Do you know if Villanueva's agent is the agent of Sanchez at Udinese too? (Chilean right winger, asked about him earlier). He's a potential worldie but unsure what his price tag would be.

I don't know who his agent is but Udinese want something ridiculous like £15 million. They are quite a well-off club, so I wouldn't expect any chance of him coming to Rovers.

Now if my memory serves me right, Lucas Neill was recommended to Rovers by Ray Hartford

He could well have been, but Souey took the plunge for him...and Stephen Reid.

Souey also watched Tim Cahill but couldn't decide whether he was any good or not. A lot of people did the same. David Moyes spent six months making his mind up on him which is a long time to decide...even for Moyesie.

Lennon, Chimbonda & Robinson + £3m to give to Arsenal for Bentley.

Tim this is the complicated thing.

If we sign those 3 players, wouldn't they be valued, and then 50% (or whatever the sell on fee is) be taken out of those players valuations. Ie, Chimbonda worth 4 million. Robo worth 4 million and Lennon worth 6 million, we'd have to pay Arsenal 7 million plus half of whatever cash we get for Bentley ontop of those 3 players.

He just isn't an idiot, why spend 17m on Bentley when he is totally not worth that. Am aware of what we're doing with Barry and all that, so I know and understand Blackburns stance, but in the end its a bunch of mugs who signs the cocky ###### for that type of money and Spurs can happily be that bunch of mugs, I don't want him at my club for 17m...esp when I have a winger i rate higher already....in fact as I said plenty of times on that website, I don't particularly want him at Villa full stop, why sign someone who'll prob beg to leave us in a year or so if we don't look like top four.

'Mental O'Neill' spends the money like it's his own, it's frustrating but it's a good approach.

So why bid?

Villa bid for Bentley because [a] they thought their offer would be the best and they will have a few quid to throw around.

As it stands [a] is probably still correct if their bid was hard cash and closer to £15 million than £10 million. It's probably worth more guaranteed cash than Tottenham's effort which is full of bits and pieces - plus a keeper.

The trouble is that Bentley isn't too keen on the idea. Although if Spurs keep messing about...

Not worth it now, but will warrant that price tag eventually I think. If we bring in Castillo we're starting to look okay, but we still lack a right winger, and we need one able to beat his man like Bentley can....another MGP would be disastrous.

What is happening at Villa is MoN and Randy Lerner, two of the really nice guys in the EPL have failed to get their acts together- if they did I'd back Villa to win the EPL in 08/9, Lerner is THAT rich.

Castillo should be there pretty soon...but Chimbonda isn't on the radar - and probably won't be if Roy Keane spends big.

What a question. He wanted the player, why else does someone bid for a player. If your a Nicko fan then you'll see our bid was pretty good, it got turned down so we didn't wana blow a ton of money on him so fair enough, we look at other targets. Happens all the time in this league.

Am really not bothered where Bentley goes, he's a showboater with a @#/? attitude who's shat on all of you when you adored him...bit like Barry.

I am becoming less interested in who anyone outside the top 4 signs anyway, as soon as we get a good player they will come calling and we will always sell to them cause the player will always want out. @#/? being a little team isn't it.
