Totally against the possibility of signing Given.

Totally agree. I think it has to be Robinson. As someone said ,getting an England International goalkeeper for the equivalent of 750k is excellent business by rovers. Especially if he can recapture the form that made him an international in the first place. Still got 8 good years in him aswell!

Totally against the possibility of signing Given.

I wouldn't worry too much, it's just a rumour on a toon forum....

I have just been told by a good mate of mine that Blackburn have bid for Given. My mate works in the club and has previously been right with info he has passed on. For all those who will shoot me down with all your in the know bullsh*t, I don't really care. I'm passing on the message incase anyone is interested.

It all seems to tie in with the fact that Friedel is off but Blackburn won't release him until the keeper they have had a bid accepted for the keeper they have bid for.

Don't know whether or not this is true but it would add up, I suppose only time will tell.

I think if Brad goes and we replace him well.........ie Robinson, the fans will be ok with it!(i will)

I think if Bentley and Santa Cruz go it will be extremely difficult to replace them with anyone

anywhere near as good as them, Fair enough we may get 30+ million but cant see any top top strikers

wanting to come to us, just being realistic!

Nicko, Do you know of any interest for Santa Cruz?

BTW Newcastle go away!

Given was a much better keeper than Robinson, being best keeper in the PFA team of the year twice (as recently as 2006), compared to Friedel's once and zero times for Robinson.

Form has dropped over past two seasons due to fitness problems, but if the fitness gets sorted he'd be way better than Robinson.

For what it is worth though, Friedel was and is better than both. You'd be fools to sell him. It is a shame Friedel couldn't get his work permit in 1994, when Keegan had him on loan but sent him home when a work permit application to make the transfer permanent failed.

Maybe Mk 4, a much better version of the mk 1 a bit like a Ford Escort :D

Fiesta XR2 more like.

Robinson PLEASE!!

The only thing that would calm my shattered nerves.

Upset that Brad is leaving, I do keep telling myself that he is getting on, still smarts.

It's 11 o'clock somewhere....so.

BRAD - The fee is £2.75 million. Straight cash as far as I know. Villa have gone in with a bit more and Rovers have accepted it which is all very civilised. Trouble is that we still have Spurs in the euqation.

ROBINSON - Rovers want to do it in the £3.25-3.5 million region, but I believe Spurs are looking for add-ons etc that will take it mich higher. So it is not yet done.

ALTERNATIVES - A couple of names are fbeing fpated but I have checked one and that has NOT moved. I think Rovers may be letting slip some names, but Robisnon IS number one choice.

SPURS - Chimbonda and Tianio going, Kaoul talking and even Malbranque considering it. This HAS to surely mean the money for Bentley, If not, he stays.

SUNDERLAND - The 'extra' player they want is Aidan McGeady, very ambitious but why not. Irish...so that helps. I believe they have gone in with an opening bid and won't go away...and they ARE spending money.

No more news on WARNOCK but that is still live.

VILLANUEVA and CASTILLO still on too. The Chilean should be in today, so we should know more. Castillo is here and still trying to complete his move.

Just because it deserves to be noticed by all;

It's all going downhill for Hughesy now... first his boss might be getting jailed, leaving him with no funds...

now he's soo far down the ropes he's appearing on Jeremy Kyle!

Should have stayed at Rovers!

Thats terrible!

Do you know the sum they are holding out for because that for Robinson seems just about right in my opinion.

Villanueva should be done tommorow then it's all good news.

Finally that arrogant prat Bentley, have Rovers "upped" their valuation of him to £18million??

Didn't he just sign a new long term contract with Celtic? Then again, what does that matter?

Bloody Spurs - for such a "big" club they don't half act like a bunch of tight arsed misers. Get on with it Levy. Or is it Man U holding the whole chain up with Berbatov? Who knows? When will it all end? At the end of August?

Can't see Spurs going from £6 million to £3.5 million and if they want us to pay huge add-ons i don't think its worth it and we should walk. Considering the guy is out of form and isn't wanted its a joke that they want more than £3.5 million.

Are Spurs still trying to involve Robinson as part of the Bentley deal? Spurs fans reckon their club should offer us £10 million plus Robinson for Bentley, i had to laugh.

And Nicko, any idea how long this may drag on? With less than four weeks to go i'm sure the likes of Villa and ourselves would like to bring in a new keeper and get them ready well before the new season starts.

Wouldn't that be better than straight cash, considering Arsenal's supposed percentage of sell on fee? I guess it all depends on if we really rate Robinson as our best option. I'd rather have him than Green to be honest on the basis that Green has had one decent season, whereas Robinson has had many more. But that's not to say Green won't overtake Robinson as the better future goalie.

I'm assuming Le Arse if they have such a high clause would take legal action over such a deal. We are better off seperating the deals and getting as much cash as we can.
