The missus is wondering if whoever did that could give me Roque's body....and face to be fair

Just said exactly the same thing. We're all laughing but I'm sure the shadows aren't right. Looks like a studio shot of Carlos' face stuck on another player's body - but who? Maybe we should start another thread - "Who's body??"

The more clips I see of this guy the more exited I am.

I have been thinking who does he reming me off and I think it is George best in the way he plays his football and swagger!!!!

I think as long as he settles well I think worse case scenario we have someone as good as Georgie Kinkladze which is still pretty damn good, but potentially I think he could be as good as Messi!!!!!

I really hope he settles quickly and he lives up to the hype.

Perhaps we should sign his brother to help him settle

Potentially as good as Messi? Are you having a laugh?

If he had that much potential then I seriously doubt he would be with us. He'd be playing with him in sunny Spain.

People need to calm down about this guy. He hasn't even played a competitive game for us yet. Let's just see how he does before deciding whether he's potentially the best player on the planet or not. When he plays, let's give him 100% support but let's remember that he's come from a different country, can't speak English, has never played in the Premier League before and has probably never eaten a Shearer pie or been to a proper chippy. Once he achieves all those then we can hype him up to the max.

Let's just be patient and wait and see!

Its been a long time since we've had a player like this, seriously we are going to win so many penalties. Its going to be edge of the seat stuff when he has the ball at his feet in the box, defenders won't be able to go near him..........his close control in all of the clips regardless of the opposition is unreal. Simply cannot wait for his debut. We have to play him as a second striker just so he can get the ball at his feet in the box as often as possible.

You have to remember i do believe he was linked with Real Madrid about a year ago around the same time he nearly joined Real Socieadad.

Lets be honest how many clubs have scouted the Chilean league i bet it not many. I can honestly i dont think I have ever been so exited about a player joining the mighty Rovers

Let's all just give a big thank you to Real Sociedad.

Carlos was signed by them for 3.5 mil, they could not make the payment, asked for a 48 hr extension, they never got it.

The rest is history, and our good fortune.:lol:

Not mentioning any names, but on another Rovers board there is a Scout, who spends most of his days, looking at South Americans and Eastern Europeans.

He was saying there is no corner in the world that's not looked at now, those that are not don't play football.

There are probably scouts/agents throughout the South American leagues who are always in contact with the big European clubs to get their players signed because of the potential money available.

The reason why there aren't that many over in the United Kingdom is more than likely because of the cultural differences which is why a lot of South Americans end up going to Italy and Spain because they can adapt a lot easier there.

Hopefully Carlos Villanueva lives up to his ever growing reputation and i'm sure everyone at the club, both fans and the club itself, are very excited at what he has to offer but like Paul Ince said. We need to remember that he needs to adapt to the country and this could take time.

Let's not build him up so much that the only way is down. Let's show him our support, make him feel welcome and understand that we might not see the best of him just yet. If we do then that's an added bonus.

It's simply the easier availability of work permits elsewhere.

I agree to a certain extent.. but are there that many SA players in europe? Not really most clubs are scared to splash out on the established ones because more often than not they dont make it.

In the case of Carlos and Rovers though I reckon he will settle fine, we are a town club not a city club where no one lets you settle.. I hope those people in or around Blackburn show the lad some support in his day to day life, I am proud of us being a town and the most successful town in premier league history (never mind football history lol).. lets make sure the lad feels at home.

i hope he will adapt quickly and maby if he get his chance show signs of what he can do already this weekend against brunley. i'm seriously glad we have agreed a contract with him so that the only thing we will have to do, is to pay the bill.

and if he don't impress we can always relay on dunny, i think he will be great this season if he keep away from injury.

It's right to be excited about this guy, but (as others have said) is it not more right & proper to be patient, sensible and realistic?

How many movies look great on the trailer, then when you see them at the cinema you realise you've seen the best 3 mins already?

No matter how good he is, without the ball he can do nowt - if we play the tactics we played yesterday he might as well go on the pitch in a cherry picker.

Anyone else notice they've done a second dodgy pic of him in the programme? The one from the web site was on the sponsor's page, and there was another with the same head shot but superimposed on a black top.
