Loving the Alexander of the Second Castle line

Yeah i liked that one as well.

i don't know the best place to research statistics

Soccerbase played profile is where i got it from. They detail the games the players have played in, so i just went down and counted the 0s. There may be the odd one either way as i did it quickly to try and not get spotted at work but near enough as.

I'm guessing Modes was including cup competitions, where Robinson has likely played more games.

Yep as i said it includes every competitive game played in that year, (League, Cup, Europe and International).

There could be white smoke from the direction of Tottenham...

I understand they are signing a SECOND keeper and my mole informs me that is because 'Paul Robinson is going to Blackburn Rovers.'

Don't know the Spurs signing's name...working on it.

I love this thread... :D

So has he signed, or not.

Castillo's agents - quite a lot of them - have been in talks with Rovers for over a week.

One of them seems to think he has cracked the deal and is trying to sort it out for the player to arrive, subject to visas etc. Obviously if he turned up in Germany there would be no problem with that...

I think there are several problems to be ironed out on this one, like the third-party ownership issues and - probably above all - the size of the fee.

But it is progressing...

Sorry, this question might sound a bit dim, so forgive me?

Surely if Man City aren't funding the Ronaldinho bid, then it is someone else, aka, a third party bidder?

I thought that was against Premier League rules?

Oh and btw, id rather have Ben Foster then Robinson to replace Brad...

No, anyone can pay wages or sponsor a player.

Techincally speaking most clubs are probably 'third-party' owned by a bank...

Reporter on Radio Lancs said Bentley hasn't travelled down for the game, but Brad has!

You're right. They are showing pictures on SSN at the moment.

Bents isn't there, Brad is.

Looks like Bents is def off.

Robbie Savage got off the Rovers bus as well. They gave him a lift to the games as he lives nearby. :D

Man City's offer is supposed to be bigger. AC Milan are in Barcelona today to negotiate because they think he wants to join them - but Barca obviously want the biggest fee possible.

It's a pantomime...only no-one is laughing.

Nicko, do you think there is any chance Arsenal will go in for Gareth Barry?

I have heard that...but it does come as a surprise.

I wouldn't rule out Chelsea either.

Liverpool obviously need Alonso out - which was the case from the word go.

It's a sick joke . All this nonsense with players is beyond a joke. Pele made the comment that a player should honour his contract. But I think the contract is not worth the paper it's written on. If a club enforced a contarct it would be interesting what the outcome would be. It's funny I thought a contract, once signed, was legally binding by all the parties signing it. Obviously not.

Would love Joaquin. Valencia seriously lost their way last year despite having a stellar squad. Obviously they would like to get as much as possible for him, but as the summer wears on that price will drop - he apparently doesn't figure in the new mans plans. I'm surprised the sharks haven't hit them yet - there are some really good players at that club. Joaquin is pacy, tricky, technically very good, accurate shooting and a good crosser of the ball. Mind you, I thought Luque was quite good before Newcastle, so my opinion shouldn't be worth very much!

The reason for all this messing is that some clubs (Bosman case...) used the players contractual obligations to attempt to ruin his career. The current situation is crazy though, there should be some standard "not talking about other clubs) in a players contract....

If Brad was off, why is he playing? They are obviously not risking it with Bentley. My opinion is that Bentley is off in London somewhere having talks with Spurs :(

But I don't see Bentley being part of the Robbo deal, and if he is - is it really that close? If Blackburn knew they were close to getting Robbo, would Blackburn risk Brad getting injured? I'd say the Robinson deal isn't close, whereas the Bentley one is all a bit of guesswork but I'd put my money on Spurs.

Blackburn is a nice town surounded by rolling countryside. The Ribble Valley (Where Brockhall is) is one of the most desireable places in the country to live and has the HRH stamp of approval. The Queen has stated she would like to retire there. It is 10 miles from Manchester Centre (and this hurts) which is the most coming city in the country and the 2nd wealthiest area outside London. Blackburn is currently kept on it's feet by the new engineering industries - largely aircraft manufacture.

Birmingham must have nice areas but my recollection of it passing through on the motorway was of a dirty run down industrial conglomeration still trying to come to terms with it's demising industrial heretige. Sorry!

Digbeth Bus station :blink::(

No team news yet and the kick off is 3mins away.

However the rovers site says alot of reserves in. It wouldn't suprise me to see brown in goal or a swap at half time.

edit: temas in

ROVERS: Friedel, Reid, Samba, Nelsen, Warnock, Derbyshire, Dunn, Vogel, Pedersen, Roberts, McCarthy. Subs to follow, they certainly aren't the players listed on the team sheet.
