He's scored a lot of goals for a defensive midfielder in his career so far...

I wouldn't say he has scored lots of goals.

Perhaps he plays a box to box role rather than a pure defensive midfielder. If he is powerful and has a high workrate the managers he has played under probably allow him to make the odd run forward.

If we are going to spend most of our budget on a midfield singing i would rather we spent it on someone more attacking or creative. If we can get Castillo a lot cheaper than £6 million it might be worth serious consideration.

Edit: Interestingly, SSN says Villa have agreed a fee for Brad Guzan, the other Septic goalie. Are they looking at our Brad to mentor him, or will they be choosing between the two at some point?

I can not see Guzman on the bench for long.

Can we have some good positive news Nicko for a change please my 'owd deep fried Mars bar?

You have already had the Mexican right back you are watching, the Ecuadorian midfielder you will sign if you find out who owns him, the ageing matinee idol who is joining you.

Of course, those all appeared first in the local paper...oh, perhaps not.

I tell you what I know, it's up to other people to rate it on the positive-negative scale.

The People will give you the Brad tale in some detail, who you will probably bring in to replace him, a bit of an update on both Castillo and Osorio and the names of your new 'chief scout' and 'reserve team boss.'

I don't think you will be short-changed.

Will any other paper have that?

L.E.T may not be the fastest source, for all things happening at Ewood, that's fact.

What I will say the content, is usually backed, with solid quotes from either the board or the manager, People who know the facts, at any given time.

JW has come out today with the facts, as they stood at that time, to tell the supporters and the media the true position of BRFC, with regard to Brad, and Fowler situation, not something you would expect from JW and the club, under normal circumstances.(inaccurate media reports, edited stories)

The last couple of weeks on here, there has been a number of snippets of exclusives, rightly or wrongly, the full story has been edited, when gone to press.

Some read the story and take it as gospel. (Out with the gallows)

People on here seek news from sources, that make a living from getting there story into the national media first.

We have to accept it is not going to be 100% accurate as to the true position at the club, simple by the nature of the beast.

Let's all take the gallows down, and let the season unfold.

Get back to what we all do best, supporting BRFC.

United we stand, and all that.

Nah..... I'm stereotyping Mrs Brad. Neither of us knows for sure so I think we'll just have to agree to differ SAS.

He is pretty well set up already and if it came to money for coaching..... every team in the MLS would be frothing at the mouth to have him as a coach. Not to mention thousands of smaller teams throughout the country.

I think I told you Villa were the front runners. Man City might have matched their offer...but probably not now.

Keep up.

strong rumours from villa that they want 'old' brad to help 'new' brad settle in for 12months +

They should have bought our Brad 1st then, doesn't add up in my book

:rover:

Don't think that makes any kind of a difference. This new Brad is definitely their main signing and the person they see as their long term goalkeeping solution so they've signed him first. But they might think it would be nice to have a keeper of Brad's calibre to ease him into the role and to have first team duties for the first season or so which is why they're looking to sign him too.

Sadly of late they have taken to lifting things almost word for word from dodgy rumour websites like Tribal football and nationals - not just poor information but very lazy journalism...we can all cut and paste and stick our name on the top.

Alternatively, expanding that theme, YOU come out of the shower towelling your hair and walk into the bedroom to find Graeme Souness lolling across your silk sheets with a hungry look in his eyes is and a lump in his pyjama bottoms ........ ! :tu:

:D:D:D I think that's the funniest post I've ever read....

It's hard to keep up with you constantly changing the story until you are right.

Jo is signing for City. City can't afford Jo, so they won't get him.

He signed - see, I was right.

I sincerely hope Brad does not leave as he will be one of our greatest heroes if he finishes his career avec us,

I can also see him come into managment with us in the future. However if Brad is to leave I think these three may be good targets.

Essam El Hadari - at 35 is no spring ckicken, but he was probably the best player for Egypt in the most recent African Cup of Nations (of which of course they won). His reflex saves (like Brad's) were awesome and he'll go cheap (considering he signed for a swiss club for $400,000)

Joe Hart - I feel he may not be liked by many here because he plays for 'Man (ager stealers) city' but he makes incredible saves quite often and at 21 is young, although he will come with a hefty fee considering tottenham were/are interested in signing him for 8m.

Igor Afinkeev- Again will need a hefty fee, but considered by many as the best young keeeper in europe. At 21 (like Hart) he is young and makes some dazzling saves. I feel at EURO 2008 he did not showcase his talents well but this will probably put other possible suitors off buying him.
