No team news yet and the kick off is 3mins away.

However the rovers site says alot of reserves in. It wouldn't suprise me to see brown in goal or a swap at half time.

edit: temas in

ROVERS: Friedel, Reid, Samba, Nelsen, Warnock, Derbyshire, Dunn, Vogel, Pedersen, Roberts, McCarthy. Subs to follow, they certainly aren't the players listed on the team sheet.

no Rocky and Bentley intresting!!!!!

Pasted from the site: 'This live commentary and live online radio broadcast pre season friendly match between Macclesfield Town and Blackburn Rovers will be the English Premier League’s team first preseason friendly match as they look to life without Mark Hughes. Mark Hughes stabilised the club and brought them forward on a limited budget which they only had after the early nineties when they had the riches of Jack Walker to help them to their only EPL title so far. But now they have a new manager in Paul Ince who will field his first side in this live online streaming soccer game and many are wondering how well he will cope. It will be his first time as manager of an English Premier League side in this live commentary and live online TV telecast pre season friendly match between Macclesfield Town and Blackburn Rovers and one wonders if he has the necessary experience to cope.'

So is it just commentary then...? Confused. Live TV telecast...? But on the site it's just audio... help!

Incecticide just a warning that links to live video aren't allowed on here.

I was hoping it would be on Radio Lancs

Radio Lancs speculated just before 7:00 PM that there would be 11 substitutes.

I think i speak for everyone on here when i say. we wish Friedel all the best, whether he is playing for us, or has moved on for one final cash injection.

I met the guy in London a great many years ago, and i must say, i have never met a funnier, more subtle and genuinely nice guy in my life.

I respect he will make the right decision for the club he loves and himself.

One thing i will say though, and again, speaking for 99% of everyone else...

We dont want Robinson, and we dont like him...

Please Rovers, if Friedel is going, spend the money wisely and don't go and sign a goalkeeper who has been leaking poor goals, and is majorly majorly overvalued...

My choices if we have to get a replacement for Brad would be:

- Diego Benaglio

- Rüştü Reçber

- Jaroslav Drobný

Is that the royal "We"? in other words are you just speaking for yourself or also for all the rest of us?

Im sorry, the vast majority of people on here change their minds about as often as they take breaths of oxygen.

When i posted that comment yesterday, everyone was apposed to Robinson coming...

In other news, Paul Robinson has been given a trial by Darlington FC :lol:http://www.sportinglife.com/football/transfer_centre/

Edit: Damn link doesnt work properly, a 29 year old striker named Paul Robinson has been given a trial by Darlington. Woulda been funny!

I would bet good money on him staying.

if someone like arsenal come in for him, he will be off no doubt about it. He has said he is happy at Blackburn, but if a big club comes in for him and offers the right money, there is nothing Rovers can do.

How have they won?

In two years time we will have a 29 year old Robinson and no need to spend a fortune on another keeper.

It's not rocket science. Sentimentality is not a reason for keeping Friedel. If he wants to stay he can do, yet it appears he wants to leave.

(Contrary to the thenodrogs twisted version of events, I don't imagine that Ince is packing his bags for him)

Thats OK then Bucky. When you put it like that it makes perfect sense. That MoN must be an absolutely bloody useless manager eh?

We'll have an out of form keeper, a good left back, a promising centre back in Samba (but who looked erratic at times last season), Nelsen doesnt seem to be the player he was, god knows who we'll get in at right back, no quality whatsoever in midfield (I liked Vogel but he's not a matchwinner), hopefully one quality striker (but who's just had one very good season and has lost his main supply) and not much else. Maybe Benni will come to the party but I wouldn't count on it. We have no knowledge of Ince's transfer record and how well he'll do. We forget just how many multi million pound duds get bought as Hughes spoilt us.

Boro have a great forward line (Alves and Tuncay), Downing and Aliadiére in midfield and a pretty solid defence with the likes of Wheater, Huth and Pogatetz.

Newcastle have the quality to finish above us and looked pretty good after their losing run - question mark over their manager but question marks over ours too.

Sunderland did pretty well in their first season back up last season and will have a lot of cash to spend again.

Bolton, Fulham and Wigan - we'd hope we finish above them but as I said, there's really not that much quality in our team either. And with a new manager who knows how we'll do. Bolton have just signed Elmander, Wigan have still got Valencia...you'd hope we finish higher than them but if we have a bad start....

side note to that TG

Boro - same team as yesterseason with a couple of unknown additions in the midfield. Still will play as crap as last season.

Newcastle - again same team as last year, no real additions and the squad lighter with the loss of Emre and ameobi lol

Sunderland have mega money thats why they are resigning the full back McCartney and he will make a real improvement on last seasons team wont he? Also allowed Yorke another season pulling the strings in the middle. A team going nowhere fast.

Our GMP neighbours ? Both poor squads going nowhere but down.

Fulham ? Not even going to comment despite the money being spent.

teams coming up ? WBA might just challenge Sunderland for the coveted 4th from bottom spot.

ROVERS

Still have the nucleus of a solid team. Accepted, Rovers will lose Bentley and most likely Brad. In return they gain an England keeper in ROBINSON, and yes I actually rate him despite his cock ups. Most likely they will gain a right sided midfielder in the form of Pennant. On his day, he is just as good as Bentley on the right, certainly faster and will probably have a better scoring ration per games played. RSC will stay, add Roberts, Benni and Derbyshire and were solid up front. The addition of a central midfielder and right back are all thats required and with the money coming in I think Rovers will compensate for their losses.

The squad is still good enough for a top 8 finish even without Bentley. Remember, towards the end of last season, Rovers played some negative football, Bentley didnt exactly excel and Brad had a couple of nightmare games - add in Hughes tactical cock ups and we stillonly just missed out on 6th spot.

All is not gloom and doom despite what our fellow members are writing.

Guys, look at it this way, we are replacing friedel (which was going to need to happen sooner or later) with an england keeper for 1.5mil (robbo = 4mil - 2.5mil for brad). Not that bad a deal is it?

Paul Robinson might just find being in the England set-up a little more difficult once he leaves Spurs for BRFC.

Nicko's thread is very tangled up here. Could we have Nicko sub threads mods?

eg:

- Nicko's Friedel Thread

- Nicko's Bentley (and and his 'Replacement Thread')

- Nicko on Robbo's Thread

- Nicko's next 'attacking midfield' thread

- Nicko's Guess the 'next coach to arrive thread'

- Nicko's Tips of the Day thread

- Nicko on the Dingles thread

oh and

Nicko on the Takeover thread.

(Hope this is okay with Nicko)

Nicko's guess whose happiest now at BRFC thread

Blackburn is hardly the greatest place in the world, and I'm pretty sure Birmingham is a major step up from your town. No offense. He wants to go to London - nothing to do with Birmingham as a city imo. Twisted my words a little there. But never mind.

Blackburns a dump so thats why all our lot live in posh areas of Manchester or Cheshire. How many of your lot live close by Villa park btw?
