Johan Elmander. £11 million or so bid. Totally over-priced if you base it on his Euro 2008 performances.

Would make the wonderful Arshavin a snip at a similar price.

Bolton have signed Muamba and want Elmander, sounds like they will be shelling it next season...great!

So the report in tonights MEN linking them to Saha and Baros is wide of the mark?

He needs to be alot better than Euro 2008 to be even half decent. Seems alot of money for a donkey to me.

Like someone said above, he was played on the right side of midfield. He'd make a poor winger, and even worse with the defensive responsebilities he had in the Euros. Far better as a striker. I wouldn't put too much weight on the Russia game; where pretty much everyone in the Swedish team played poorly. He did OK against Spain (And was the reason we beat them in the qualifiers FWIW).

£11m might be a bit much, but he's certainly no donkey.

Plastics? Coming from the person who spat his dummy, threw his toys out of the pram and threatened not to come again i'd suggest that tag is far more appropriate for you. Particularly as you were so quick to have a pop at others when it was a manager of your choice.

The annoying thing is this way you are now trying to set yourself up as some kind of poor persecuted prophet simpy for predicting the coming bad times. No-one has an issue with you expressing dissatisfaction with the appointment. However the fact that whilst have said they will back the man and give him a chance while you are popping up on every thread at least once an hour to let us all know how wise you are and how daft we are is particularly annoying even for you.

It reminds of Vinjay, are you sure that wasn't an alter ego? A possibly decent point, completely lost in a sea of endless snips, jibes and childish put downs. Here's a thought, why dont you come back with another, but please god come up with a better one than that corrie one.

Elmander was played out of position as a winger in the Euro 3008. He is a striker and a class act.

Sorry but if he couldn't oust an aged Larsson and the vastly overrated Ibrahimovic he can't be a class act.

Next season I'll wager he doesn't even get into double figures, he looks slow, ponderous and has a poor first touch. Good workrate though - a la Dickov and Ashley Ward.

Dont know if this has been asked but Nicko said there would be a problem with Ince if we were in Europe as he has no badges. Does that mean if we qualify for europe next season and ince still has no badges we are knackered ?

From his Euro 2008 performances he certainly looked a bit of donkey. Bad first touch, couldn't seem to take it past anyone and clumsy in the tackle also looked a bit on the chubby side. Watch him bang twenty odd goals in next season now. ;)

INCE AND EUROPE - That is a bridge you will hopefuly have to cross. I know that Roeder was not 'officially in charge of Newcastle for a couple of games - I believe Tommy Craig stepped in on the team sheet. It's a farce.

ELMANDER - Expensive no matter what excuses you give to help him out. Saha is a loan target. Baros is not on their wanted list.

Nicko - do you know anything about this Roberto Di Matteo joining Ince talk?

It was on the radio last night that Di Matteo is being lined up as MK Dons manager.

Like I said though, out of position. Most strikers would look out of place playing on the right side of midfield, and not in an advanced role but needing to cover a lot for an attacking full back. Now he wouldn't score 20 goals in the PL I don't think, but donkey is too harsh. Overpriced and overrated; yeah, perhaps. But an overrated player can still be good.

Avram Grant managed in europe all the way to the final without any badges. But i suppose he was managing Chelsea and not little old blackburn.

I his case he was 'doing his badges' - albeit in a phony exercise.

However it is better than not going at all...

How long are the courses?

Ince has to do B, A and Pro in 2 and half years! That sounds like a hefty workload and I hope it won't affect his ability to do all his job roles. By the time he has done them he'll probably be looking to move on anyway or as some think fired.

No tips on his first 2 targets then nicko? Briefly noticed on newsnow that Barton's name was mentioned.

It's a long process, but if you check the lists of managers who have done it recently and are doing it just now they include many bosses from all levels. I can think of one down the road at Burnley who manages to combine the two. Others like Alan Irvine and Stuart McCall are going through it and so many more.

You have to do it, it's that simple.

If not, it would be like going on the road without a driving licence or insurance.

Barton - no chance.

On Barton i am glad, i would not want that poor excuse for a human being near ewood.

I did look into to doing coaching badges only at a lower level but they seem quite involved, with a fair bit of practical time needed, but i suppose coaches get this with their clubs, so it would just be the theory he would need to do.

There are some cracking and suprising names on the pro licence list. I hope Ince has been looking at that and giving a few a ring.
