Though Robinson is a great shot stopper he is dividing opinions on here. I don't think Rovers will stay up with him in the net because he's lacking technically . Every high ball caused Ewood to hold it's breath yesterday. He's had super support yesterday but looks a nervous as a cat with fleas. I blamed him for 2 of the goals. He's made a sound defence into the worst in the league. Add to that the 80 yard punt from every backpass - anyone see the look Nelsen gave him on about 80 minutes - and he's first out under a new manager for me.

Think we need to spend heavily on a replacement or give Brown a run.

When he was signed I though 'great bit of business' and didn't give it another thought until the last couple of games. Not that he is making Gomes-like blunders but I am finding myself asking, 'Where's the beef?'

Really good goalkeepers don't let in 3 goals a game, every game. He is a good reaction shotstopper, though not as good as Brad, but I'm thinking that is all. He seemed to dive right over the first one yesterday and the second was not a gimme either.

Jury's still out

His attempt to stop the first goal against Liverpool was woeful.

It was a soft shot and almost at him. He dived over it.

The second was a well struck shot, but from a narrow angle. I would hope he would save those.

The third came from a poor attempt by him to clear the ball.

So questions to answer on all 3.

Bunn should be pushing for a place but doesn't get on the bench. Wierd.

Has anyone seen Robbo catch a ball from a free kick, or corner, not many to my recollection.

IMO this put's the whole defence ubder pressure knowing they have to make the clearance.

Agree, with post regarding his ability to get down to low shots, he seems so slow to get his frame down.

How many saves did Brad make by using his feet, instead of trying to get his hands on it.

He's improving but still has a long way to go.

i agree the first goal yesterday was weird. but you cant blame him for our team losing against liverpool. the problem is we are able to hold them for an hour, but when they start the hard preassure we have no chance. we have a very low max level at the moment. thats the problem.

Nelsen is the worst offender on the entire team for aimlessly punting it forward.

He always was. In the days that he and Andy Todd were at the heart of our defence, it was Andy that played the neat passes. He always thumped the ball forward.

Some of his saves yesterday were world class and he did not make any mistakes. What do you want?!?

The first one at Old Trafford or the one that went across him at Villa which, although well struck, a top class keeper would save. A more consitent keeper wouldn't make errors like the one against Sunderland which may well have swung the whole game.

I didn't say I want shut of him - I just said he isn't as good as Brad was at his best.

Robinson most definitely IS pants.

A goalkeeper is not required to possess qualities simply in reaction stops. He also has to be able to stop set-piece. Or at least look like he has any chance of saving set pieces. Robinson is as clueless and as helpless as a 6 year old on his first training game. His hands down, glued to his body, he even jumps away from the ball. He lacks the most fundamental skills of being a goalkeeper. Friedel won us at least 20 points a season in matches we could have lost 5/6-0. Robinson is not even 1% of that.

OK, I'll bite. Sorry Mr. E, that's tosh. He's made the odd rick but nowhere near as bad as you're making out. If Cech was in goal behind our defence the end result would be much the same. He's being let down badly by his team-mates.

Whoever picked him as England No.1 not too long ago deserves to be shot then.

I think Robinson is doing astonishingly well in the circumstances.

Last season Rovers defended with method and determination from the front.

Now we are playing with who knows what our defensive unit of 4 is and a midfield which every game lets the opposition run unimpeded at full pace at our defenders at least three times every half.

The defence has gone to pieces under that pressure but it is to Robo's immense credit that he is standing up to bombardment he is subjected to every game.

Interesting to note that two of Liverpool goals came from a central midfielder trying to pass to our forward (Cruz) in the opponents half, the pass never connected Rovers lost possesion and more importantly the centre of midfield was completely caught out allowing the opposition to run at our goal with unbelievable ease.

For me all three players involved were culpable Tugay, Cruz and Andrews.

We need two new proven central midfileders and a forward to replace these three above as they should all go.

Seriously, lose our top striker?

If we could £15 million plus I would consider selling, but then who is to say that we will have £15 to spend on new players, the trustees would probably give us £3 million and the rest will vanish into the air.

Was you not there at the game imy9, Cruz looked like a man definitely going through the motions not trying too hard you had to see it to believe it he wasnt very good.

Cruz has been one of my favourites but that performance left a lot doubts in my mind over his committment to Blackburn Rovers very disappointing.

A good point. Our fundamental problems are all in midfield. It is unable to create chances and, by the same token, unable to protect the back four.

The players are attempting 'defence-splitting' passes in the final third which aren't coming off because none of the four who started on Saturday, Tugay excepted, are capable of executing them.

These attempted passes are invariably wayward, giving the opposition possession and the chance to break on the back four.

I've advocated before the sale of Santa Cruz to provide the funds to sign at least one maybe two creative players in January.

The same thought has crossed my mind for a few matches now, but to be fair he has been carrying an injury.

Its looking like that may well be the case, dont want to lose Santa but if thats what it needs then so be it though I think Roberts/MaCarthy should also be thrown into the transfer mix.

You'd think that if the club are smart they can pull in some cash when recruiting without doing too much damage to their debt levels.

I felt sorry for Robinson lately, he must look at the defenders infront and think, how did i deserve this

He doesn't have to think long. He failed both his country and previous club. That's why Spurs dumped him and he's not even England's 3rd choice keeper anymore.
