STRIKER - Watching Nicola Zigic at Valencia. Found out by accident. Stoke City went over to do the deal with Valencia and were knocked back, my Spanish source tells me they were informed that Rovers are the main rival...but only want him if Sunderland make a big offer for Benni. Hear mixed reports on this guy. He is huge, but some reckon he woud make a better basketball player. Still, it's not for me to judge. Rovers watched him play as a sub at Newcastle today. Don't know if he got on. Would have been hard to miss.

I do hope this is a "lost in translation" statement and we where really looking at that other Valencia chap Joaquin.. we have been linked with him a few times as well.. Its a position we need to fill.. and he would be ideal at this moment..

If it was Zigic we went to watch.. hopefull the scout would of noted Joaquin playing.. he apparently had a pretty good game (even if it was just one half).

Nicko, any idea who this is

The TV cameras caught him in the Director's box at SJP on Wednesday, but noone knows who he is...

Bafetimbi Gomis?

As for Andrews I really do fear the worst now. If we even contemplate selling Roque or Benni and bring in the clown Zigic we are...

Speaking of Andrews he was spectacularly average today in a 2-0 loss.

Do we think he will go for one or the other of Fowler or Andrews, or DARE to sign both and feel the fans wrath??

I think he'll go for both, after all, have we ever seen a bigger ego......who cares what the fans want?

I sincerely hope that the club have a plan B in case, as we all seem to be predicting, the sh!t hits the proverbial fan.

I hope and pray in certain times of desperation that Ince will have the last laugh over all of us and I will quite happily accept that I was wrong but come on, which other premiership manager would try and sign Andrews? really?! I can see the benefit of Fowler as an extra squad player with a seven sub bench but Andrews? Who is he going to replace?

He aint fit to wear the shirt Mr. Ince

Evening all...

Yes another Villa fan here been reading the site most the summer and enjoyed the read hope your not offended at us dropping in I'm not here to wind up or cause grief. Feel free to drop in to www.villatalk.com any time its always good to discuss stuff with other fans.

Anyway I see your linked with Zigic not sure he is the quality you would be hoping for we've been linked with him in the past so watched him a few times. He reminds me of Peter Crouch with less ability.

What do you folks make of the RSC rumours? Can't see it happening myself although we do need a striker but I suspect Ashton is our real target.

Not gonna happen so stop dreaming about it. After all the times Roque has come out and supported the club saying he wants to stay, denying any rift with the players and manager, why would he go? He's adored by Rovers fans and im 110% certain he'll be a Rovers player for many years to come!

I do rate RSC I think he is a very good player but honestly I'm not dreaming about signing him as I said before I think its pretty unlikely.

I actually hope for your clubs sake he stays after the summer we have had with Barry we know how it feels to lose a fans favourite. However as we have also found with Barry a player saying he wants to stay, denying rifts and being adored by fans means very little.

He might go because;

- Blackburn accept a bid off Villa

- He see’s Villa as having a more realistic chance of competing

- He doesn’t like the direction that Blackburn are going in i.e. with Hughes, Bentley and Friedel leaving the club

- Villa will pay him more money

- He will play European football next season

All stronger factors than 'loving the club', as I’m sure Brad Friedel will tell you.

He's said he wants to join Liverpool where as Roque has never said he wants to leave nor join another club. Big difference between the two.

I think you need to get out more, judging by the first par.

Zigic has been watched by everyone but seems to be causing a lot of interest at Rovers right now.

Andrews is more expensive than expected, that is why it was held up, but after close scrutiny of the options - Castillo and Annan - it has gone back to him. I still think there is some reluctance by the money men to make this a 'star' signing. But you HAVE to back the manager.

Otherwise there is no point in him being there.

Jack Walker blocked Dalglish from signing Thomas, so John Williams and the Trustees should put their foot down and block this one.

We've got Julio. No need to worry :rover:

I'm sure he'll bear that in mind if a bid gets accepted from Villa or United or whoever.

Like I said, Ince will NOT sell Roque. He has a major role to play for us next season and he knows that himself. Yes people may slag off Ince for signing Andrews and Fowler and whoever, but he aint stupid enough to sell our leading goalscorer and our best player is he?

I'm not saying that the two are identical I was just using Barry as an example of how players statements and actions are two very different things in modern football. I'm not having a pop or saying we are going to land RSC by any means.

Barry was very loyal to Villa until the Liverpool offer landed on the table then things changed, until a player has the opportunity you just never know how loyal they are. If teams like Villa or Spurs are interested you'll find out soon enough how loyal he is as we did with Barry.

Don't jump on the hate Ince bandwagon because of Roque, Villa are interested, what's new about that?? A lot of clubs have expressed an interested with him this summer and he is still at the club and will be come September.

The Keith Andrews thing has been going on for a while now, if Ince wants him that bad then there must be some good in him and I wish we would just sign him and get it out of the way, he's probably going to be better than Mokoena and since Reid's injury it won't take much to be better than him.

I admit I find it hard to believe that someone from league one could be good enough for us but maybe he's someone that has improved with age? I can't really judge because I haven't really seen him play much which I'm sure the majority of people on here haven't.

Whenver I've seen Zigic he's looked a decent player, good in the air and two decent feet, sure he might not be able to beat players but nor can Crouch and he's made a decent player of himself.

Didn't Arsene Wenger want Zigic as well?

Roque is going nowhere, he is happy at the club and it’s just the usual crap from the media trying to stir it up.

Such a decision would be managerial suicide by Ince so I really cannot see it happening.

I know what you’re saying, but there has been a precedent set this summer with Friedel and Bentley going. Now while the later going wasn’t a surprise, two of Rovers key players have left. So it isn’t beyond the realms of fantasy to suggest that RSC might go as well.

Granted it’s all just speculation at the moment, but what if the offer is 'too good to turn down' ala Friedel?

I agree actually it is likely to be just media crap there has certainly not been any ITK stuff doing the rounds on our forums that I have seen and there is normally something or other so highly probable I'd say.

As for Ince I agree but like MON with Barry if a player wants to go as you've found out with Bentley there is little you can do.

Sorry DD, there is nothing redeeming about Zigic- a very poor man's Peter Crouch's unco-ordinated older cousin.

And quite simply there is no way a top half Premiership club should even be contemplating a Keith Andrews signing.

As well as Dimitar Berbatov, Valencia's David Villa, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar of Ajax and Lyon's Karim Benzema are all on Sir Alex Ferguson's four-man hit-list of new Manchester United strikers. (PA Sport, 0924 BST)

Hmm, them or Roque, who would you have?

ALL OF THEM!!! lol and messi!!!

According to the July Fans Forum minutes.

Season ticket sales where down by about 2000 bla.bla.bla.

The way things are going Thaksin as more chance of his assets being unfrozen, as we have of matching last seasons sales.

The mind boggles, I have never been so confused about the type of players our managers have sought to bring in.

On todays game, was it the weather, or are the fans showing there discontent with Ince's appointment, and actions, by not turning out.

Mind you, since when did Ince give a sh!t what the fans thought of him.(WHU)

He has to have a chance, but he really is not making it easy for himself.
