Can anyone help?

When I'm on the internet, occasionally firefox, msn etc does not respond and a pop up message says I'm low on virtual memory. I used to have about 70% free then I've defragmented, removed all needless files and programs and have 80% of my C drive space free and it's still happens so I'm guessing thats not the problem.

Is there anyway I can fix this problem?
