laughatthedingles Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Anyone else hoping Nicko comes back with an eleven o'clocker saying he was winding us up and giving us some good news for a change?

Ewood and I Would Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Anyone else hoping Nicko comes back with an eleven o'clocker saying he was winding us up and giving us some good news for a change? I should imagine he's reading the entire Premier League rules to avoid making another boob
vintageadidas Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I think Andrews be decent for the subs bench. I have seen him play in pre-season while visiting a mate. He has a very good engine, gets stuck in and has a swagger about him now as he was voted best player in the league and has been heavily linked with a premiership club. Savage was not premiership class but he made a good living from it. Andrews would chase every ball and put every limb on the line to keep the lead if we were 2-1 up in the 80th minute away at Spurs. But he is NO WAY good enough for the first team. He is better than Mokoena, but then again so am i.
dannyboy1206 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 The 11 o'clocker comes out of the stalls quickly...which is more than can be said for half-a-dozen nags tonight. ANNAN - Rovers tried to take him on LOAN after a full-time deal was set up. The kid went home in the huff. Arsenal DO want him next week and he may well sign. He can go for £1.5 million and Wenger thinks it is worth a punt. The player wanted to sign for Rovers...but felt let down. £1.5M got to worth a gamble surely If Ince prefers to sign Andrews instead of Annan or have Fowler instead of McCarthy is it any wonder that the club are reluctant to give him money to spend. With a week to go before the start of the League campaign the club seems to be a total mess. Rumours of discontent amongst the players refuse to go away and there is a deafening silence from the manager and club. We finished 7th in the League last season, have had two back to back European campaigns and we seem unable to attract any quality players of Premier League experience with the exception of Robinson - and even he is not the same calibre as the guy he replaced. I am beginning to wonder how many of our established players will still be with us when the transfer window closes. Surely there is little to encourage the likes of Warnock and Santa Cruz that this is a club with ambition. My great fear is that all the progress we have made under Hughes is going to be allowed to drain away and I've certainly seen nothing yet to diminish those fears. Username the Grim Reeper ?
nicko Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 ANNAN - Let's get it right. The manager has seen him in training and made an opinion. Has anyone else SEEN him at that close range? If he is unsure, so be it. ANDREWS - Again the manager has worked with him and rates him...a manager has to manage - whether you agree with his decisions or not. LOANS - When you take a player 'on loan' from an foreign club it is, in fact, an international transfer. The 'loans' being talked about in those rules are for domestic loans. You only have one of those in Simpson. Villanueva is an international transfer. Annan would have been too...why else would the manager suggest it. It is HIS idea, not mine.
DingleBaiter Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Interesting that Lee has sort of rubbished Nicko's story on the official board. He has reiterated that the EPL rules this season only allow two loan players of anu sort and that Simpson and Villanueva are Rovers' two. There is therefore no question whatsoever of Rovers offering Annan a loan deal as they simply would not be allowed to. Philip What do you mean official board? Who is Lee? cripes its confusing
nicko Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I should imagine he's reading the entire Premier League rules to avoid making another boob Oh really?
walk down bolton road Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 ANNAN - Let's get it right. The manager has seen him in training and made an opinion. Has anyone else SEEN him at that close range? laughatthedingles Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 hold on, nicko is reporting we tried 2 sign annan on loan, does that mean its dead? and also does that mean the club dont know the rules or are we not understanding them right? Finally, nicko please take over from ince.
The1mattjansen Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 It does have to be said that some people are pathetic to the point of being painful to read, in their criticizing of Nicko. I'm no relation or lover of the man, but he comes on here dailly with news that you cannot get anywere else and makes life a little interesting for a lot of people. The amount of times he has been 'wronged' by people's petty objections is calcuable on one hand. Give it a rest.
DeadlyDirk Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Good news for some, bad news for others...leave it until later for the full picture. So where was the good news in all of this? Haha By the way nicko, 1.45 at Ascot tomorrow, Froissee, you heard it here first
Ewood and I Would Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Oh really? It's either you or JW, if you know more than him we really are in TROUBLE When Simpson was signed on loan I asked John Williams if that was the maximum number of loan signings and he said yes. I've no reason to doubt him.
nicko Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 nicko have we or have we not blown it with Annan ?. As it stands Annan is heading for Arsenal next week...to sign, not to trial. Unless he fancies one of the foreign clubs after him.
steverovers Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 So where was the good news in all of this? Good news for Andrews
nicko Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 It's either you or JW, if you know more than him we really are in TROUBLE How often do I have to tell you...international transfers are not counted as loan transfers in this rule. Check back a couple of weeks to your 'you must be lying about Robinson, Friedel and Bentley' routine while you are at it.
dannyboy1206 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 As it stands Annan is heading for Arsenal next week...to sign, not to trial. Unless he fancies one of the foreign clubs after him. There has to be something that they are unsure about but like I said before at £1.5M and probably not too high wages it must be worth the gamble I cant help thinking we are going to live to regret this Remember Roy Keane all those years ago(if the story is true)
DingleBaiter Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Seems like its a blinking contest, a contest to get the most blinking ludicrous player in by the most haphazard, long-winded, amateurish way. If this is all a ploy to bury bad news about signing Andrews, where is the good news? Nicko, not digging at you - hope it don't seem that way - but all this just seems crackers, thanks for your updates - depressing and frustrating as they may be, it's still info, and (though it don't seem it right now) it's probably a lot better having bad news & preparing for it, least we can deal with it a bit better when it comes. Oh, and you might as well tell us Nathan Blake is the guy we're lining up in case Benedict goes!
colbert Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 All this news about Annan, must mean only one thing.... he is not good enough. If he is and goes to Arsenal then so be it! Ther is really only one thing for it, Support Ince or not. we have only one option! From what i have gathered form various reports and comments Annan would be a Blackburn player buy now. He must not be goo enough!! Belive and you will prosper! (I dont think Andrews will be a good Signing though!)
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Wenger knows his players and can really spot a young talent. I feel we are going to seriously regret this opportunity.
DanLad Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I think Andrews be decent for the subs bench. I have seen him play in pre-season while visiting a mate. He has a very good engine, gets stuck in and has a swagger about him now as he was voted best player in the league and has been heavily linked with a premiership club. But he is NO WAY good enough for the first team. He is better than Mokoena, but then again so am i. Sav was never any good as an option from the the bench. In the scenario mentioned you're better with a someone who can close people down QUICKLY for 10 mins. Sav never did that and by the sounds of it neither ican this chap. Unless his 'swagger'will upset the likes of Spurs? Never seen him play mind!
colbert Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 No we wont, I cant belive even the worst manager could not see a good player, he must be bad!! Unless Ince didn't get on with the player or for some reason cant afford him! there is no other explination for it.
Bobby G Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 If Arsenal sign him and we gave him a trial and didnt, then all that means is Paul Ince is the new talent spotter of the century...Way to go. Ill believe Nicko as he has been proven right in the past on almost everything he has said. Rovers have lost it if they let him slip out of our hands. I would like to see what BS we will publicly say once it happens...
bob fleming Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Not good enough for us but good enough for Arsenal Colbert? Anyway, it'll all come out in the wash no doubt. One things for sure though. We ain't in a hurry to splash any serious money are we? Three weeks to go.
walk down bolton road Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 As it stands Annan is heading for Arsenal next week...to sign, not to trial. Unless he fancies one of the foreign clubs after him. Cheers nicko So he is good enough for Arsenal and Wenger but not good enough for Ince.I think i know who"s judgement of a player i would prefer and it"s not Paul Ince.
