Id rather we had too much money and were able to waste it, then not have enough, and ply it on risks that could effectively put the club in financial problems.

My money is however on no takeover for the next year at least, and a slow painfull crawl at that!

Nicko, have those financial documents been released by the trustees to Ronnie yet?

I think your financial problems are all around you at the moment, to be honest.

Chris Ronnie's 'team' got the financial documents in the end...not done much with them yet.

But that could change.

From what I know he is worth considerably more than £150 million if you take into his assets internationally, particularly in Dubai.

the 10 mill we have for transfer will it go away to the trustiees if there will be a takeover Nicko

Very interesting question.

I think those figures are built into future projections - like season ticket sales, TV money, etc.

The budget is tight, but well-run, so you can plan ahead.

The only trouble is that if the Trustees do not put any more money in then eventually you will reach a point where you don't have the money to reaplce the players who are growing old.

I said a year ago that Brad, Tugay and Sav would all have to be replaced sooner rather than later. Brad hangs on in great shape, Tugay plays less and Sav has gone - and NOT been replaced unless you count the freebie Vogel.

Nicko, when did those documents get released.

I can understand Ronnie taking time to go through them...

See that, i think, is good news! :rover:

The Trustees are looking for around £35 million - plus someone to pick up the current debts which are in the region of £15-17 million.

It does seem to be a common complaint amongst potential purchasers that the club is overpriced.

However it's not really a lot when you consider that if we finished 7th every year with last season's wage bill, we'd be in line to make a profit of around 14m p.a. without paying off debts from previous seasons etc.

We probably just haven't found anyone with deep enough pockets yet.

Why, I'm not really sure. We're in the most glamorous League in the world and opportunities to buy in are few and far between.

Precisely. This guy is not a fool. Check his background and he is a high-flier who has done it his way. He is obviously bright and well-educated and I can find no mention of him doing anything dodgy to get his cash.

For what it's worth he was also polite and open on the phone, just a bit shocked that someone knew about what he was trying.

Good luck to the guy.

I believe he eventually got them last weekend. So he knows the figures and now has to decide what to offer.

Perhaps the confirmation that he has a rival - maybe more we don't know of - will get him at it quicker.

So Nicko who would be the best option in your eyes?

Surely we need someone who can back us in the transfer market more than we are being now!

Look at Bolton, We could never spend 16million on 2 players!

At the moment it looks a bit like beggers cant be choosers!

The 'pricing' is being done by the people who own it, the Trustees, who want THEIR slice back.

Some people think it is an insult that their club is only valued at this figure or that...it's not. It is reality and the reality is that the people who want to sell want to take something away with them.

To say that Bentley and Roque are worth - arguably - £30 million does not really affect the 'value' as both would have to be replaced or else you would lose in league placings and possibly Premier League status.

I wouldn't like to say.

The new fella has money, youth, business brains, some contacts and would obviously - let's not avoid this - have an appeal for the Asian community.

Chris Ronnie has some money, is relatively young, vastly experienced in the game and great contacts. I think I know who his allies are, but no-one is saying for sure.

To be honest, EITHER of them would look good to me.

At the fans forum we are continuesly told that there is no real update on the takeover however that could change rapidly in a day, however, once someone is given due dilligence then the club will make a statement, if i'm reading correctly nicko then your saying two people have been already? (ie is that not the same as looking at the figures) so should the club not be making that statement now??

On the Tottenham swap front...

Lennon is £5 million to most clubs, he might get his price hiked up if they thought Rovers were keen and would take him as part of the Bentley swap.

Malbranque IS available.

Bent is stupidly priced. Spurs want their money back...as if. Everton are keen and that one is more likely to happen.

Trying to do deals with them is hard.

There is usually the old blanket statement put out and talk of confidentiality...which is why it's far more fun to find out for yourself.

Scenario 1 - Bentley out, a couple of million, Darren Bent and Lennon (makes us a better team in my eyes)

Scenario 2 - goes to liverpool for £15million, lennon comes in and an another couple?

I just hope we dont blow this cash like we did when we sold Duff.

A class player replaced with about 5 average ones.

Nicko does this mean to the best of your knowledge the Trustees have dropped the requirement that seemed to apply when Dan Williams was interested that a new team invest a certain amount into the playing side?

Not really good news if so?

Is that how you got on to the scoop? The Trustees won't mind a rival bidder being outed ;)

While this guy may be a shrewd self financing buisness man, are his plans for Rovers long term? Will his focus be on footballing success.

The same question obviously applies to Chris Ronnie & Co.

How is it Blackburn could afford 8 million? http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/tm_...-name_page.html

Fulham may struggle to meet the £8m price tag while Rovers boss Paul Ince is set to be handed a big war chest.

A big war chest of 10 million pounds, that should leave us 2 million to spend!

Nicko give whoever wrote that a slap from us please!

Not having a go at you specifically but a lot of people's estimations of Bentley's value seem vastly inflated.

Spurs would probably value Lennon at 7 or 8m if it was part of a swap deal, hence reports of an offer of Lennon + 8m, and they would probably want most of the 16m back they paid for Bent.

Hypothetically, they would probably say that if we took Bent and Lennon they would want Bentley and at least 5m on top.
