Easy, tiger. I can't go into any details on this. I got the info on an off-the-record basis and said I would leave it that way until it was close. I stick to those type of agreements with contacts.

Fair play, I didn't think that would give away much more information but I can see why you'd want to keep quiet.

Any time scale as to when we will find out who this "top talent" is ?

Say maybe tonight, thinking along the lines of 9pm :P

Nicko, I thought you said Man City had no money? ;)

Gutted if Bentley is going to Spurs, find it incredibly hard to believe that we haven't been in for him. Especially when the General made a blip and even said so. I think we may have bid, but Bentley doesn't want to live in Birmingham.

As for Robbo, I think you guys are getting a good goalkeeper.

Nicko with the talks on going today between Spurs and Rovers, will we know today what is going to be happening with Brad or not?

Will we also find out more on that mystery Right Winger?

do you honestly think he can answer that question...

so many crazy questions on this topic means you have top trawl through 2 pages to get one insightful post

Why not? He said there will be talks between the two clubs regarding the 2 deals. So there may be an outcome...I was just wondering if that outcome would be today or not!!

Proven talent?

This sort of thing will always be very difficult for him to answer, as it is likely to spawn a million guesses and no doubt someone will get it right, thus jeopardising the deal.

Add to that, when nothing comes of it someone will make accusations of story changing and hedging bets.

Man City are getting what we in Glasgow call a 'good using.'

It suits Barcelona to say they have a bid while AC Milan are in town to negotiate.

It also suits Man City to look big.

City have spent the last three months trying to get sponsors for the Ronaldinho project...they can't afford him unless they do that.

I will say again - City did not have enough money to 'sign' your old manager. They had to borrow the cash.

Have they just robbed a bank to get the Ronaldinho dough?

Think about it.

When I know I will tell you...within reason.

Like I say, Tottenham are hopeless to deal with - so in a swap it must qualify as a double nightmare with cheese.

But they HAVE to do business on Bentley fast as others could come in if they can raise funds.

The clock is ticking on this, which is actually very good news all round.

nicko, so basically the deal is bentley to sign for tottenham for 17million-7million to go arsenal-4million from us to for paul robinson??

or is it 17million plus robinson-cant see this tho...

Those figures, presented alone like that, have pretty much no value when judging who's the better goalkeeper. Its like saying having a return on your investment of 10k is better than having a retrun on 8k with no more information given.

Other information would include they both played premiership, european, domestic cups. Robinson played in additional international matches. The question was asked about clean sheets so i looked into it.

The number of 25 yarders that will be flying in will be amazing. Go look at Tugays wonder strike against Tottenham at Ewood a couple of seasons ago.

Your looking at a single aspect of his game. You can do the same with Brad and say that his command of area, judgement on crosses and free kick saving are all questionable. No keeper is perfect. I doubt many keepers would have saved that Tugay goal, but Robinson's positioning is something that Steele would have to work on, along with his random coming for crosses.

Bit of an eye opener that one, eh?

Out of interest, where have you got the info from?

Taken from Soccerbase, just looked down at their appearances for the last 4 seasons and added up the number of 0's for spurs and rovers. So there could be occasions where Robinson has been taken off and been brought on, whereas Brad has appeared in all but the game where he got injured at half time.

Stats don't show everything but for me it was last season's total which is the biggest shocker. to be at the same level as Brad when he has had a poor season and not played as many games.

That is about the size of it.

If only clubs could see things in such a straightforward way...we wouldn't all be hanging on for results.

Rovers won't drop the figure, so I think there wil be a 'difference' of £13 million in values.

Of course, it might be smart to sell Bentley for £15 million, give Arsenal a bit less of the sell-on and buy Robinson for £3 million. I think someone hinted at that idea earlier...quite shrewd.

Friedel has been superb, but you never know how long a keeper will last. I would have had no worries about him next season - or probably the one after.

Robinson has gone off spectacularly, but was a very good keeper as a younger man. It's a repair job and he needs to improve both physically and mentally t5o get back to where he was. But if the price is right it's a gamble worth taking.

If I could think of a better one I would suggest it.

You never know who's watching...

Nicko, has there been any solid interest in Roque?

If we end up losing Brad, Roque and Bents, the short term future looks disastrous, particularly if they go to the clubs mentioned.

I would be uneasy about this one because I know Arsenal have him short-listed and the Tottenham link today is worrying as they leak things before they do them.

However all the info I have is that Roque is happy...but he does have people around him who smell a buck.

Push me and I would predict he stays - and possibly gets a bigger contract as a 'reward.'

I have to stress that is a guess.

I would definately give him a bigger contract in order to keep him, the guy is vital to our future.
