Another factor not to sign him at the moment could well be down to the contract: Radio Lancs today, in saying the club are not going to sign him this season, said the purchase fee was $8 mil, so with the rate of exchange worsening all the time, it would make the deal even more expensive.

Blimey, the young man had no chance, fantastic or useless!

5 league starts + 3 sub appearances and then 2 league cup starts + 1 sub appearance.

That's a decent amount of football to judge if the guy is rubbish or decent. Whilst he is a little lightweight in appearance, the guy has something to offer and considering he has come from the pontins south american league, he has stepped up to the pace quite well. Against Villa for one he had a great game as the midfielder spreading the ball out to the others.

He didn't look lightweight to me - dumpy more like!

What's dumpy? rubbish? I disagree...not because he doesn't make it in the premiership means he's not a good footballer. He might try Spain or Italy...where S.American football can adapt better.

Good point, i can see him doing well in Italy or Spain if he does make that move.

I don't think he has had enough chances myself to prove he is either good or not good enough at this level. If we were doing well in the league I think he would have had more of an opportunity to show his qualities, most managers will look to experienced players in situations like ours.

You also have to keep in mind a lot of foreign players don't make a huge impact in their first season, it can take a season to get used to life both on and off the pitch in a new country, especially if its a youngster.

I think by dumpy he means chubby.

If Ince could make a team that finished 7th look like relegation certainties, it is no great surprise that he was unable to nuture a talent like Villanueva who needs to adjust to the pace and physicality of the premiership.

Carlos needs to be introduced slowly but regularly to the first team and for his confidence to be built up. Unfortuneately in the situation that we are now in, in the league this is always going to be difficult with a natural "battler" like Roberts always getting the nod. A run out in the cup should be great for Carlos's progress and in a situation were we should always have enough big guns to take the match ( unless we completely disrespect Blyth and field a team of reserves and youth players and put no leaders on the pitch at all)

What if Rovers are just doing this in a cunning plan to cut the fee in case he does prove himself over the rest of the season? Or maybe he alraedy has done, and they are just trying to bring down the price :P

Ditto R6 - it wont prove anything other than possibly convince Sam that he's got something to offer. I am hopeful Carlos can do a job in the 5 man midfield that we'll inevitably end up playing.

i'd like to see a plumber against carlos but it really is pointless and he should be looking at others like vogel to see what they can offer

Hope he does well. It might not the ideal place for him to show what he can/can't do, possibly due to a hard surface.

It's also one of those everything to lose, nothing to gain. If he does poorly, he's done in England and if he does well it's just lower level opposition.

Thats even more likely to be spot on considering Sam's comments earlier. If he bombs against Blyth he might as well go straight to the airport.

King Carlos had the demeanour of man on his way out.

He didn't have a great game against Blyth, to say the least. However, he showed sparks of skill that no-one in our squad is capable of. It will be Rovers loss, I feel, if Sam lets him go.

But, hey, the functionalism of whirling elbows and shins of Jason Roberts are the way forward, it would seem.

I felt he was unlucky to come off today should have been the awful Derbyshire

Hoping he's kept on until the end of the season, and not sent straight back to Chile in January...would be a shame for all that pre-season hype to be wasted without a chance to see what Sam can do with him!

Buena suerte Carlos! :rover:

If another club comes in for him, he will go, if we're to trust Audax' representatives. Great free kick, a few decent touches, but not a very good game overall.

I don't really think anyone should be judged by this performance. It was a scrappy game from the start.
