If I'm old, I wonder what that makes you!!

I'm on about that if a player isn't an established Premiership star, you tend to not think they are good enough.

I don't think it's the comment from JW that's the problem Fife, it the fact we seem to have more or less agreed terms for a permanent transfer then seemingly bottled out, preferring to see if we could get away with a loan instead.

I know Souness wasted 7m on Grabbi seven years ago, but we're going to have to take one or two risks at some point.

I understand what you are saying RB, but with respect, that is irrelevant to what I am saying in my post you quoted. If what I propose had been applied it would still have encompassed the situation that you are describing.

I know very well that if all clubs adopted my suggestion as a matter of good business security, there would be a huge outcry and knashing of teeth from fans, media, Nicko, et al about not knowing what is going on, but there is a solution to this problem as well. Don't publish any info at all about potential targets; absolutely nothing until the moment they are publicly unveiled and already signed on contract. Then nobody would be able to get over excited or disappointed, but could "happily" await the various surprises.

I realise that all the fans and the media would be complaining bitterly at lack of info, and the rumour mills would be in full swing as never before. But let them all get on with it, no real damage could be done to the process of identifying, negotiating, and signing a player. The only risk would be the target player or their agent blabbing to the media, but that would be an easy one to identify and deal with.

all the signs regarding anthony annan while on trial seemed good-john williams also saying he did well..

he probably did feel alittle hard done by asking to come on loan because he probably thought he did enough to win a full time contract..

im not pleased with keith andrews-wonder if its possible if he could come on trial..why would ince want andrews??is it because he wants to do another friend a favour or does he seriously think he will be good enough??

the striker target doesnt sound too good from what nicko is saying...

Do you honestly think it would make much difference Fife?

I would imagine most of the rumours are started by agents these days.

I could back it up if I was arsed to go back to your old posts, but I can't think of a young or fringe player you've ever said was ready for the Premiership or going to be a good, or even serviceable player. Derbs, Gally, Annan, etc.

Not worth arguing with someone as stubborn as you, so I won't bother.

There haven't been any, have there? - Oh and the point about Annan, if you cared to read it, was that I don't think he could play in a 4 man midfield. Key words don't think and 4 man midfield. Not that he can't play at prem level.

I reckon you deserve a 25% warning for that Den, because that actually IS criticising someone personally. Mine was only a general comment in the way of advice more than anything and not aimed at any particular person.

Since when has criticising someone been against the posting guidelines Fife? There would be no-one left on the board if that was the case.

Just getting fed up with American's criticisms that he can never back up Fife.

desparately hope this has nowt to do with us but vassel may be on the move, his uncle charlie lives near us, but it was only a passing comment by him but considering inces love of past it strikers. on a side note nicko how much can i sell a story for, as vassells uncle is about the nicest person you could wish to meet but has been barred from 2 pubs for laughing too loudly, Some sunday rag could make a front page headline from this.

Larsson Wants Out

Watched the Birmingham game today. Poor game but I was concentrating on Larrson and the lad has quality. He has the ability to beat a man like Pennant but also his end product is very similar to Bentley's . It may not be as good as Bentley's but there is room for improvement. He would be a fantastic signing in my opinion.
