Exactly. He just makes it appear like he was right in the first place. There is nothing to suggest that Hughes was EVER in the running for the Chelsea job. Nicko just made it appear that way. It cannot be proven either way. I haven't heard a single professional in the game, suggest that Hughes was ever in the running.

Yet everybody on here feels like they were privy to some exciting information that only a change in circumstances prevented what we were told happening.

If Scolari hadn't already accepted the job previously, then why had Boswinga already signed? A coincidence? It can't be proven though so Hughes was obviously in the running...

It very much reminds me of Gordon Brown and his magical economy; build up a reputation (making a big deal out of the things that you got correct whilst ensuring that nothing can be proven wrong), and before long you have NEVER been wrong and everybody believes anything you say.

Remind me who tipped Scolari, resulting in decent windfalls for a fair few number of posters on this website?

Time to get this thread back on topic somewhat:

Robbo hails Big Sam's impact

"You could see by our performance against Stoke what Sam had done," Robinson told the Daily Star.

"He mainly worked on building up the defence again in the two days before Stoke because we've been conceding too many goals for no particular reason."

"We looked a lot more solid on Saturday. It was nice to stand behind that defence".

Just announced as the new manager

Really? I can't believe it.

(It was announced on Look North (Yorkshire) last night)

You are right guys. Everything must be true. Ince made Friedel leave because he hates him but they didn't want anybody to know this. Everybody is in on the cover up or being lied to.

nicko said so..... (and he got the Simon Grayson thing correct!).

Same guy who tipped Hughes and Ancelotti?

I don't remember being advised to back either of those. I do remember being advised to back Scolari.

Really? I can't believe it.

Do you actually believe that being so childish helps to enhance your point?

Too much time... Shouldn't you guys be helping your missus with wrapping presents or taking the kids out to give her (or us) a break or something. Is it a macho thing that someone has to be proved right or wrong? The truth could be a mixture of things. Give is a rest please, it's Christmas. Love, peace and goodwill and all that stuff.

Or I'll bang your heads together. <_<:P

I was going to post something similar but not so well put...and without the head banging, but I doubt it would have had the same affect. :D

Really?? Announce what, that they wanted him/ and blackpool had refused permission or that he got the job?

Looks like the bookies missed it too then. They suspended it yesterday but re-opened once Leeds were refused permission. Bet they are gutted they dont watch the same programs as you. 3/1 on Grayson this morning too!!

Nicko tipped about half a dozen people for the Chelsea job, although I will grant you that Scolari was the first name he mentioned.

Nicko gives out gossip he has heard. Whether these are ultimately true or not is irrelevant as they should not be taken as facts. I am sure he does not make them up but gets them from his sources. Take your pick whether they are going to turn out to be true or not.

The problem is that too many people either take his gossip as gospel or try and hold him to account for every single piece of gossip. Of course he mentioned various people for the Chelsea job...they obviously had various people in mind before plumping for Scolari.

Of course he mentioned other people than Ince regarding the Rovers job in the summer...John Williams himself has confirmed they considered numerous managers before deciding on Ince. Therefore...anybody who had ONLY tipped Ince would have been the one in the wrong as he was not the constant and only possible choice.

Some people take what nicko says as to be a certain tip when in reality much of it is just what is being talked out. Transfer rumours are just that...rumours...and many things can happen to stop them happening.

Last night at 6:30pm, the news was Grayson had been offered the job, Blackpool had refused permission for him to talk with Leeds, but that bets WERE STILL OFF. The presenter said he would probably be unveiled tomorrow.

Maybe nicko had told him?

In retrospect, there has been newspeak from the club on other matters, and nicko posted almost immediately after Ince's appointment that Brad was a likely leaver to complete opprobrium from other posters.

The reasons why and the timing thereof all came out later.

No he didn't Philip... I did that. I'd heard that he wanted to go to City and that Hughes wanted to sign him. Nicko had stated Brad was happy but jumped on my Brad leaving story a few days later when Villa came in with a megabucks offer.

This one single event might yet live long in our memories but for all the wrong reasons! :(

Not at all - but you do judge the source before you judge the information - and his strike rate is excellent.

He said that Brad would go BEFORE Ince was confirmed. He said he would go to Villa and not Man City as some others suggested. He said that we were looking at Robinson or Carson. he said we wouldn't let Brad go until Robinson signed.

It all panned out exactly as he said it would. Yet some people still refuse to accept it.

Nicko had initially stated that Brad was quite happy with Ince and staying at BRFC. :rover:

I got fed up with waiting to see Rovers on MOTD and went to bed but saw the Villa game. I've no axe to grind over Brad leaving but was interested to see he was badly at fault for both Arsenal goals in a match Villa deserved to win. First went under his leg and the second he went down so early the Arsenal player almost had an open goal.

If Robinson had saved Robinhio's goal today, he would have been a hero. That is the type of goalkeeper we need. Someone who will save us at the end. Robinson could not.

Brad would've done. Which numpty was responsible for letting Brad go?
