[Archived] Nickos (newer) Thread

As, if you bothered to check back, it came up AFTER the deadline for articles- Nicko said this- I presume it will- unless further facts arise today.

Did this really only come to light after deadline or did Nicko not print it for some other reason (dunno what- sorry a bit of another conspiracy theory). It just seems unlikely that it only came to light yesterday evening after the course on Wednesday especially as it seems Nicko found out from someone who arranged for him to be there (he mentioned earlier that Ince gave no reason to them).

i very much doubt that anyone involved would have wanted that news out.

The Welsh FA have been boyed out by Ince and If it got back to rovers (and lets all hope it has) Ince would have to answer some serious questions about it, which would possible scupper his chances of taking over. Also, if rovers did find out, its not in their best interests to have the news out as it is embarrassing for the club that their number 1 target is a lazy lazy boy who has undermined them.

just a thought.

Someone reporting on the official site a story on Horizon Radio this morning saying Ince is staying at KM Dons. Can't see any other sources.

I'm doing some work on the computer at the moment so I'll put the radio station on and have a listen for a bit.

I see in the News of the World they've put that if Ince get's the job, he wants to bring Keith Andrews with him... and that MK Dons want £2million!

MK Dons skipper is Blackburn target

INCE WANTS £2m KEITH

By GRAHAM NICKLESS

PAUL INCE wants to take MK Dons captain Keith Andrews with him to Blackburn.

Rovers look set to appoint the former England star as manager — and he has lined up Andrews to follow him to Ewood Park.

But the Dons will demand £2million for the midfielder.

I hope that isn't true! ...he was rubbish at Hull City and left for MK Dons on a freebie.

Here's what is being said about the 'news' on Hull City forums, so you get a jist of his 'ability'.

No way is he Premier League quality. You have to have at least one outstanding talent be it pace, skill, passing, strength or reading the game but he hasnt. He is only adequate at all of these, is probably a half decent Championship squad player and runs like a girl.

I'll be glad to see another English manager get a decent job though. When was the last time an Englishman got a 'big job'?

Andrews... PL player?! My goldfish has got more strength than that waste of space... he found his level, lower league football and thats where he should stay...

i.e. Nicko, if Ince get's the job, tell him "Don't you dare!"

Also Nicko, please could you tell me if there is any truth in the reports that Hull City are about to rival Cardiff's bid for Kris Boyd?

Thanks.

Yet Laudrup took Getafe, who had finished 9th in the previous two seasons, down to 14th in La Liga and is hailed as some kind of potential messiah.

Nowt as queer as folk.

Nowt so queer as folk who don't see the overall picture.

When Schuster left for Real Madrid, Getafe also lost several players- hence Laudrup having to sign the same number of players SGE had to at City in as little time.

Unlike Citeh who got off to a flyer, Getafe got off to a stinker playing extremely attacking but losing football which got them into relegation trouble by end October. They steadied the ship still playing great football and reached the UEFA QF where their game against Bayern in Madrid was one of the highlights of last year's European football. They played with ten men for 111 minutes and without their injured leading scorer for 100 minutes and were beating Bayern 3-1 with only four minutes of extra time left when the keeper dropped a catch at Luca Toni's feet.

How come everyone who mentions the Guv'Nor to me says it with a cheeky grin. Also, how come everyone I speak to, seems to think he is an obnoxious t@at.

Same sniggering but with a different slant when Steve Maclaren was rumoured to be close to being offered the job. The last thing that any supporter of BRFC needs is for our opponents and neighbours to be given a heaven sent opportunity to take the p1ss. The emotion we should be cultivating is envy not ridicule.

Nicko, more and more stories saying that Roque is a target for L'Arsenal, any truth you think? Are they coming from his agent? I seem to remember you saying he was only their 2nd choice, who's the first (other than Arshavin)?

What is your gut feeling re the delay? a change of heart from us? (hopefully)

It may shock you to know that some things only come out quite a bit after they happened...

When I heard it was too late for me to get it in the Sunday People.

I could have sat on the story after that and got it out on Monday. However it could have been overtaken by events and the significance of it might have been lost on some people at newspapers.

I felt it was more important to pass on the info here. It seems to have caused a stir. It should.

That says to me that MK Dons may want shut of him! otherwise they would give permission in the same way as other clubs do.

is there any point in considring the notion that the reason for ince's non-attendance at the course in wales is because rovers had already rejected him as a candidate, for whatever reason?

Thank Goodness we have avoided the 'bullet' that was Big Sam. Though successful positionally his brand of football at Bolton was awful to watch and they always seemed to be 2/3 players away from collapse, as Lil' Sam found out.

I always remember my Grandad, who is a steward, telling me about the time in 1997-ish we were playing Bolton and leading at half time. My Grandad was by the tunnel at half time and Big Sam came out for a fag. My Grandad directed him to a little room people used to avoid the JW stand ban and Big Sam, a premiership manager, asked him, a steward, how he thought Bolton had done in the first half!!!

They got the green light from the Premier League at 5.30pm on Friday

Yes I read that. But that surely is just the official line of the organisation only if there are no protests.

And I seem to remember Nicko saying MKFranchise were looking for a new manager. Surely this was also due to Leicester circling above?

Ince has been in management two years including a time between Macclesfield and MK Dons and made no attempt to get even the most basic of qualifications.

Compares absolutely dreadfully to the qualifications held, the driven attitude and determination to succeed of Mark Hughes's management team.

Sore head, swollen bowels and a stonking hang over from the night before.

I got up and logged on to catch up with everything thats happened overnight and what I have read is quite sobering.

If he failed to attend the course (Ince) then he is a let down unless he has a more than valid excuse.

If MKD and WinklyWinckleman have said we cant speak but we have to take him and offer him the job it sounds like an ultimatum.

I would like Bilic or Advocaat to take the job over anyone else.

All the transfer speculation in the papers is crap.

The curry I had last night was simply bloody fantastic although what I washed it down with leaves a lot to be desired

Winkelman has his tactics ready made for him.

Ince has delivered the goods for MKD and Winkelman successfully (with some help from Rovers' interest) resisted Leicester- he said no and Mandaric went away.

Rovers clearly need an explanation about the FAW no-show hence asking to talk and Winkelman has shut the door. If Rovers don't take Ince, you can be sure he isn't going to get another EPL dispensation as his promises in this regard are seen to be worthless. Winkelman has a more than decent chance of keeping Ince for one and perhaps two more seasons by which time they could be up another level.
