I suspect your not actually going to put a case forward. Stop being the playground bitch and tell me why he was never any good. ''You guys'' are gonna have to put a case forward. Just how did he get all those caps. Just why did Spurs buy him?

Phil Neville: 59 England caps.

And name me one particularly good in form keeper that Robbo kept out of the England side when he was earning those caps? He was the most in form of a bad bunch.

My hoping view of the transfermarket:

August:

- We keep all of our players

- We buy one good 4 mill rated rightback

- We buy one very good 15 mill rated offensive midfielder

January:

- We see how things going, and maybe sell a player we dont need.

Tho.. I know.. this prob wont be the case..

You're ignoring the fact that doubling his wages and EXTENDING his contract would set us back far more than the difference for signing Robinson, who I'm sure would earn less than double of Friedels current deal.

I wouldn't say it would set us back far more, it would probably equate to around the same. Maybe a little more, but as I said stability is vital right now, Friedel won us so many points last season. He made a couple of errors but then so did Petr Cech.

young and english = why spurs signed

playing in big smoke for spuds and being english = playing for england

A case for what? Him being rubbish? You must have seen him Shillitto, he's dead poor. I suggest, if he wasn't being linked with us, you wouldn't be so defensive of his numerous failings.

Brad deserves a decent send off. What a great servant to our club.

"Blackburn Rovers is home to me. This is my club and I have a special affinity with it."

FRIEDEL WANTS TO LEAVE FOR MORE MONEY.

I have told you why he was never any good.

it wasnt so long ago paul robinson was englands number 1-theres a reason why he was,

Because all current England goalkeepers are poor. Being the best of a bad bunch is nothing to shout about.

Loan until jan, with a fee set in stone now of £2.5m tops. Let him prove he's not complete garbage and hope like hell brown is an able depuety until jan if he really is bad. If the worst comes to the worst that would have to be the negotiation, he's not worth anywhere near £5m, you have to take wages into account on transfers in the way that no one is willing to pay a fee for shevchenko, a player whose career has died prematurely!

Just a question for the anti-Robinson posters, supposing Brad stays for another 12 months and next season has a shocker? In 12 months time everybody will be saying who are we going to get to replace him? The chance to sign Robinson may not be the same next year.

As good as Brad was last season,he did make more mistakes than he normally would, and his distribution was for the biggest part of the season woeful.

Supposing his distribution starts to lead to more goals being scored against us?

Nobody who supports Rovers wants to see Brad go and in an ideal world we could keep him for at least another 12 months, but all the same nobody wants to see his legendary status (and rightfully so!)tarnished.

P.s one of the best keepers in the prem last season was David James who had an absolute stormer,Who would have thought that 12 months ago?

Even then, I would want someone better than Robisnon and that would probably have to be a foreigner.

As good as Brad was last season,he did make more mistakes than he normally would, and his distribution was for the biggest part of the season woeful. He was at fault for 2 goals all season. He also won more MOTM polls on this forum than any other player (if you add the missing Chelsea awayy poll). His distribution has always been the weakest part of his game. There was no evidence last year in my eyes that Brad was losing his powers.

Supposing his distribution starts to lead to more goals being scored against us? It's always been like that. His kicking has always been the weak part of his game. I'll tell you what though. It won't concede us more goals next year than replacing him with Robinson would.

Maybe but try to replace hiim with someone of a similar quality - not someone who has been well short of Brads form for years.

I know what you are saying, but which keeper would you want to replace him with?

There is definitely a big shortage on class keepers at the moment with Villa,Arsenal,Fulham,Everton,Middlesbrough and Newcastle(Given struggles with too many injuries these days)all struggling to get very good keepers.

As proved with James at Pompey a keeper going through a bad spell CAN rediscover his best form given the chance.

Friedel is almost a year younger than David James. Brad had one of his best seasons last season though, he had a couple of errors but so did the likes of Cech and he was easily top three in the league.

Harry Rednapp?

Well it does sound as though Brad will be leaving which is a crying shame to say the least. Nothing lasts forever though and he is getting on a bit. Better that he goes now rather than age catching up with him at Ewood? Do we have a choice?

Paul Robinson. £2m was mentioned in the News Of The World. He has a lot to prove and a lot to do if he wants that England jersey back. We'd provide a very good platform for him to do that. On his day (see Hughesy's post at 17:50) he's very good - and his best years are to come, 28 is young for a keeper. We could get another 10 years out of him and then sell him to Villa when Brad retires.

I still can't get my head around the Robbie Fowler thing though.

Friedel leaves, robinson in.robinson does well, and leaves after 2 seasons.same old story.i would rather have brad play til he is 50,at the club he loves.

If Robinson does well after 2 seasons and decides to leave he will go for a lot more money than we will have payed for him.

I don't know but, without sounding like I'm being a bit funny, it's not my job to. Thats why managers have scouts. I know I would rather have the lad at Bolton (Al Habsi) than Robinson but he's probably not available now they've stopped up.

Last year when looking for a striker no-one on here even mentioned Santa Cruz because we either didn't know who he was or didn't know he was available.

And when we did we all questioned him.
