Nicko - could you add Spurs waiting for a big enough bid from from Man Utd for Berbatov in that chain or even Liverpool to bid for Keane??

Someone's got to start it moving!

It's a fair point although it's not central.

The Berbatov thing is alive, so Levy will have that on his plate. The Keane thing is also alive, which makes it quite a busy time for him.

Spurs are a nightmare to deal with at the best of times. This just makes it worse.

Mind you Rovers are tough negotiators and can put stupid fees on people also. Ask Jason Roberts...

You are just going to have to wait and let them thrash it out.

The only 'deadline' is that Villa want Brad for the weekend...it might get things going. But O'Neill is another one who jerks around.

So, given all that, is it eminently possible that none of Friedel, Robinson, Bentley, Keane, Uncle Tom Cobbley will move?

Ince's comments seem like he's covering his backside just in case it all collapses.

I have listened to the manager's comments and would say that he HAS to take the lines he has taken.

You can't say 'Look, Brad is going, but we want to keep it quiet while we get his replacement in...and those clowns at Tottenham are hard to deal with.'

Even if you would like to...

No but he could say "no comment" or "I don't want to talk about transfers right now" (see how Raffa dealt with similar questions about Barry when pressed in a post match interview) and I certainly wouldn't be slating Robinson. OK so he didn't directly slag him off but he all but said Robinson isn't as good as Friedel.

Again I'm not saying you're wrong because I'm not close enough to know the absolute truth but if you are right then I consider Ince comments at best a lie and at worst a PR disaster.

Moving Brad Friedel out of this club was always going to be very difficult to do, unless he retired.

That said, the way we've gone about it has been nothing short of disasterous.

Where did he criticise Robinson?

Where did he (Please dont use that word again) Robinson?

He said he doesn't want him which implies he doesn't rate him, afterall you wouldn't say "why do we need Zidane when we've got Tim Sherwood"....Ok bad example but you wouldn't say "Why do I want Gerrard when I have Mokoena" because the answer's obvious.

As I said that was only a small point, my main focus is with

"I want to keep Brad. I do not want to sell Brad" which directly contradicts what you said about all parties being happy with the Friedel deal.

The Aston Villa 'bid' is the old inquiry at around £10 million. Apart from the fact that it is an insult I don't think it even stands up any more as Bentley's 'people' have told Villa they don't want to go.

Hi villa fan here.

Just to let you know that randy lerners right hand man general krulak posts on alot of villa forums and let slip that our bid was alot more than the £10 million being reported in the press.

The quotes from ince have made me both excited and dissapointed, i'm excited as i thought bentley was signing for spurs and i'm glad that now it looks like we have a chance but i'm dissapointed because i would have loved to have signed brad friedel.

As rovers fans who would you guys prefer bentley went to?

the way we've gone about it? what on earth are you talking about? Our club haven't instigated this - they have just had to deal with the fall out.

Ince has come out and says he wants to keep Brad. Which I believe. If, however, Brad has decided he wants to go for one last huge payday, then so be it - it's hardly our clubs fault.

We live in times of player power - pure and simple.

Rovers have still to seal a deal with Villa for Brad...do you want him to drop the price by saying he is prepared to let him go?

It's called 'negotiations.'

It would be a bitter pill to swallow if Bents goes to either Spurs or Villa.

Both teams are in direct compeition with us. Same goes for Brad and the City/Villa situation.

You do not sell your best players to your rivals. If we are serious about progessing we can not sell to these clubs.

Would United sell Ronaldo and Ferdinand to any of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal?

I have no problem with players going on to play for the top four, but sideways moves make us weaker twice over; we get weaker and our competition gets stronger.

Which brings me back to the question that NO-ONE has answered.

Do you honestly believe that Ince coming in and Brad potentially leaving within 3 weeks is pure coincidence? Particularly when there has been reports of unrest between the two?

Brad could have gone for several huge pay days over the years, and chose not to. Again, everyone seems to want to ignore this fact. Why do you think Villa suddenly believe they have a chance at signing him? The were looking for a keeper last Summer. Why didn't they go for Brad then? If Brad had a big payday in the back of his mind, why sign a new deal in January?

Does anyone honestly believe that, if Mark Hughes was still here, we'd even be discussing Brad leaving? Of course we bloody wouldn't.
