For the record I think Martin O'Neill is one of the best managers around and has been for years.

I wish Rovers could have appointed him after Sparky left but he was already contracted at Villa.

If the Villa HAVE got loads-a-money then good luck to them and maybe they can challenge the top three. We'll have to see.....

By the way, revenge will be sweet when you next visit Ewood :rover:

Lol. It probably will be. I've always seen Ewood as a bogey ground to be honest, but the last 2 seasons it's been a successful trip. Our luck will run out eventually.

Anyway, we play tomorrow, it will be interesting to see if O'Neill comments on it.

I think Ince has mentioned the Villa bid (as we were rejected by Rovers, or Bentley, or both) to press Spurs into making an offer, which they are yet to do. I don't think he will end up at Villa. He will go, and it will be Spurs. I just think Bentley is different to Reo-Coker, Davies and Young (of whom we beat off Spurs for all 3), in the fact that he wants to live back in London, and that is his biggest pull, whatever he says about Champions League football.

As we are going through a similar thing with Barry, I just hope you get the right money for him - money you deserve when all factors are taken into consideration. £17m or nothing. Ince may have even started a bidding war - but having just seen the interview - the deal was past tense, and add that to what was leaked by the club a few days ago (the general) I just get the feeling Bentley has said no to the Villa deal.

The difference between Barry and Bentley is that the former has served his club for ten years now. You can't really blame him for wanting to chance his arm elsewhere. However, I do think it would be better for English football if someone like Barry stayed and helped someone dislodge the top four which is suffocating the modern game.

See? There are more fishes in the sea. Just get over the old Welsh trout. Boring old goat anyway...seriously did you ever come away with even a semi after 90 minutes with Hughes? Well only a Semi with a capital 'S'. Just a little more edgy now isn't it? So now you have had a little fumble and it doesnt look too bad does it? Never shown you the defensive coach before? Nice one. Admit it... your heart is pumping because you just might get the biggest ride of your Blue n White life with this boy. Well better than the boyo every time... Dunny looked liked he'd shaved his legs for the sexy season ahead.

Feisty bird on the interview is Caesar Ince. Looked like he would deck the spotted fecker from SSN if he pushed the Gay Icon issue. Who cares whether he is or isn't? Fact is his calf strain has put a little fear in the cocky cockney.

Stop all this moaning about the girl next door. She's gone with the old Thai sixy tourist whose paid for it out of his pension.

Fact is, for the first time it's all a bit new and people are looking at us walking in the nightclub wondering whether we are going to get involved with the big city boys like we do every season. Course we will. With attitude this time. And if anyone doesnt fancy walking in with Incey, they will no doubt get laid out in the bogs and another warrior will step up. 38 and want more cash? Fine.

Because this is what we do. No money for decades when all else have. Don Mackay.....and when everyone is struggling we lash the cash. Kenny and wewalk off with the Prem. Thanks for coming. And when we're down and when a lunatic, allegedly dodgy, no track record with no money Souness is being ignored, we take him on.

Go up, win the Cup and kick feck out of Burnley.

Then when the money's out, the Tashtastic has gone Toonside, we take on someone who has no track record (again), no money, no first level coaching qualifications (getting warm?), no staff with any credibility (sound familiar) and totally and utterly feck off every patronising MancVilla, every sneering Gary Lineker, every (Please dont use that word again) Wenger, with our veealent behaviour. Oh, oh how i love. it. Remember they hate you and me. Our rubbish away support, our crappy boxes, our @#/? weather and our piddling live audiences for the bloated, stinking, puss seeping TV game show Super Duper Smashin Sunday bollixfest. They want us out... Sheff Weds and Utd, Wolves and Leeds, anything to add a pathetic narrative to a world wide wrestling federation infested lumpenproletariat. Disastrously, irritatingly, caustically, feckuallingly, we refuse to go....and. get this. if you are really, really, really fecked off with this block on a smooth city by city franchise run off...who would be the most irritating bloke to laugh at your 0898 corporate greed?

Paul Ince. The glory. The Rovers.

For Spanish speakers...with thanks to an excellent source for the guidance to find this story.

EXCLUSIVO.

ER - YEAH I FULLY UNDERSTOOD ABSOLUTELY NOTHING :brfcsmilie:

Just to help nicko out on the Paul Ince comments

"When I came to Blackburn, I said I wanted to keep my best players, and Brad Friedel comes into that category. He is one of the best keepers in the Premier League.

There is no interest from me in Paul Robinson. As far as I am concerned, I want to keep Brad. I do not want to sell Brad, so why should I want Paul Robinson? " Paul Ince

Writes off the Robinson rumour and Brad going "scoop" in one paragraph. Nicko are you sure you don't want to back down a little here? We all get things wrong from time to time and unless you are calling Ince a liar, or that there are forces above him that pulling the strings which sounds more like Chelsea than Rovers it may be time to check your sources..

The important bit's underlined now - the story is as it has been said over the last few days. Ince does not WANT to sell Brad. As long as he has Brad, he has no interest in Robinson. If Brad should put up Lerner plates and move to Villa, then there is a reason for him to want Robinson.

As far as I recall, that's what nicko's said since this started.

I don't think many people here actively want Brad to go, so we're hoping that nicko's wrong. But gloating about it seems rather... silly

Edit: rather, the language in the sentence suggests that that is the case. Also, I got the underlining wrong first time :)

Ok - looking behind Paul Ince's comments :-

1. As far as I am concerned

So if Brad wants to go for a big pay day, would he stand in his way ?

2. I do not want to sell Brad, so why should I want Paul Robinson?

Perfectly true - but would change if Brad asks for a move !

For me what is most significant at the moment :-

Brad has kept his current thoughts to himself and most unusually so has Bentley. Could it be that the club have accepted they will leave, but told them to keep quiet until all is sorted to Rovers benefit ? I find Bentley's current silence deafing - we couldn't keep him out of the press saying how he wanted to move on a few weeks ago - and now all is quiet.

Contrast this with Santa - looking forward to the new season with Rovers.

Before you berate our friend Nicko - would you really expect Ince to come out and say "Oh yes, we were going to sell Bentley to Spuds, Friedal to Villa and buy Robinson - but it all fell through cause we didn't want to pay £4m for Robinson" ? Not saying that happened, but things do change very quickly in football and I am sure there is far more going on behind closed doors than actually reaches the average fan in the street.

So far we have a manager either :-

1. Genuinely trying to hold into his top stars

or

2. Resigned to losing them - but ensuring we get the best possible deal

Either has to be good for Rovers - especially in these days of increased player power.

A Villa fan who was born in Birmingham and lived their for many, many years. Now live in the NW in Manchester, yes. Season ticket holder at Villa. Is that a problem? Who are you sir - your standard journo who has led many people to believe that their hero (Brad) was leaving the football club?

I haven't seen the interview yet, did he say that about Bentley? - Then obviously he would. Of course Bentley is going. He can't/won't stay after what he said, and I'm surprised Rovers fans still want to see him at the club. He's basically told you, you're not good enough, just like Barry did for us. Let him go. Get a good deal.

I was talking more about Friedel and Robbo - your sources are misinformed - the manager just declared Friedel one of the best goalkeepers in the Prem, no? Why would he then go and sell him? Come on.

Er the local paper in Blackburn, I believe also have said that Rovers are awhere of interest in Brad Friedel from other clubs. Therefore it is not just Nicko. Both Brad Friedel and Ince do not want Brad Friedel to go -but an offer has come in that is hard for any party to ignore. Therefore has to be considered. This has been said on a number of occasions on this board. I suppose a managers first job is to do what is best for the club - not any particular player - agents look after players - managers expect the palyer to perform to the best of their ability and do as they are told by the club.

Thats OK then Bucky. When you put it like that it makes perfect sense. That MoN must be an absolutely bloody useless manager eh?

Having just bought Guzan, this is a smart deal for MON. For 4 million, he gets 2 class keepers, one for now and one for 2 years from now. In the meantime, Brad the Younger, gets to learn from Brad the Elder.

We don't have someone for 2 years from now, so it makes sense for us to sell while Robinson is available at below market value.

I apologise, but he was a tad bit rude to myself.

Am I not allowed to question his judgement? Your manager has just said things that put Nicko's claims into doubt. I'm simply asking if his sources could be mistaken. We all make mistakes. Happens everyday.

As for the Bentley thing - seems we have put in a bid some time ago, it got rejected. By declaring it, he's letting other interested parties know that Villa have made a bid. I still believe he will end up at Spurs, but not as part of a Robbo deal.

I do not believe he was rude but maybe you took it as though it was - it happens. You have come onto a Blackburn Rovers supporters forum and although welcome -you were not invited to do so - and as this is a Rovers forum you will always encounter posts - posters - that you will find offensive because of your own natural baias to your own club -town etc. As would we if we went onto say a villa forum and read what others were saying about Rovers - bully boys etc.

I am not in the media in anyway -therefore those who work in that area I listen to the imformation they publish. sometimes it is correct - sometime not. Life chanegs for all of us when we least expect it- therefore so do stories. How many times have we all made plans to do this and that and instead something else comes up and everything changes? Is football - footballers -clubs any different - I suggest not.

Nicko gives us information he has heard and choses to share - we may not like it - agree with it - but at the end of the day he is doing his job and often has to with hold things because of his job - after all he is earning a living as a sports writer.. To you and all on this forum we must understand that he cannot always go into detail on information received. He has a duty to those who employ him - a duty to those he receives imfo from and has still chosen to come on to this site and do what he does.

Of course you can question him - as well as anybody else - but at least do so in a respectfull manner. - that does not just appy to you but to all of us on this forum. Failure to do so takes away the fun and the interest of coming onto this forum in thie first place.

I think part of the story was that Brad would exonerate Ince for him leaving - maybe this bit is being done first.
