PAFELL Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Whether we like it or not, we all have to get behind the team & Ince now for the new season, remember it could have been far worse WWTB or BFS. Right subject of the week now, Bentley, staying or going? I agree with your post with regards to the manager and the supporting of the team. I suggest all Rovers fans should ok lets see what Ince can do. It was interesting the Friedel gave his support for Ince last week, who I believe is level headed. Therefore if he can I suggest we should also. Oh no it will be transfer speculation now.

Gamst Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I posted about it here; http://www.brfcs.co.uk/mb/index.php?showto...mp;#entry628362 this morning. He used to play for Hull City and was crap. left on a freebie. (see link for a couple of opinions of him from other Hull City fans). As a former st holder at the KC, I can confirm that Andrews is very average. He is certainly not good enough for the prem. He didnt stand out in a very poor city side.
brfcshabba Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 The Keith Andrews link is a case of the media putting two and two together in the same manner for Hughes coming back for Samba, Nelsen, Bentley and Santa Cruz
Blue n White Rover Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 As a former st holder at the KC, I can confirm that Andrews is very average. He is certainly not good enough for the prem. He didnt stand out in a very poor city side. I remember when Sparky left he was apparently going to take RSC, Bentley, Reid, Warnock and Samba with him. Its just a load of rubbish, whenever a manager is appointed t a new club he is always linked with his former players but rarely happens. Mourinho's already linked with Drogba and Lampard. Scolari linked with Deco, its just the usaul sh*t that comes out of papers when a new manager is appointed!

A good comment I've read regarding this is; "People often improve a lot when moving up the leagues, not many do it when dropping down."
PAFELL Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I wonder if by appointing Ince, JW and the board thought this might halt the takeover talks? How? We don't know anything about the takeover talks as yet - unless Nicko has posted something on here that I have missed.
greggyk Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 No doubt some hard hitting opinions from Gally I was right...apparently the fans have been really excited about the arrival of Ince????
roverfanuk Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Just wanted to say 4 things with regard to the Ince appointment really: 1- Give Ince a chance, allot of us were upset when little old Mark Hughes was appointed, and he suprised us all... 2- Brad has thrown his support in for Ince, if Brad shows his support we should too 3- It was mentioned i think yesterday, that Ince had contacted Roque to make sure he knew he would be in his plans, and that he was a very important member of the squad. Is this true Nicko? 4- Last but not least, is anyone else curious about Bentley's reaction to this appointment. I really hope Bentley chooses his time to hand in his transfer request when Ince is in a really bad mood about his missis's cooking or something! Also, Nicko, didnt you say their was a snippet of information with regard to the takeover? I purchased the Sunday People this morning, and couldn't find anything at all!
Blue n White Rover Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Ince Not Afraid To dish out the hairdryer
Gamst Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Where abouts did you used to sit? A good comment I've read regarding this is; I sat in the west stand im afraid. As I dont live locally anymore I only get to a few games a season, but when I get to matches I sit in the south stand now. South stand at Boothferry too.
ThatRabbitsDynamite Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 How? We don't know anything about the takeover talks as yet - unless Nicko has posted something on here that I have missed. This is true, we don't know anything about a takeover. I was really just throwing out mischievous speculation that the person(s) possibly in a takeover would sour on the appointment and therefore - NO Takeover.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Thoroughly underwhelmed with this appointment, Ray Mathias ? We'd be better of with Johnny Mathis. If the members of his board are anything to go by a deeply unpopular choice- our first few games will be crucial now.
Rovermatt Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Only Rovers could aim so small-time. This has disaster stamped all over it. A long season beckons.
1864roverite Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I dont really know what to think about this appointment. Part of me thinks it will be a good thing part of me thinks it is doom and gloom for a season. He will definately have the will to win going for him and will instill this even more into the squad. His ego will be bigger than any Rovers player ego, I am certain of that. As a player, I despised Hughes as he always scored against us but as a Rovers player and then manager I fully supported him. With Ince, I hated him as much as I hate fergie and burnley especially when he scored that goal in the 99th minute at mould t to equalise against us. I will get behind the new management team and give them my full support. After all, we are ROVERS
Roversider Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Please could we at least, have a decent scout to help ince with who he wants to sign. Don't we still have the same scouting structure that was available to Hughes?
John Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I am really keen on knowing on who his back room staff will be....
modes98 Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I am really keen on knowing on who his back room staff will be.... Ditto. Hoping for some steady hands to guide him through.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 The pre-season tournament has probably worked out to be perfect timing, gives Ince a chance to suss out every player and start running things his way in time for the start of the season.
RovertheHill Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Anyone else reckon there will be no shades of grey with this appointment - he'll either be very good like Hughes or absolutely dreadful. I hope it's the former
SamTheShrew Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 im intrigued to know where the board see us finishing next season, or where they expect us 2
vintageadidas Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Give him a chance. I and many were not that thrilled with the appointment of MH 4 years ago. But as stated, his backroom staff is key as Bowen et al certainly helped MH achieve what he did at BRFC.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 im intrigued to know where the board see us finishing next season, or where they expect us 2 It will be interesting to hear what they think. For me we are looking to stabilise the team, particularly if we end up losing a few key players. I would expect us to not be anywhere near Uefa Cup qualification but also not get involved in the relegation fight. So around mid table, 12th-15th probably.
