Is Brad really as good as you're making out on here? Are you not letting sentiment cloud your judgement?

I obviously trust what you're saying as you would have seen a heck of a lot more than him than me last season.

Just seems that people see Friedel as 'Mr Blackburn' etc, and are not seeing the move from all sides? £2.5m for a 37 year old is fantastic money imo, especially as you have had years of service from him, and got him for free?

He is going to be getting £50,000 a week from Villa according to Nicko, and that is the kind of money you can't reject at his age. I don't see anybody else, including yourselves, offering that kind of money with a three year contract.

But is he really worth it? Personally I think Rovers and Brad are getting a cracking deal. I'm not too sure about him, but he is definitely a step up from Carson - but then Robinson would have been!

I think selling one of your best players to one of your rivals is a great move. How about lowering the Bentley asking price, and providing them with another one of our prized assets.

Here's a better question, Alan, will Brad be traveling to Germany on Tuesday?

I'm not being funny, but you will know more about that tomorrow.

You have to get the keeper you want tied up, fee agreed, personal terms sorted - rival bidder taken out of the way.

Then Brad can go. I think his exit is virtually in place and sorted out. Fee, terms, etc.

You are correct, but things change...and money changes things more than anything in football.

Well, thats that then....... what a sh*ite finish to a weekend.

Good luck Brad and thanks for the memories.

Is it nailed on that Robinson is his replacement then Alan?

Please Rovers, if Friedel is going, spend the money wisely and don't go and sign a goalkeeper who has been leaking poor goals, and is majorly majorly overvalued...

My choices if we have to get a replacement for Brad would be:

- Diego Benaglio

- Rüştü Reçber

- Jaroslav Drobný

Rüştü Reçber, surely a joke. He's way past it.

Sorry to sound abrupt but have you been living on the moon these last past 5 years or so?....he's one of the top keepers in the Premiership and continues to be so.

So if this doesn't come out, is that the stance you will take for the story not panning out? That Rovers didn't find a replacement?

Seems like you are hedging your bets Alan.

I am telling you where the thing is at.

You can like it or lump it.

I know my sources on this and have spelled things out more than I need to.

You seem to miss the point that in the big picture there is always movement, this is not a still life painting.

You have had the facts - which some would still love to dispute.

1 - Villa want to buy Brad, 2 - the personal deal they are offering is so great that he will go and 3 - Rovers are now closing in on the replacement after going through the options for the past couple of weeks.

If that's not enough for you I will attempt to find out what Incey had for breakfast.

Has Ben Foster been considered?

He probably has, but Robinson is the one they are currently working on. And with some optimism.

Literally just got a text from a Spurs supporting mate, saying what are you saying about Robinson now.

Maybe it is sentimental, but I have not felt this low for a while....

Nicko, any more news on Bentley?

I seem to be of the opinion that he might start the season at Rovers and wait for one of the big 4 to come in and if not - a move to Spurs or Villa by the end of August?

Will Brad be first choice at villa or will it be the new american, Guzan?

I think he will definitely be first choice. I think the fact that Friedel is American is one of the main reasons why we are after him, to help Guzan settle in, and learn his trade. They are of similar built and similar goalkeeping style apparantly.

One thing i will say though, and again, speaking for 99% of everyone else...

We dont want Robinson, and we dont like him...

Please Rovers, if Friedel is going, spend the money wisely and don't go and sign a goalkeeper who has been leaking poor goals, and is majorly majorly overvalued...

Blimey don't think much of yourself do you? 99% of rovers fans hey!

I for one could deal with us getting Robinson, if the fee was realistic. Confidence is his main problem, it has been taken away by the media but at little Blackburn Rovers he would be left to get on with it.

Rustu is way way way past his best. A long Barge pole would be called for.

Drobny has had 2 spells in England, neither of them went well. 0 appearances!

I don't know anything about Benaglio but his record doesn't sound to good either.

For me it is vital that the keeper knows the league and way it is played but you could just go for pure future talent. If they would move to us and we could afford them then there a couple of very good young keepers out there to take a chance on.

Akinfeev (Russian Number 1 at 22)

Stekelenburg (Ajax)

Neuer (Schalke)

My first post after 'lurking' for years, and get the feeling it's not going to go down well, but Hello Good Evening and welcome anyway...

I've thought for the last couple of years that Brad has deteriorated in terms of his all-round game. He still pulls off some phenomenal stops but he doesn't command his area as well as many other keepers and his habit of parrying the ball into the 6 yard box rather than pushing it around the post makes me nervous. The fact that he makes the initial save tends to overshadow this and his brilliant reflexes mean people don't notice the more subtle weaknesses to his game. He also seems to struggle with free-kicks, maybe he can't adjust his feet too well at his age.

I love Brad as much as the next man, but if we can line up a suitable replacement (Foster?) I'd take £2.5m for a 37 year old.

Go easy...

What a quite memorable first post incecticide. You say Brad's losing his powers yet MoN, Hughes (and possibly even Arsene Wenger) obviously rate him big time and worth 2.5m + wages. You write well, you are obvously middle aged BUT you speak complete piffle. Why choose now to make your first post and why choose this subject?

First choice.

Guzan may not get a work permit. Villa expect him to arrive in January.

Very shrewd business for them - a keeper of some stature and a young apprentice to learn beside him.

Remember they want TWO keeprs.

And on the time factor...Villa are in Europe shortly - so they will want Brad fast.

How much is Friedels wages at Blackburn then ? If he get such a great deal at villa, cant we higher his wages a bit to lower the difference?

Bear in mind that Villa are offering Brad a THREE-YEAR deal at big money...he is only at Rovers for two more and on lesser money.
