Hughesy Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 He wont leave - I agree Patrick. Robbo was a very good signing, especially for the money we paid too. To replace Friedel with Robbo for more or less the same money was excellent. We now have a keeper who could go on to become a fans favourite and be with us for another 7 or 8 years.

LeChuck Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 The more i think about the signing of Robbo the more i think it was a masterstroke. We all know what a loss friedel was, but the longer Robinson is here the more i like him. I was thinking about this the other day...would anybody swap Robbo for Friedel this summer? I'd be amazed if anyone would given their respective ages and form last season. The transition was a bit bumpy through the first half the season but I believe we'll be much stronger for years to come for that transfer last summer. Whatever Ince's motivations for doing it, it was definitely the best thing he did for the club in his time here.
Hughesy Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 To be fair to Ince - Robbo was a cracking signing, and it turned out Andrews was also a very good piece of business (considering the vital goals and the decent job he has done) - both are now worth far more than what we paid for them, and both are back on the international scene. Surely that has to be a point the club need to sell to potential signings!!
LeftWinger Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Robinson will be the one good thing to come out of the Ince era - like Jansen was the one good thing to come out of the Kidd era.
Amo Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Tbh, after the Keane & Defoe debacle, nothing would surprise me.
begresko Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Just wanted to say thankyou to robbo for being a true gent today and looking after the premier league reading stars down at brockhall. He also gave away the striker he would like us to sign...Drogba. We can dream eh!

dazmaz Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 robbo pulled off quite a few very inportant saves last season and he looks like hes really enjoying himself here at BRFC, and with our defence looking stonger and not quire a leaky as the start of last season i think he has more to show, ill admit hes not friedel but hes damn close and could very well be better in a few years
thenodrog Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 There were quite a few who thought that a year ago. Even taking the age difference into account I was not one of them.
deryck guyler's spoon Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 So, you're admitting you were wrong, Gord? ****ing no chance!
BuckyRover Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Even taking the age difference into account I was not one of them. So you were wrong about Robbo and about Andrews, whereas I was correct. Good times.
tony gale's mic Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Are people still feeling so optimistic about Robbo? Yet another mistake by him - I've never been a fan but was always hoping he'd prove me wrong and come good. I very much doubt that will ever happen.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 He's crap, another Ince master stroke. John Filan was better with a brokem arm.
thenodrog Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Are people still feeling so optimistic about Robbo? Bucky? American? Deryck? Are you out there? It seems to be one gaff per game now. http://www.brfcs.co.uk/mb/index.php/topic/19360-paul-robinson/page__view__findpost__p__669301 Sometimes being always right can become a burden at times.
Amo Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 He's a liability, but he can thump it 80 yards on a regular basis, so Sam won't drop him.
broadsword Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Did he really **** it up on a wide ball AGAIN? hopefully will get to see it later. can't believe he was England's first choice, but has such a basic flaw to his game. I do wish we'd get rid, get someone better in for less, and free up some funds for a midfielder.
Backroom DE. Posted January 11, 2010 Backroom Posted January 11, 2010 He's been very poor quite recently, but before that he hadn't been doing so badly. He's having a huge dip in form, just like the majority of our 'team'.
Backroom Tom Posted January 11, 2010 Backroom Posted January 11, 2010 I've been a Robbo defender and still think he's decent. But thats just it, he's decent, he doesn't seem to win us many points and is vunerable and I think we would be as good with Bunn there. With that being said if he could still get us a few quid we may as well sell
Rob of the Rovers Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I can overlook the first goal, he is generally sound on crosses and commanding his area. His problem comes from shots from outside the box. For both of Tevez's goals, he was stood on the edge of his six yard box as the ball flew past him. Essien, Blake, Adebayor, Fabregas, Vermaelen...it's the same everytime, you don't even need to stick it in the corner to beat Robbo! Either someone needs to tell him to stand on his line to give himself more time to actually make a save, or he needs to go.
Bobby G Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 He is decent AT BEST. Id say he is up there with Almunia in terms of the "averageness" of their performances.
broadsword Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I can overlook the first goal, he is generally sound on crosses and commanding his area. Can't agree there mate.
Rob of the Rovers Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Can't agree there mate. I'm not defending him, it was a bad mistake. I'm just saying it's his vulnerability from long shots which is his real problem.
broadsword Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 People might say that's down to the design of the ball, but he does seem to have more problems than other keepers. I really hope he doesn't make it to South Africa this summer. Definitely a dodgy keeper in my book.
Muddboy Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I've been a Robbo defender and still think he's decent. But thats just it, he's decent, he doesn't seem to win us many points and is vunerable and I think we would be as good with Bunn there. With that being said if he could still get us a few quid we may as well sell I agree. Robinson is only slightly better than average and the more mistakes he makes, the more I start to think we could do with a change. Bunn would get my vote for a go in the team.
