PAFELL Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I think that one day, this whole idea of taking top players on trial, who have agreed to join us, will back fire. Im not saying Castillo is a top player, but the guy does look a very good footballer, and if we going to mess it up, and he really turns out to be a good signing, then we will look really stupid. I can understand Fowler, but not this Castillo chap. Then again im having flashbacks Grabbi, and I change my mind on this whole trial thing Personally, I consider the whole trial thing an excellent idea for all parties. Often a player is bought by a club - excepts the terms etc - but once they get to the club, start training they find they either do not like the club / town or city and this effects there mental approach to games etc. At least with a trial the club get to meet and see the player - the player gets to see the club, the area etc, the people he would be working with - which benefits everybody.

Sparky Marky Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Aye and in the meantime Everton/Spuds or whoever come in and nick him from under our noses and he scores a hattrick to beat us....
RevidgeBlue Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Could you possibly find out if the rovers online shop will open before the jersey launch? At the Fans Forum last night it was said that the Club are finalising things like merchant banking arrangements and it was hoped the online shop would be up and running Thursday.
joey_big_nose Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 If Bentley is 17m surely we are looking at 20m+ for Roque? Not convinced that anyone has that sort of money to throw around. Plus there is not a lot to tempt the Paraguyan to do a sideways hop to Man City. They would have to pay massive wages.
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 a buddy told me news from spurs official site, is this correct ? "We are delighted to announce the signing of winger David Bentley for Blackburn Rovers Football Club. More information will follow shortly" Checked their website, nothing of the sort there.
Mc Love Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Maybe they are holding that story/headline until they sign him
Solberto Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Checked their website, nothing of the sort there. hehe, buddy tried to trick me damn

ffan Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Bresciano is signing - http://www.goal.com/it/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=788265 Translated to - E 'to stop the Italian adventure by Mark Bresciano. The Australian midfielder Palermo is near the transfer to Blackburn in Premier League, and will thus accontentate its demands. E 'in fact since last season that the player had expressed a desire to try another championship, specifically in England, where Manchester City was interested in him in the past. The treaty should be terminated at the beginning of next week, and frutterà to rosanero a figure close to 5 million euros. and according to - http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/index.php?a...d&id=114835
broadsword Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Not too difficult to check official spurs site ... and no such news on there ...
alexanders Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Nicko, have you heard anything about Bresciano or is this agent talk?

nicko Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Nicko, have you heard anything about Bresciano or is this agent talk? Goal.com are not very good normally. Can't see why Rovers would bring in Bresciano on top of Villanueva and possibly Castillo...plus Andrews if he comes.
Veevs Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 This Warnock thing is doing my head in.. check the funny comments from one of Newcastles longest standing players Shay Given .. He explained: "It's hard to say where we'll finish because we need more players, but our objective will be to do better than last season, when we were 12th." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11678_3855285,00.html is the article.. So Warnock leaves a club aiming for Europe.. for a team aiming to finish better than 12th.. who have no cash.. just sounds a bit of a joke to me.. They have always had the support.. but boy they are useless with money.
Eddie Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I'm not sure I'd like to Bresciano on the right, but if we are simply boosting our midfield options then it would be a very good move. We could go from having one of the weakest midfields in the league to having a choice of Bresciano, Castillo, Villanueva, MGP, Reid, Emerton, Dunn, Vogel and whoever is brought in to replace Bentley, which I hope would happen (plus Mokoena and the youngsters).
LeChuck Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Bresciano is signing - http://www.goal.com/it/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=788265 Interesting. If true I'd be slightly worried about Villanueva, they play in very similar positions. Maybe he's being looked at as a Bentley replacement though, which might indicate Spurs are nearing a dealable offer.
67splitscreen Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Goal.com are not very good normally. True but they where the ones that, forced your exclusine on Castillo, or was it Villanueva
Gav Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Same old same old, Our players being touted around by the media for less than market value in my opinion. Sant Cruz 15million? someones have a laugh? as has been mentioned, if he is to be sold you need to replace him and pay wages, so 20+ is more like it.
Iceman Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Goal.com are not very good normally. Can't see why Rovers would bring in Bresciano on top of Villanueva and possibly Castillo...plus Andrews if he comes. so leave Andrews and take Bresciano

Ince confused over new ruling, seven on the bench. Must think it's 18 a side, hence the need to pack the MF.
JAL Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Can the players not wait to ring you on their mobiles the minute they finish training in Austria? Could never expose that Rev, could one, but i was extremely disappointed when i heard it in fact very very disappointed.

Well, either that or we are really looking into 5 in midfield. If nothing else, it's good to have options. It is the most important area on the pitch, so it would be great to finally have the selection choices be difficult not simply because everyone is crap.
