A lot of bluffing and counter bluffing going on at the moment.

Rovers are willing to sell Bent for £17 million.

Rovers are willing to sell Brad for £2.5 mill as long as they get Robinson for £4 million.

Issues, Spurs want more than £4 million for Robinson.

Spurs and Villa offering less than £17 million for Bent.

Brad not going anywhere without Robinson!!-

Am I close Nicko?

I think the only appealing thing may be that he likes the color?

I can not see anything (except Europe this year) that would be better.

I do not recall Birmingham being the cultural center of England or anything.

Bentley likes Claret and Blue?

If the news becomes official in all the papers that Villa have bid for Bentley, whether it was today or not, i'm sure it will give Spurs a kick up the arse and stop flapping around and being awkward. Maybe it's a case of...if you start to play ball, we can get this sorted ASAP Spurs, if not then you can kiss him goodbye!

Surely Spurs will HAVE to act now.

Who are you again? A Manc who supports Villa? Maybe not.

I think you will find the info is right.

What did the manager say - he's a good player and we don't want to lose him.

That's original.

A Villa fan who was born in Birmingham and lived their for many, many years. Now live in the NW in Manchester, yes. Season ticket holder at Villa. Is that a problem? Who are you sir - your standard journo who has led many people to believe that their hero (Brad) was leaving the football club?

I haven't seen the interview yet, did he say that about Bentley? - Then obviously he would. Of course Bentley is going. He can't/won't stay after what he said, and I'm surprised Rovers fans still want to see him at the club. He's basically told you, you're not good enough, just like Barry did for us. Let him go. Get a good deal.

I was talking more about Friedel and Robbo - your sources are misinformed - the manager just declared Friedel one of the best goalkeepers in the Prem, no? Why would he then go and sell him? Come on.

Its just cat and mouse at the moment. Rovers obviously dont want to sell Bentley, unless its on their terms - simple. I.e. anyone thats interested, Villa have made an official bid, it wasnt good enough, everyone hurry up and bid higher.

Brad & Bentley will both go I think.

Obviously because he is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League. It would be stupid for him not to say that. Ince has said he doesn't want Friedel to go but with Villa possibly offering 3 year deal + stupid wages each week then why should Ince and Blackburn Rovers stand in a way of a man so respected at Ewood Park.

Brilliant interview just what i needed to hear! fairly emphatic brad going nowhere in my opinion. No interest in robinson, just what i needed to hear! Now all i need is for him to say fowlers only here for some after dinner speaking or something! :rover:

Aston Villa make move for Bentley

Blackburn boss Paul Ince has revealed that Aston Villa have put in an offer for midfielder David Bentley.

The England international, 23, did not play in Blackburn's pre-season victory at Macclesfield on Monday because of a calf problem picked up in training.

Bentley has made it clear that he wants to leave Blackburn and has also been linked Tottenham, who Ince says are yet to make an approach.

"We have had an offer from Aston Villa, but I do not want him to go," he said.

"But he is injured and he will have a couple of days off and I hope to take him to Germany on Wednesday for our training trip."

Bentley's current deal runs until 2011 and he is expected to cost Blackburn's Premier League rivals in the region of £17m.

"The David Bentley situation will not go away and only time will tell whether he is here in August," added Ince.

"He would have played here tonight if he had not been injured, but I know that in football players come and players go."

Thanks. See I can't get to the interview right now. I've read he said the links to Robbo were 'rubbish?'

I just don't think he'd say Brad is great, not interested in Robbo - then sell Brad and buy Robbo. The fans are already disheartened at rumours/in's at the club as it is.

Too many 'ifs' at the moment.

Bentley can go for £17 million. If Spurs won't pay it Villa might. Fine.

Rovers will still need a new keeper.

If Villa cough up the cash (for Bentley). Could Rovers offer Friedel better terms to keep him at Ewood.

It would cost Villa £20m ish to sign Brad & Bentley

Alan Nixon is a BRFCS legend.

Now behave yourself on his thread.

I apologise, but he was a tad bit rude to myself.

Am I not allowed to question his judgement? Your manager has just said things that put Nicko's claims into doubt. I'm simply asking if his sources could be mistaken. We all make mistakes. Happens everyday.

As for the Bentley thing - seems we have put in a bid some time ago, it got rejected. By declaring it, he's letting other interested parties know that Villa have made a bid. I still believe he will end up at Spurs, but not as part of a Robbo deal.

What has made me slightly happy about Inces comments is that in my view it should increase the likleyhood of not losing all three of our star players. If Bentley goes Ince can come out with the offer was too good and he couldn't keep him.

Ince will take a lot of flack if another player who he stated isn't going, goes as well.

Welcome to Blackburn Rovers mate. We are far better run than any club. Business sense would tell you that you dont publicly state that your player is for sale, it only lowers his value. Its abit like Poker, never show your true hand, you tell your opponents lies to get yourself the best deal.

mancvillan.

What is the wage structure at Villa, and who is the highest payed.

Well, this is why I was shocked about us paying Brad big money because I just don't see O'Neill bringing in a new keeper and make him on more money than Laursen, Gabby, Young, Carew etc

Oneill has always maintaned that he would pay big wages, but you have to earn it.

At the moment Barry is our top earner and is on around £45k.

It's very hard for non-Villa fans to understand that we are a completely new brand. It's very exciting times at Villa - highest gates in 50 years, a billionaire owner who isn't afraid to spend money - some of the things he has done are unbelievable, truly - and a great manager.

Bentley fits into what we are building - young and English - Gabby, Young, Reo-Coker, Sidwell, Davies.

I do apologise to Mr Nixon, I was simply questioning his sources. I still think Bentley will end up at Spurs.
