we are linked with an ex liverpool player though in kewell, wudnt be a bad free transfer thts if can get on to the pitch ;)

We're not in the Champions League, so he won't be making his one appearance for the final this season. He's another Quinton Fortune or Kieron Richardson. I'd avoid.

If he signs Kewell that is one big X against Ince already in my opinion and shows what some poeple have feared, the fact he is looking at players who were good 5 years ago.

Has Hughes taken all our scouts, pro zone team ...... etc

I heard that Brockhall is dead he has taken that many people.

Might well be the case with Incy. Hopefully he can also sign some good div. 4 players...

Then we'll build a new team up. Hopefully one that will improve the academy.

The Academy is under the control of Bobby Downes. The first team manager has no power in that direction as it was set up almost as a separate body that just passes players on the the Reserves. The idea was to maintain continuity so that when a manager left the youth set remained unchanged. From my observations its the Reserve Team manager who works closely with Downes.

FFS! He's not even been in the seat for 24 hours, and people are having a go at his managerial record. Where the eff was Martin O'Neill when he started managing? Or Clough? Or Ferguson? They didn't just walk into their biggest jobs by giving the interviewers a a glimpse of what could be through a magic window if they got the job. I guess Villa should expect to sign a striker from Wycombe this season.

Ince is a gamble, but would you rather have a safe option like BFS or McClaren who have failed in the Premiership and England? Or let's bring back Hoddle or Souness to the Premiership? They have top level experience?

Hope Ince is watching the EURO's and having a closer look at Zhirkov, Pavlyuchenko and Arshavin. I know I'm dreaming... :) Good luck to Ince, any idea how long it will take before his backroom staff is announced and in place?

While fantastic in the last couple of weeks, Russian players rarely travel well. I wouldn't bother.

I think Kewell is risk worth taking. He still got ability as he showed by ripping our right side apart last season. As there is no transfer fee, even with a decent salary, the total cost is not that great vs the potential return. We need some competition for the left side, and as he started out as a left back he might provide some cover for Warnock as well now that Berner has left.

Yeah I know about the injury problems and attitude, still these are the risks a club like Rovers should take to improve. Santa Cruz came with a similar background to Kewell (probably a worse injury record). Rather such a risk than spending 5 mill on a Michael Chopra.

Well having slept on it I think there are two main issues. Firstly, the coaching team that Ince brings in. Maybe this is why the press conference is delayed whilst he lines up an impressive team and we are all suitably impressed. My main concern, however, is incoming transfers. Whilst PI has been focused on the 4th division, he is hardly going to have been scouring European leagues for latent talent like Hughes did. Does he even know which areas of the team need strenthening?

The saving grace is, of course, that JW and the board would surely have exhausted this line of questioning in interviews and been convinced, wouldn't they?

I would have thought JW and the club would still be receiving information on potential players from scouts as well as agents. The board, the scouts the trainers - everybody involved in the running of the club - are still in place. All Hughes has taken are three members of the management team. The people who find players are still out there, doing the jobs they are paid for. Once Ince has accepted the job (which he has) his first port of call today and for the rest of this week will be to sit down with the club and talk about were we need to go, what needs strengthening and who could be potential targets.

don't forget, the scouts and JW etc will have had various conversations with Hughes about the team and what needs improving, so the knowledge is still there. It's down to Ince to take on board what he is told and make up his own mind about the squad and potential signings.

Don't think that just because Hughes has left, the club is bereft of anybody who knows anything about the squad.

Exciting times ahead as far as I'm concerned!!

Lets support him and get behind him 100%. People were questioning hughes ability when he took over as he had only managed Wales and he did well for us.

Give him time, its his first season, I have every faith in John Williams that he has done the right thing.

All those people that didnt want allerdyce, are now not happy that we have ince.

Ince has had a few weeks to get his head round who he might bring in were he to be offered the job after Mark Hughes went. Even if he's only been looking for lower league players for himself, he's hardly going to be unaware of what's out there. If we've got ideas and there are plenty on here who have, then so will he have. This idea that he's coming in cold is wrong. He's talked to the chairman and will have a pretty good idea of what he can and can't afford and presumably will have had to share some of his thoughts with the chairman, so that JW will have an idea of who Ince might like to target. I think we all need to realise that this is not a spur of the moment appointment. We have spent time talking to the guy, and nowadays you don't need to do it all face to face. Videoconferencing etc is used widely in business and will be at Rovers. I still haven't got used to the fact that Ince is going to be our manager, but it's certainly going to be more interesting than it would have been under the other probable candidates. Don't expect all to go smoothly but listened to his former chairman talking about him this morning and he couldn't praise him enough. Oh, and attendances apparently went up at MK dons last season, because people liked the style of football.

The time I went there, attendances were good because they let all the local schools in free.

I have to say that the 'first black British manager to manage in the premiership' tag does seem a bit pointless, especially in this day and age.

What next - first black manager to win a game at Old Trafford , first black british manager to be sent to the stands.

Does any of it really make a blind bit of difference ??

The real story should be that it's the first time a Premiership club has plucked a manager from the botom division and given him a chance.

The West Ham away game early in the season should be interesting. I bet that now become our first 'sky' game

Indeed.

To paraphrase iamarover from last week, (during our MB hero's long dark night of the soul - great to see you back Alan):

"...a sending off, a last minute winner, a V sign from Ince in the direction of the Chicken Run, followed by a pitch invasion'.

Sorry can't find actual quote, wish I could.

Ince standing in front of he Chicken Run screaming 'I'm the feckin daddy (or Guv'nah), nah!' would really round things off nicely.

Let the good times commence!

I think many of us who didn't want Allardyce wanted Laudrup. We didn't get him, time to move on, good luck.......Guv'nor
