thenodrog Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Archie Knox! Big Sam and Little Sam's right hand man at Bolton! Oh what a delicious irony! Facebook has a lot to answer for. I guess the only important thing here is that Knox will come cheap and wont need the cost of re-location.

Craigman Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/new...89520-20624003/ This must be your article then Nicko.
Head Rover Heels Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Interesting indeed. Decent record behind him - Would be a good appointment as far as i'm concerned.

Mr Creosote Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Surprised nobody asked me about the Rovers 'senior coach' appointment story... It seems this only appeared in certain editions of the Mirror today. There is more I could say about that editiorial decision at this point, but probably better not. Anyway...Paul Ince wants to recruit Archie Knox as the 'Premier League-experienced coach' he mentioned when he came. Knox is on gardening leave at Bolton where he was assistant and briefly caretaker. He worked with Ince at Man U and is well-respected. I understand that the way is being cleared for this to happen. It is not guaranteed but it is very likely to go through. I suppose he fits the bill although I'm sure he will require a couple of days leave over the 12/13th of next month.
nicko Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 I suppose he fits the bill although I'm sure he will require a couple of days leave over the 12/13th of next month. A solid citizen nonetheless. Well-liked by players and tells it straight. I've got a lot of time for the guy.
hawkiiz Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 i really dont think there is anything in the cudicini news. if the players are still on holiday, why would ince want to bring in a 34 year old 'keeper before he have even seen the others we have? hughes brought in two young ones in the last two season.
bob fleming Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Archie Knox! Big Sam and Little Sam's right hand man at Bolton! Oh what a delicious irony! Facebook has a lot to answer for. You sure about that Theno - THIS suggests he was there with Little Sam only. He's been around a bit hasn't he? Why not I say.
PrideOfLancs Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Can't understand where Cudicini's name came from. Although he is being wasted at Chelsea I can't see us being the ones to give him an escape route. If he was a youngster then maybe, but he's 34 so hardly the ideal candidate to be the replacement for Brad.
thenodrog Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 A solid citizen nonetheless. Well-liked by players and tells it straight. I've got a lot of time for the guy. Anything to do with the fact that he's a sweaty sock.
nicko Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 Anything to do with the fact that he's a sweaty sock. There are plenty of my own tribe that I don't like. But he is one of the good ones.

OK my mistake I guess Bob. I thought Knox was at Bolton in some capacity when Big Sam was ....... but you've just made it 10x worse!
AggyBlue Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 There are plenty of my own tribe that I don't like. But he is one of the good ones. Is he on your 'Good Contacts' list?
nicko Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 Is he on your 'Good Contacts' list? No, but he is always good for a chat. Knows the game, loves the game. When he first came to Manchester I remember he told me - 'It's brilliant here, you can go and see a game every day.' And he meant it. Was very powerful when he worked with Fergie at Aberdeen. He made some of the big decisions on signings despite being number two...I can think of one in particular but that may have to save for the book.
Manchester Blue Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Shame that. Diouff and Paul Ince in his playing years would have very similar personalities. Complete and utter nonsense...you can try and rewrite history all you want but Ince was never vilified up and down the country in the way you are trying to make out.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Archie Knox would be a excellent move in my opinion, certainly a lot better than Robson. Cudicini ? I can't see the point , if he was 4 years younger it would be a good move but he's not.
PAFELL Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Burnley got the all-clear for the Peruvian keeper Penny. Another 'dodgy foreign deal with no chance of a work permit' did someone say. Aye, aye... Is that four in a week - I've lost count. Burnley, Penny pinching off the Peruvians now!!!!!!!
vintageadidas Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 I am loving our young, innovative, creative management team supporting ince.
PAFELL Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Seat beside the manager more like... Would the manager get a word in listenning to your spoken imagination stories
Head Rover Heels Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 We'll certainly be spending quite a bit of money on clocks over the next few years.
nicko Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 Would the manager get a word in listenning to your spoken imagination stories Coyley gets a word in with most people...fear not.
broadsword Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 I might be wrong, but I seem to remember Gazza saying that Archie was just as scary as Walter Smith (Archie was assistant at Rangers, too). You'd have to go some to be as scary as Big Wal.
Roversider Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 I might be wrong, but I seem to remember Gazza saying that Archie was just as scary as Walter Smith (Archie was assistant at Rangers, too). You'd have to go some to be as scary as Big Wal. Gazza has plenty of demons he is afraid of, sadly. Knox would come with a wealth of good experience and I'd discount the bad experience at Bolton. He has dealt with some big name players in the past and would fit the bill as a coach/assistant. Plus he's local, available and recommended by Nicko .
roverfanuk Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Nicko is that the news (Archie) you were talking about yesterday, the news you said we would have to wait for Sunday for...? Have you changed your mind and decided to tell earlier? Or is the news transfer/takeover related still mooted for the sunday wrap?
nicko Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 Nicko is that the news (Archie) you were talking about yesterday, the news you said we would have to wait for Sunday for...? Have you changed your mind and decided to tell earlier? Or is the news transfer/takeover related still mooted for the sunday wrap? No, the Sunday tale is bigger and better.
