actually oddly enough after last night's game I'm less worried than I was before. Think it always feel better when matches start happening and you see your players back on the pitch.

Closer to a "hands off" warning if you ask me, negiotiating would be "We don't want to lose Brad and won't sell unless the price is right".

No. If you say that and negotiations break down then the club looks bad, Ince looks bad, Villa look bad and so on. By saying that you have no interest in selling Villa will have to match your offer and if things break down Ince and Rovers can simply turn around to us and say "we never wanted to sell, it was just Villa being silly".

Where are those reports?? Link?!

There was speculation at the start of this saga about it, I'm sure you'll be able to find the posts if you try hard enough.

Also, the Friedel story from Sunday -

Brad Heir Day, Mart

..........but I understand that the former United States star will clear Ince of any accusations he wants rid of him.

No smoke without fire, right?

Obviously Rovers are at the centre of the merry-go-round and hold all the cards already being in posession of the players who everbody wants and not having a ticking clock.

I currently fully expect us to come out of this either with our squad intact or significantly stronger.

My number one preference answering that Villa fan is for Gareth Barry to stay put.

...and if friedel gets sold before the weekend Ince won't look silly???? As I said "no comment" or "I don't talk about transfers" would have done but Ince has made a point of saying how he doesn't want to sell Brad so if he then goes against that he looks stupid as do we.

IMO, either niko or Ince is gonna have egg on their face but you lot can keep pretending that Ince's comments were abiguous or "keeping the door" open but they seems pretty direct and to the point to me...

I'm assuming if Brad goes on the Germany tour (they set off on Wednesday?) its looking unlikely he is going anywhere, because Villa want a keeper before their intertoto matches?

On the Ince comments of course its nice to see Ince coming out with comments like that, but you have to take them with a pinch of salt. There has been countless comments by managers before saying that a player isn't going but a week later they end up going. If Ince had come out and said he was looking to sell or was after a specific player its going to have a major impact on price either in a negative or positive way.

Which brings me back to the question that NO-ONE has answered.

Do you honestly believe that Ince coming in and Brad potentially leaving within 3 weeks is pure coincidence? Particularly when there has been reports of unrest between the two?

Brad could have gone for several huge pay days over the years, and chose not to. Again, everyone seems to want to ignore this fact. Why do you think Villa suddenly believe they have a chance at signing him? The were looking for a keeper last Summer. Why didn't they go for Brad then? If Brad had a big payday in the back of his mind, why sign a new deal in January?

Does anyone honestly believe that, if Mark Hughes was still here, we'd even be discussing Brad leaving? Of course we bloody wouldn't.

I hadn't heard of unrest between the two. Is that actually confirmed, or my mates, dogs, girlfriends uncle said so?

I doubt that Brad not being available for the intertoto cup will make any difference whatsoever, to whether Villa want him.

Is the Mexican right back anymore possible signing? Davis seems to be forgotten. SWP would be good cover for DB. I´m not sure if Saviola rumour (Teamtalk earlier this summer) was never real but could work with Roque. There must be a few better keepers than Robinson. Too bad Jaaskelainen made a new contract..

Just to let you know that randy lerners right hand man general krulak posts on alot of villa forums and let slip that our bid was alot more than the £10 million being reported in the press.

As rovers fans who would you guys prefer bentley went to?

We know it was posted on here about a week back. That is the only bid at this point. The stance is still £17m or forget it and i doubt you'll pay that.

I would prefer him to go to a top 4 team. That way he isn't a problem for us in the coming years. Liverpool would be the only shout but they don't have the cash.

Too bad Jaaskelainen made a new contract..

No way, he is drama queen. Makes a simple save look very difficult, just like Antti Niemi.

Have you seen Stuart Taylor play recently?

I think it is an important game for them - and they would like Brad in by then.

It's not a deal-breaker if they don't, but O'Neill would want to have his target playing in the game - and the return.

We're in danger of letting all this speculation spiral out of control.

For the past 3 seasons, we've heard the same lines spoken by both Hughes and John Williams - and that is - as a club, we try incredibly hard during the close season to keep hold of all our best players. We don't have to sell, but sometimes, if the manager thinks he can use a situation to his advantage, then he may go ahead.

I expect Bentley will go, because the £17 million will allow the manager to mould the team in the way he wants to. I expect friedal will stay, although the lure of doubling your wages will be immense. And I expect Santa Cruz to stay!

but one thing is for certain - JW listens to the fans. He's in touch with his 'consumers' and knows there's a balance t keep.

All we can do, is keep the faith and trust in the guy who has delivered us great success competing with the 'big' clubs over the last 8 years.

He said he doesn't want him which implies he doesn't rate him, afterall you wouldn't say "why do we need Zidane when we've got Tim Sherwood"....Ok bad example but you wouldn't say "Why do I want Gerrard when I have Mokoena" because the answer's obvious.

As I said that was only a small point, my main focus is with

"I want to keep Brad. I do not want to sell Brad" which directly contradicts what you said about all parties being happy with the Friedel deal.

Yup, The Axe is way better ;):rover:

nicko, will fridel and bentely travel with rovers squad to germany on wednesday

I don't know yet.

I do recall the Damien Duff interlude when he went through customs and came out again after Chelsea reached the magic figure.

Who broke that story again?

No, rather obviously it's not confirmed. If it was confirmed we wouldn't have spent the last 60 pages on this thread debating whether or not its true, which is basically what it all comes down to.

Whether its unrest, Ince doesn't fancy him, Ince thinks he should replace him sooner rather than later, whatever - I just find it hard to believe this is purely Brad's choice. It's just too convenient.

Going through customs and sitting in the departure lounge is not the same as being on the plane when it gets into the air. On the same token; flying back from Germany is a little easier than coming back from Washington D.C.
