Blue n White Rover Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Which ever way you play around with the figures, Arsenal will value the deal at 17mill for DB 17 mill - 50 % = 8.5 mill - 3 mill or 3.5 mill not sure = 5.5 or 5 mill to Arsenal we get 12 - 5.5 or 5 + 2.5 for Brad, So that's about 9 mil + a keeper. l I think. Best thing is to do the Bentley and Robbo deal separetly. £17million for Bentley will leave us with £10million after we give Arsenal their cut. From that £10million, £4million will go towards Robinson so leaves us with £6million +£2.5million for Brad = £8.5million for a replacement and £10million our original Transer Kitty = £18.5million. I give up!

my_name_is_Earl Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Does anyone know if tickets are just on the door for tomorrows game or can you get them down at Ewood beforehand? Also, like the majority of people on this thread, I am a huge fan of Brad. I honestly cant think of another player in the last fifteen years (other than tugs) who has so passionately worn the badge. However, times change and with it, the bigger picture changes. Brad is still one of the finest keepers in the league but if (as Nicko says) the situation works out for all concerned then we have to move on and look forward although I have the feeling that there will be an uproar if he's sold. Robinson is a good keeper, certainly top-half premiership ability. He has made some mistakes over the last year but maybe the move to Rovers will be great for him and us. I feel the more relaxed environment at Ewood (in comparison to North London and the other clubs which are more scrutinised than us) will bring out the best in him and he's still got a lot to prove at a relatively young age. After reading therough pages and pages of this thread, I am a little concerned that some of us are not so forward thinking and are hanging onto the relative success Hughes has brought the club. Although that is understandable, that time has gone and the club are in a transition. As much as some of us dont like it, we need to accept the current situation. Naturally, there are some shocking developments in a transitional period but we shall overcome them as we always do. I cant help but get annoyed after reading so many 'INCE OUT' posts, for christ sakes, we've not even played a game yet!!!
T4E Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Gladly, The sale of Bentley is all that Arsenal are interested in. His value in this sale is £17m regardless of what we pay for Robinson. Arsenal get half the profit over £3m therefore £7m. If Spurs pay us £12m cash we pass on to Arsenal £7m leaving us with £5m cash. Thats a bit ######, isn't it?

Im getting confused. Working out the 2 deals separetly means Rovers get more cash. How does that work?
modes98 Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Spurs want £5 million for Robinson. IMO we should keep them serperate. We do not want a move for Robinson to become the platform for a Bentley move. Offer them £3-4m on the premise that they are actively seeking to get rid of him. Then if they come back with £17m cash for Bentley in a few weeks Ince should decide then. With the links to joaquin, etc, today i fear that Bentley will be part of the deal and we'll lose both Brad and Benters. Ironic that a couple of videos below is the keeper that other have been touting around that we should go for being lobbed by Robinson. That goal is more Nevilles fault than Robinson's. The first rule of a backpass is to aim it wide of the goal. Come to think about it Rio has a problem with that one as wel.
67splitscreen Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Let me make this clear. ARSENAL DO NOT HAVE A 50% SELL-ON CLAUSE ON DAVID BENTLEY!! I know this for a fact, i just cannot reveal my source. He is an ex player, still involved at the club and used to be a good friend of Uncle Jack. i remember you posting this, what's seems years ago. A close friend of Jack's if I'm correct. I hope your rite.
Blue n White Rover Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 How does it? Bentley £17million yeah, £7million to Arsneal, £10million to Rovers. From that £10million we buy Robinson for £4million so that leaves us with £6million and we get £2.5million for Brad that leaves us with £8.5million right or wrong?
Hughesy Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Trust me on this one. He told me he believed there is a clause in there, but no where near that high.

The calculation is right if the figures are. I used £5m as the cost of Robinson in mine and didn't add on the Friedel deal.

Better way for the club would for both clubs to screw Arsenal on any clause. Sell bentley for £14m, pay spurs £1m for robinson. Its the same money difference, only difference is that we only sell bentley for a lower figure.

If Nixon is right then we should be paying around £4million for Robinson. did you miss out the Friedel deal on purpose or was it a mistake?
Antgrad Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 If Nixon is right then we should be paying around £4million for Robinson. did you miss out the Friedel deal on purpose or was it a mistake? On purpose. I thought we were trying to figure out how much we'd get from Spurs net of the Arsenal payment.
my_name_is_Earl Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Pay at the turnstile tomorrow night Cheers aggy
67splitscreen Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Did someone say earlier, this weekend could not get any worse. Talk about Custer's last stand, It better be like the Alamo, when Roque get's back in town.
Hughesy Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 It isnt all bad. Sell a 37 year old for £2.5m, pay an extra £1-1.5m on a new keeper 9 years younger, possible future international again. And more importantly - english which if Blatter gets his 6+5 rule in we will need. Bentley leaving for £17m ish, after we paid £3m. Possibly replacing him with someone good - but nicko is keeping that one quiet.
my_name_is_Earl Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 This is gonna go down badly but is anybody else excited about the coming season? As much as Hughes was a great success here, im excited about the change. I think things were going stale from a general point of view (ie moaning about lack of money/hanging onto bentley/Hughes realising that nobody likes us) and its nice to see things freshened up and some positive (yet slightly controversial) moves being made behind the scenes. So who else is excited and dont all talk at once?

Spurs release robinson, mutual consent will do he signs for us on a free. We sell Bents for 13M, we get 8M they get 5M we make more money, gooners lose out on 2M. Everyones happy but Arsene
Hughesy Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Thats the way we should do it. Why should Rovers & Spurs care about Arsenal - they should only try to hinder bigger clubs. Makes good business sense to me. Dont forget we are also being linked with Brazilian Belletti too - he would be a good right back - any truth nicko?

MancVillan Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Still can't believe we are paying £2.5m and 50k a week for Brad Friedel, a 37 year old. This tv deal (and a billionaire owner) has done funny things to football.
LeChuck Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 REALLY?! Deary me, you're actually citing that as a reason to be angry about his possible arrival? He's not the first goalkeeper that's been made to look stupid by a bobble in the pitch (Flowers anyone?), and he certainly won't be the last. Just look at the ball jump as he goes to kick it, there's absolutely nothing he can do about it other than hope that he gets lucky and it hits his shin or something.
LeChuck Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 A video by a fan of Robbo showing us just what he can do... Great tune as well! Enjoyed that video, he does have every aspect a top goalkeeper needs, I think his confidence just took a hammering when the media stupidly jumped on things like I quoted in the post above. ...I had to watch it with the sound off though, that song is bloody horrible!
