Slightly concerned that Ince has spent £3.5m on a new keeper and yet we still have Friedel. Why didn't he wait until Friedel had left before signing Robinson? We're now in the ridiculous position of having to pay the wages of both of them.

If I may, can I blame Mathias? :angry2:

If we're bottom of the league after ten games, by all means complain then, and I may well be at the front of the queue but it's ridiculous to carry on like this before a ball's kicked.

By the same token I hope the anti Incers will be big enough to hold their hands up if he's a huge success.

Of course, we should not forget the amount of time in 3 of Saint Mark Hughes' 4 seasons that we spent lurking in and around the bottom 3, far more than we did in 6/7/8th place. Will Ince be cut the same slack? I think not

Mathias=Saunders?

I blame the power companies, George Sorros and Barak Obama.

I hardly think being saddled from the start and out of the transfer window with a relegation level squad who were worth little individually to buy and sell with could ever see us anywhere else but lurking around the bottom places. Once the ship was steadied though the upward curve was consistent and imo would have continued with another season of UEFA Cup football if a replacement for Savage in Jan had been brought in. Our central midfield has been our Achilles heel for long enough.

I really dont understand the Anti ince stuff...

So far we signed a south american who has an excellent reputation on a loan with first option to buy.. thats damn good business (and unlike allot of SA players he wont be the only one in the side, I am sure RSC will help the lad settle).. how many of our former managers have made such exciting signings? To me we may not do as well as we have done in recent seasons, but we will be fun to watch.

We replaced our Keeper with a decent player who is 9 yeasrs younger for not much more, to me if we waited a couple of seasons would we still have the chance to bring in an international keeper for that sort of price? Because I doubt we would be able to and with Brad nearing 40 we would be in desperatte need for a keeper. Plus we sold a 37yr old for 2.75million.. that is pretty good business in anyones books. As a club we also seem to be able to rescue players careers from huge drops in form... RSC, Benni et al.

We did not include Bentley in the deal so he cant be used as part of the transfer

Ince has shown he can stand firm against stupid offers, and if we went on what he has said I dont think the likes of Bentley would be going, but sometimes it is not the managers choice.

Our pre-season has started well even without our new little signing, and judging by the comments Ince who has a reputation for getting the best out of his players is managing it here.. Pederson and Emerton are both on a role in pre-season

There is some worrying talk but as yet its only talk, lets see how the lad does in the new season, but so far most of the actual moves have been pretty good ones, and I am sure we may be in for a few more suprises :)

I do feel that if we continue as we are and manage to keep RSC and sell Bentley.. plus get the remaining guys we are after (RB, RM and midfield box to box chap) we may be in for a pretty entertaining season.

It's amazing how much abuse Ince has receieved here despite being in the job for only a month or two. Sometimes I wonder why some of you bother calling yourself supporters, as all you do is criticise, moan and snipe at players, managers or each other. If it causes you that much hassle, go away and take up fishing or something, find something you actually like. Or is the thought of being positive and willing to give people a chance about something anathema to you?

Thank God none of you are high court judges, as half of you would find suspects guilty before bothering with evidence. I also thank goodness none of you are very important stock brokers, as you'd cause shares to crash after hearing a story about a rumour of bad news.

Lets just see how things unfold until Christmas before burning the effigies.

Fair enough, we maybe fun to watch and play pretty football but this is a results business not an entertainment business. If we do not get back into europe this year, do you really think RSC and others will hang around I don't

I completely see your point, but in Brad we had one of the best in the league. Robbo maybe younger good point of view from a business sense etc but he is a risk brad was not. Also yes we do have a reputation for re-igniting fallen stars but that was under hughes, we will have to see if Ince etc can do the same, and I do not have a lot of faith in Matihas or Knox

We can't say we want to sell him it weakens our bargaining position, we all know he's available but we can't admit it

Its gone OK, but pre-season counts for nothing, I want to see how we're doing after 10 games or so

the trouble is alot of the worrying talk has come true, no-one on here believed brad was going he has though. I just hope we can hang onto Warnock and RSC

We must get back into europe this year nothing less will do if we don't we will have to start all over again RSC, Benni, MGP WARNOCK will all probably want to leave

Interesting new definition on this board of of the terms 'the jury's out', 'I'll suspend judgement' etc which usually directly follow a tirade of criticism and moaning. Just cop outs from posters who suspect they might have to jump back on the Ince bandwagon when we're doing OK.

It's no surprise to me that established first-teamers are unsettled. The problem is that they were too established under Hughes. What with no money to spend and no desire to even consider younger players, Hughes was effectively saying to his first team that you get picked no matter what (except the one player who did not deserve to be losing his place, Ooijer)

Now, all these untouchables are finding themselves having to prove their worth, and are also finding younger players much more included in that process. Hmmm, either their egos can't take it or their insecurities come to the fore. Whereas when hint of a bid comes in - oh great, I'm wanted and I'll probably get at least a 6-month pass into the first team.

Warnock is the best LB we have had for a while, but that's not saying much. He's no Keith Newton or Billy Wilson. If the manager thinks Olsen is up to then fair enough. Quadrupling our money in under 2 years is the only way we can make up for having an owner who isn't interested in chucking money at their hobby.

For the record, I like what Ince has done so far, the areas of the team he has highlighted for improvement, the way he wants us to play. I'm looking forwards to the new season, and I couldn't give a stuff if Warnock is there or not.

We were in the bottom 3 in Sept/Oct for each of Hughes' next 2 seasons though; remember our surges after Xmas?

If we are in the bottom 3 after the first match the cries for Ince out will be deafening.

More than likely, these are the first quotes from PI since there return from Portugal.

I find them to be very encouraging.

True or false, we will find out in the next month, especially the last paragraph.

"He's coming to a great bunch of lads, there are no bad eggs in this club which I've found out pretty quickly, and if there was they'd have gone by now, so he's coming to a great environment, the lads will help him and we are looking forward to see him on Tuesday." :o

Ince hails Robbo's arrival

He didn't "let" anybody leave. He admitted he tried his best to keep Brad but his mind was made up.

Who made the decision? You can bet your bottom dollar, that if Ince had told JW to keep hold of Friedel, he would still be here.

You have to face the facts.

Yes mum, it's been a tough start, but if he continues to let our best players leave, it will get one heck of a lot tougher.

Den - you're putting a ridiculous spin on this IMO. Retain and Transfer ended in the 1960s - the players are all powerful now as you well know.

What did you expect Paul Ince to do - have security guards put Brad Friedel under lock and key and tell him he can't take the Lerner $$$s??

This whole Messageboard is full of people who simply want to put Ince down and are looking for any excuse to do so. If Ince does get off to a bad start I can actually foresee a situation where most of the posters on this messageboard will be enjoying posting "I told you so" all over every thread.

Likewise I can sense people (not necessarily yourself Den) actually want the likes of Robinson and Fowler to do badly for the club, at which point why actually bother "supporting" the club at all??

:(

Maybe Ince was the one to decide Friedel should go, but who at this stage can say that this was such a bad thing? Once again we are judging the new boss before we have kicked a competitive ball.

If the manager (who has the benefit of knowing exactly what an unhappy player can do to a camp, unlike us) feels that the long term future of the club can benefit then so be it.

Ince can't win with some of you lot, no doubt if he had made Friedel stay, and he started off the new season like he finished off the old one (v Brum) people would be asking why we have kept an ageing player who doesn't want to be here when we could have had silly money for him and got someone else in.

Robinson has come in at practically a nett cost of nowt, and should be our keeper for many years, I don't see why it is the end of the world!

I don't want anyone to fail at Ewood Tris and I've never booed anyone either. Ince, Robinson etc will get full backing from me, like always.

I don't think it's a ridiculous stance to take either. Players have had transfer requests turned down before. Managers have come into new clubs previously and told everyone that no-one will leave until the new manager has had the opportunity to assess the squad. IMO, that's what Ince should have done.

Hughes and JW told Bentley last season that he wouldn't be allowed to leave, so it's nothing new.

What is the point in judging and criticising Ince before we have had a game? What does it achieve except undermine the club?

It's called discussion, that's all. It's a simple observation that some people agree with and some don't.
