dave birch Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I just thought I'd let you know that McGrath's wife, Jane, died this morning (Australian time). Jane had been suffering with breast cancer for the past 11 years. She had a few periods of remission during that time. Some of you may not know that Jane was an English girl who met Glenn when he flew to England early in his career. A charming lady who accepted her illness and fought it without making a huge fuss about it. She and with Glenn set up a foundation to help women who suffer from Breast Cancer.

Ozz Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Indeed, BBC Story. Very sad, sympathies to the Mcgrath family.
ABBEY Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 cant be doing with him as a big headed pillock....but heart goes out to him as nooone deserves anything like it.
Flopsy Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 no Abbey, he was a single minded cricketer who was a devil on the pitch and nothing but a gent off it from what I've heard.
Eddie Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Yep, people only disliked him because he was Australian. Had he been English we would have all loved him (we would have won a lot more often as well). Couldn't stand him on the pitch, but he always seemed nice off of it and you had to respect his ability. Sad news.
ABBEY Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Yep, people only disliked him because he was Australian. Had he been English we would have all loved him you dont say, sherlock.
Flopsy Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 my mate was working in A&E when he turned up after treading on the ball at Edgbaston, there's no truth in the rumour that the consultant made sure his ankle was properly sprained by the time they finished with him
Eddie Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 you dont say, sherlock. There are plenty of people, even on the England team, that I don't like ("KP" being a perfect example). Some people are just d*cks.
AussieinUk Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Never saw this thread. Very sad to hear about Jane passing. My thoughts are with Glenn and his children.
Bazzanotsogreat Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Very sad affair, Mcgrath's children cant be very old & are without a mum. Mcgrath for me is the greatest bowler (of his type) we have ever seen. As for his on-field antics they were amusing rather annoying. Always seems like a realy nice guy in interviews.
