67splitscreen Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Did Keggy, once try mind games with SAF. The whole world so what a wan@@r he made of himself then. Is this just another repeat performance. trying to get one over on the New kid on the block. I have just read this report on Rovers premium. No point me passing comment as we will all have our own interpretation of the quotes. They do sound positive though. I'm sure Nicko,s views would be appreciated. Ince hails Robbo's arrival

nicko Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Nicko, seeing as though there isn't much Rovers news at the minute to update on, how about (and I know it breaks the rules) your take on: - Sunderland and Diouf PRICE AGREED...PERSONAL TERMS TOO...SHOULD HAPPEN TODAY. - Newcastle and Coloccini VERY EXPENSIVE...GOOD PLAYER, BUT FIERY. - Everton and Moutinho TRYING...HARD...BUT MAYBE NOT HARD ENOUGH. - Liverpool and Keane STARTING TO LOOK ODDS-ON
gazsimm Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 is he prem top 6 quality? and then who is backup? and just what are we going to make duff do? push gamst out of the team? play in the center/right? it's hard to say if Olsen is prem top 6 player, but the few games he has played for Rovers he looks likes he can become a very good full back. Regarding Duff coming in that's a no no for me he' has spent the last couple of seasons in and out of the treatment room and his best days are now sadly gone.
broadsword Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 There's no logical place Duff could occupy in the team. We'd be getting a left-winger we don't need and losing our first-choice left-back, with an inexperienced understudy left. So we'd have to do some wheeler dealing just to accommodate Newcastle who want a player of our's we don't want to let go. Do Newcastle think we're mad or something?
vintageadidas Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Would not be happy with Duff for Warnock. He is past it, spends most of his time injured and is on bigger wages than we can afford. Very expesnive flop.

67splitscreen Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 In case you thought I was making the Warnock-Duff discussions up...this chap broke the original Newcastle-Warnock story and appears to be on the case again. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/footbal...wap-878733.html I don't think this one is going away in a hurry. Bit like a dog with a bone, then Nicko. With reference to a recent quote by JW, on the Freidel move, he said. It would have to satisfy two objectives, commercial & football. I think it's fair to say that would apply to all dealings in the transfer market for Rovers. So how does Warnock/Duff satisfy either?.

Newcastle want Warnock...they are offering Duff...Rovers have not accepted the idea yet. If they do then we can analyse it to death. The fact that it keeps rumbling tells me someone is encouraging Newcastle.
joey_big_nose Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 This whole Duff for Warnock thing is bizarre. For me there can only be one of these four reasons, or a combination of them, behind it: 1) Ince likes Olsson a lot. (possible but unlikely seeing as he has not got an abnormal amount of plang time in the friendlies) 2) Warnock really wants to go and has made this clear (possible. From what we have seen he is obviously interested in the move but hardly busting a gut to get out. Seems to be on the fence a bit. But we don't know what is going on behind closed doors) 3) Ince thinks Duff is a sensational opportunity that cannot be missed (actually not as unlikely as it seems. Ince's time for Fowler shows he is a fan of rehabilitating those who have lost their way. Obviously a lot of fans would disagree with such an approach.) 4) We have another left back lined up who is very good value and very high quality. (possible as our scouts have been all over Europe the last couple of weeks looking for a right back). ps. Also I imagine the board would be in favour of Duff coming back in the same way they supported the move for Dunn as it would have quite a large effect on ticket sales for those with a sentimental approach to the club. They might not realise a large section fo the support would be very annoyed by it! pps. I suppose there is a very outside option of moving Pedersen to left back. In some ways this makes sense: good in the air, covers a lot of ground, defensively sound. However he has no experience there and full back is about positioning as much as anything else and if you haven't player there much it is suicide. Plus his lack of pace would vastly limit his ability to overlap. Emerton could get away with it as he was moving from Wingback which is similar to fullback in some ways, and he has an outstanding engine. Also it wouldn't make too much sense to have a makeshift left back when we are currently trying to replace Emo with a specialist right back!

It bloody well needs to. In a nutshell Warnock's hungry Duff isn't. The floodgates are opening under the ewood exit sign.
krislu Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 I suppose there is a very outside option of moving Pedersen to left back. In some ways this makes sense: It doesn't really make sense as he would be awful playing left back. To put it this way, it will make less sense the play Pedersen at left back than signing Fowler on a 3-year contract, and that speaks volumes... The floodgates are opening under the ewood exit sign. I'm a bit worried you are on the money with this. Have we heard any of our players speak in a positive manner regarding ince and his trainingmethods? When we first got Hughes there was alot of positives coming out of the club, both from players and staff. Having said that, I'm sure it didn't take much to make the training more exciting than the conservative stuff Souness was up to...
thenodrog Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 i know losing Warnock will be a blow to Rovers but don't forget we have got Olsen as well who plays left back and looks a very good player Good well we'll swap him for Duff then gazz.
BRFC95 Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 The floodgates are opening under the ewood exit sign. I haven't noticed a trickle of players leaving, never mind a flood.

Just like the sixth sense displayed by rats leaving a sinking ship / Birds flying inland before a storm / Dogs running from a Tsunami before it arrives etc etc.

I don't often get the LT but the only statement of significance that I have heard from Ince (albeit made by JW) has been a downright lie simply put out to placate the fans objections to Friedel leaving.
Sparky Marky Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 I doubt Ince had any input into the Friedel thing...I just thank out lucky stars that we've managed to bring in a potentially better goalie....who's not even hit his peak yet...

Ewood and I Would Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 It HAD to be Ince's decision. Yeah but was it in the same context that it HAD to be the Queen's decision to invade Iraq?
gazsimm Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Good well we'll swap him for Duff then gazz. If we signed Duff, the medical team will be earning their money!!!
almuncle Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 The only way this deal makes any sense is if Warnock really wants out, Ince has found a better and cheaper replacement,a shedload of pounds and we pay Duff in Deep Heat vouchers! Even then...Why would Warnock want to go there?

Even then...Why would Warnock want to go there? Warnock will only go to Newcastle for the money. I feel sorry for ince myself Brad wanted to go, Bents wants to go and if true it looks like Warnock wants to go never mind the AXE!!!!
tony gale's mic Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Even then...Why would Warnock want to go there? This baffles me too...usually every summer they make exciting looking signings and still fail. This summer they have barely even added to their squad and have a suspect Kevin Keegan managing them. I'd probably back Boro to finish ahead of them next season.
