Keep up.
