RibbleValleyRover Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Good player - and he can take a corner. I haven't see much of him myself, but i see Walter Smith said he wants to sign him permanently for Rangers, but he said they can't afford the £4 million asking price. I'd be interested to hear from ffan or some of the Villa fans on how they rate him. According to wiki he looked a great prospect at Villa, winning awards and was touted as the next Lampard.

nicko Posted July 14, 2008 Author Posted July 14, 2008 Nicko, are we still interested in Steven Davis? I was never very convinced about that one...still not.
Blue n White Rover Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Nicko with the talks on going today between Spurs and Rovers, will we know today what is going to be happening with Brad or not? Will we also find out more on that mystery Right Winger?
laughatthedingles Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Guys, look at it this way, we are replacing friedel (which was going to need to happen sooner or later) with an england keeper for 1.5mil (robbo = 4mil - 2.5mil for brad). Not that bad a deal is it? Bentley goes = 10mil so we have 18mil left (basing on the original 10mil, excluding the 3mil from walkers renewed support) to find what, a right back = 2-3mil could get a top quality couple of midfielders for the remaining 15 or so mil (taking out the signing on fees of those mentioned). Not that bad a summer eh?
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Does it matter? I haven't seen much of Davis so any opinions on him or more background info would be interesting as we have been linked to him.
bringdunnback Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Davis is rubbish, why would Villa rid of him, better yet why would Fulham want rid. Stay clear, another Barry Ferguson, can only hack it in SPL.

Will we also find out more on that mystery Right Winger? Rovers and Tottenham need to agree the fees on Bentley and Robinson - that would normally be hard as Spurs are tyime-wasters. But in this case they know they have to agree a deal to stop rivals from coming in like Villa, Liverpool and Everton if they raise cash themselves. Rovers won't let Brad go to Villa until Robinson is in the bag. I believe that most of the available seniors are playing tonight - as we speak. I can't go into the right winger's name, it's too delicate at the moment.

BringOnNextSeason Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 arsenal only have a 20% sell on fee if this is to be believed. seems alot more realistic than 50% http://www.arsenal.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=508122

Muamba's was 40 per cent which Birmingham settled for. Harper's is 40 per cent which Reading were happy about. I understand Bentley's is 50 per cent as he was the 'best' of the bunch. This figure is based on info from inside your club and also from inside clubs trying to buy the player. The only proof would be in the contract, which I have not seen, but the sources who have told me said the same thing.
blue/white Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 A reserve team coach? Perhaps Rovers will resort to a tactic seen around here in the Major Leagues. When a 'green' manager is hired, a wizened old 'grey beard' baseball man is hired as his 'bench coach'. More like a nanny, but you get the idea..... Can anyone get that imagine: hmmmm... say a Joe Royal type coming in to hold Incey's hand through the first year(s)?
nicko Posted July 14, 2008 Author Posted July 14, 2008 Does he, have the quality, that we are all hoping for. Is he a risky buy. Top talent.

I think that's what Ray Mathias and Archie Knox will do...although I am not sure they would like the grey and wizened description.

nicko Posted July 14, 2008 Author Posted July 14, 2008 is bentley and friedal playing tonight??? As it stands, yes.
nicko Posted July 14, 2008 Author Posted July 14, 2008 Proven talent? Easy, tiger. I can't go into any details on this. I got the info on an off-the-record basis and said I would leave it that way until it was close. I stick to those type of agreements with contacts.
VillaSimon Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Steven Davis - I thought he was alright here at villa, Some reason he did'nt fit into MON's plans, Decent passer of the ball the only thing that probably let him down was his height (5'7"). Makes you wonder why Lawrie Sanchez bought him as all of fulhams midfielders at the time were around 5'6" - 5'7". Good ability and won a few awards here at villa as a fans favourite, would have been nice to see him do better. Only lasted 6 months at Fulham before being shipped out on loan so I guess he could'nt settle in London. I think if you guys signed him he'd do alright with the 'closer to home' factor.
67splitscreen Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Dave Shannon, ex Liverpool academy director. The new boss likes his Anfield recruits... I thought, there may have been more debate today, with regard the pending appointment of the reserve team coach.

Is the mystery right winger Ronaldo?
