nicko Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 ...and yet nothing announced down at McDingle Farm. I told you there'd be dodgy signings from foreign shores too. A Peruvian with no hope of a work permit. 4 or 5 in this week? In my brother's dreams. Come on Incey, show them how it's done. McDonald done...Penny done subject to work permit which he will get...I make that three. Or should that be 'three more'...

Hughesy Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Nicko - you get any clues from the conference as to what positions we are looking at?
Mr Creosote Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 McDonald done...Penny done subject to work permit which he will get...I make that three. Or should that be 'three more'... You see Nicko has posted, you eagerly log on ..........only to find he's on about The Yahoos! Stick to proper clubs please Mr Nixon. If The Clampetts want an update you can always fix a piece of parchment to a pigeon's leg.
roverfanuk Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 It's good that we found out why he didnt go to that course in Wales... That was my primary worry.
nicko Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 It's good that we found out why he didnt go to that course in Wales... That was my primary worry. That was the only part of the press conference that did NOT impress.
Blue n White Rover Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 He confirmed Ray Mathias was going to come with him, hope he does bring in an experienced first team coash. Sparky had a very good backroom staff and that did help him a lot behind the scenes and hopefully Incey will have the same amount of quality, if not better. Very excited about this appointment and JW looked very confident!
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I see Kightly has signed a new deal with Wolves. Wasn't he being touted as a possible Bentley replacement a while back?
briansol Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Quotes from Gamst regarding Ince as new manager: (from Norwegian media) "I know him just as a player, and I don't know how he is as a coach or manager. But everything new is exiting and I will need to keep an open mind." He doesn't think the manager situation will affect his current contract negotations. "I'm talking to Blackburn, so we'll see. Blackburn has taken good care of me," says Gamst

modes98 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Indeed he was. If Bentley departs then we must have a very good player lined up to replace him or we'll struggle to create chances again. Especially with MGP as bad as he is.
Hannah Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 That was the only part of the press conference that did NOT impress. What do you mean by that? Was he lying???
Fife Rover Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 If you had owt between your ears you'd say 'no chance he's worth 20m'. Then youd like as not end up with something in between. Quite a nice bonus for not snapping hands off I suggest cn b. Now we all know never to buy a used car from you Theno.
PAFELL Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Pardon me for having the first good night's sleep in a month... TRANSFER TARGETS - I think there is something in the Keith Andrews thing, but I would imagine the new manager will not want him to be his FIRST signing to avoid the sneers and sniggers. If he likes him, fair enough, he knows him well enough. I see the Sporting Lisbon player Vujkevic [spelling?] is being linked but that is probably a tease to get a rival club interested - and one not too far away. Olifinyaya [spelling?] has asked out at Wolves and the same may apply to him. COACHING BADGES - I believe the Ian Wright column in the Sun today is one of the most loathesome things I have ever read. GOLFING IN PORTUGAL - I checked that and was told it is incorrect, still no explanation for the no-show at the coaching course though. BURNLEY - Second signing - as promised - made. The big lad Kevin McDonald from Dundee, a good un and a tall one which is rare for the past few generations of Scots who seem to have suffered in their growth spurts since Maggie snatched the milk. BENTLEY - Villa like him, but not at £15 million and will probably take Milner. Liverpool like him at £12 million and will probably try swaps. FINNAN - For our Fulham chum...can't afford the fee or the wages. I think the fact that Ince mentioned in the press conference that he has to do the English qualification and not the Welsh one, may explain why the no show in wales - showing up would have been pointless. Though it is good to see that Rovers have put into Ince's contract that Ince must do the badges.
Fife Rover Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 BENTLEY OUT His replacement sure looks promising Whilst others are fiddling with the silly big name transfers Gee wizz, if we get him we will have to call him George.

He was meant to be at the WeLsh course - apparenty set up for him by Ian Rush - on Wednesday and did not show. At that time Ince and Rovers did not know about any 'you have to work with the English FA ruling' - that is tosh. Alan Shearer did his with Scotland's FA, Jose Mourinho did his with Scotland's FA, I think Phil Scolari even did his with Scotland's FA. There is NO rule that you have to do it with England's FA.

Thanks, I therefore stand corrected. Are you sure the rules have not changed though? If you had to chose between Roy Evans and Phil Thompson in Paul Ince's backroom staff, who would you chose and why.

Maybe it was part of his contract and the input from the FA that he did it in England ???? just a thought
nicko Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 Maybe it was part of his contract and the input from the FA that he did it in England ???? just a thought Paul Ince didn't have a contract last Wednesday...I think it is a cover-up but I will let it pass. The Premier League bend and break their own rules all of the time. Rovers have done a bit of that too. But the fact it is in the manager's contract is reassuring. Move on...
bob fleming Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 If you had to chose between Roy Evans and Phil Thompson in Paul Ince's backroom staff, who would you chose and why. Good question. nicko - in your opinion who would win in a fight between a goose and a swan?
nicko Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 Good question. nicko - in your opinion who would win in a fight between a goose and a swan? I think here the question is 'who would win in a battle of dead ducks?'
Wolverine Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Don't be stupid Bob. The swan would win it by a neck. Now, who would win in a swan and a zebra? Also, will Ince be ringing the players now?
Shevchenko Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 BENTLEY OUT His replacement sure looks promising Whilst others are fiddling with the silly big name transfers Olofinjana is a very solid football player and would be a good addition to our midfield corps. He wouldn't be a replacement for Bentley though, but I'd be very happy with him joining.
b12_simon Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I see Kightly has signed a new deal with Wolves. Wasn't he being touted as a possible Bentley replacement a while back? That doesn't necessarily mean he's unavailable, just that he'll cost more. An example from Wolves: Joleon Lescott signed a new deal just before moving to Everton.
