T4E Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Wes Brown also announced his retirement from international football. When did he start ? Thats like me announcing my retirement from having sexual relations with Angelina Jolie.

Majiball Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Bloody hell chap, you've had sex with Angelina Jolie 23 times, lucky bugger.
LeChuck Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Retiring for the kind of petty reasons Robbo has done isn't something I support. The thing is, I don't think we know the whole story. Quite a few pundits and ex-players were saying there must be a reason other than football why Robinson didn't go to the world cup. He was easily one of the best three English goalkeepers last year. I reckon we'll see Robbo reverse this decision when Capello goes. If he keeps himself in decent shape he's still got another 6-10 years in the game.
MeanGreenMachine Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Personally i dont blame Robbo one bit, good on him Crapello totally ignored him from his squads leading upto the world cup, not even a token call up. Now Crapello realises how gash we were in the WC, drops 2 of the worst keepers ever to pull on the england shirt and now robbo is good enough? The fact he rates Foster above Robbo just shows he doesn't know his arsehole from his earhole. Robbo can now spend more time with his family and firmly concentrate on his job at Rovers without traveling around the world play 3rd wheel.
Rover down South Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Someone said a while back that Robbo didn't want to be in the squad if he wasn't number one. Also what the hell do soldiers in Iraq or wherever have with to do with football? I hate it when stuff like that comes into play. It has to do with representation of your country. Where would we be if our soldiers decided they couldn't be arsed anymore?? It was a comparison. I am sick & tired of the attitude of some top footballers these days, they really don't realise how lucky they are, some paid more a week than I earn in FOUR years, idolised by fans & then behave in the childish way they do. He should of FOUGHT to get his place back, he's a bottler. I'm a proud Englishmen. I'm a proud Rovers fan. I was delighted when Robbo was recalled, we had a player in the national squad at last, something we haven't been able to boast in recent times with Bentley & Warnock leaving.

There is a strong and undeniable link there. You've written it but you don't seem able to see it. Personally I'd not be fussed if I never saw another Rovers player in an England kit. Obviously though I'm not the Rovers bank manager.
Inta Beaver Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I can't believe the contradiction in that post intabeaver. First you are not getting carried away then you say next sentence that Hart was brilliant last season. . btw Did you go to the Brum match intabeaver? I did go to the Brum game, and just because he didn't have a blinder doesn't mean he didn't have a brilliant season! Did you go to the Liverpool game away by any chance? All keepers have a bad game, would you say Robinson had a brilliant season or not?
OscarRaven Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Don't agree with his timing, motives or method. Yet another over paid footballer throws a tantrum and tries his best to undermine the England Manager all because he feels a bit unloved. I wont jump to his defence just because he is a Rovers player (well at least until a big club comes calling)....crazy. Teams win because of the sacrifice, commitment, leadership and talent of thier members. Robinson has demonstrated none of these qualities he doesn't deserve to pull on the shirt (ever again) and its no loss for England. We have enough ego's and childish behaviour around the England team as it is.
super_arran Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 He should of FOUGHT to get his place back, he's a bottler. . His form was undeniably brilliant last season, Yet he was left out of the England squad for the world cup. How hard do you actually want him to fight?
Blue blood Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Daft move by Robbo imo. Foster's pants and it'll quickly show - pretty sure he'll drop away. As for Hart he is not guarenteed regular first team place, so realistically that, or an injury, could mean Robbo wouldn't have been far from reclaiming his no 1 jersey.
Rover down South Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 . His form was undeniably brilliant last season, Yet he was left out of the England squad for the world cup. How hard do you actually want him to fight? To stay with the England squad, perform in training & when he gets his chance, prove to Capello why he should be number 1. I understand he had a good season, so did Bobby Zamora and he got overlooked for the sake of Heskey, he hasn't retired though, he is waiting to grab his chance.
BuckyRover Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I think he has made a bad decision, but I understand why he did it.
roversmum Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 It's an insult to Robbo to expect him to go along to make up the numbers. Folks who are going on about it's an honour to play for your country need to take a look at those who turn up, swan about like they are the best thing since sliced bread and don't even produce crumbs on the field. No fire, no passion, complete disinterest - that is more of an insult to our country in my view.

Capello picked Zamora who chose not to go because of injury, didn't he?
blue/white Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Bloody hell chap, you've had sex with Angelina Jolie 23 times, lucky bugger. Surely he should get himself checked out at a clinc--- that's a most dirty gal--it's a surprise it's not fallen off yet. (sorry, Mum )

I understand he had a good season, so did Bobby Zamora and he got overlooked for the sake of Heskey, he hasn't retired though, he is waiting to grab his chance. Capello has rated foster ahead of Robbo. Either he's not been watching many matches or he doesn't know his arse from his elbow when it comes to keepers. His form alone shows he is a better keeper than Foster, Green and James. And as someone else has already pointed out, Zamora was picked he was just injured so couldnt go.
AHoyle90 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I respect Robbos decision and fully understand why he's done it. I back him fully and his commitment to Rovers is unquestionable
RevidgeBlue Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I'm not sure Robinson has made the right move, it seems to me the keeper's jersey is pretty much up for grabs now and if Hart can't get a game at Citeh that would tend to put Robbo in pole position. Can understand why he's done it though, he's clearly better than both James and Green imo and should have gone to SA. And if it's been made clear to him he still won't be first choice this week there's little point in travelling just to sit on the bench.
JAL Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 One thing to come out of all of this is, why do England need THREE goalkeepers for a grubby friendly when Two is plenty with the possibility of A.N.other being on last minute call or standby IF and when required.
tony gale's mic Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 One thing to come out of all of this is, why do England need THREE goalkeepers for a grubby friendly when Two is plenty with the possibility of A.N.other being on last minute call or standby IF and when required. Every national side names three goalkeepers in their squad for these games. The manager names a squad to take a closer look at the players in training as well as to provide players for the game. Don't understand this "Robbo making up the numbers" @#/? either for that very reason - every national side names three goalkeepers. Capello never specified which of these keepers was first choice, and the previous first choice (well, both of them) are no longer in the squad so it was up for grabs. Sadly Robbo saw some petty percieved slight against him as something which took greater priority.
philipl Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I think Robbi knew the score rather than seeing a perceived slight. Whilst none of Robboi, Bridge and Brown are first name on the team sheet candidates, it is rank bad man management to end up with them all unavailable when the number of English born players in the 220 kicking off in the PL reaches a new record low this weekend and a significant proportion of those will be wearing the tangerine of Blackpool.
hollowsr Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I'm in full support of Robinson for this, it's been perfectly obvious for a long time that Capello doesn't rate him so what is the point of Robinson traipsing round Europe and further with friendlies to play no part? He was going to be making up the numbers in Capello's eyes. That's not even from my Rovers point of view. From a Rovers point of view I'm much happier for Robbo to take 10 days off effectively and just have to turn up for training here than be bored out of his mind with the England squad. Also haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but during the Celtic game our fans were singing England's number 1 to him, he laughed and clapped us before shaking his head, pointing to the badge and pointing to the 1 on his back, class act.

Can understand a national team taking along an up and coming third choice keeper for experience, but in Englands case that up and coming keeper could actually be the number one so to have three experienced keepers for me would complicate things greatly.
Iceman Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Capello is a tit... Its a slap in the face for Robbo, to now be selected for a meaningless friendly days before the start of the season. Im glad he has done what he has, Capello is taking some players for a fool. Good on you Robbo, Rovers number 1

Good on you Robbo, Rovers number 1 If reports are to be believed, he hadn't even been "selected" but had been told he wouldn't be first choice making Wednesday at least a completely pointless exercise.
