Yes, I'm beginning to wonder if the purse strings are being held a little tighter than originally intended. The minimum priorities were supposedly, a right back, right winger and defensive midfielder. With 6 days to go we have a right back on loan. With all the money swilling around does PI have to prove himself before getting access to it? If so it's a chicken and egg situation. ( if his priority is Keith Andrews, that stance by the board would be entirely justified!)

I'm pretty sure there are money available but Ince is a bit restrictive using it. He's probably a bit overwhelmed by the transfer market and want to make sure he knows what he gets for his money. Every PL club is offered every player in the world and it must be very hard to separate the gems from the duds. It probably explains why he'll go down the familiar route with Keith Andrews.

I don't really have a problem with Andrews. Ince must be certain that he has something about him now that he's seen the Rovers squad in action. The midfield is lacking an all action midfilelder if Reid cannot rediscover his form. It all depends on the price. More than 1 mill must be too much for a League 1 player

Good point.

I didn't know Ziggy was 6'7". On the ground football looks to be a distant memory.

No problem with Andrews AT THE RIGHT PRICE. Sounds like we're going to play over the top simply because our manager has his eye fixed on someone and MK Dons don't have to sell. Well, move on then guys. I don't see you splashing out to sign an actually proven player, so don't do it for an unproven one.

I will back Paul Ince on midfielders as he was one of the finest around. Im sure he knows a good midfielder when he see's one. So far he has done 1 thing with our midfield and that is make Dunny vice captain, which most fans liked. Give him chance, give him time to get it right. Jesus Hughes got hammered 4-0 in his 1st game, lets be fair with Ince.

Il be at Everton next week, supporting Blackburn Rovers, supporting Paul Ince

On Andrews what we are saying is how can he be any better a player than what we've currently got when the criteria is we need better players in. His playing career so far doesnt suggest hed be better plus the standard required has to of International class or potential International class, that is if we are to remain competitive in the premier league.

Which begs the question do Rovers really want to remain competitive in the premier league .

So, every single player Hughes brought in, or Souness for that matter, was always brought in to be viewed as better than existing players? Berner? Henchoz? Ritgers? Even the big man himself said he bought Samba to strengthen the squad for the following season, but just proved to be a 'find' that took his chance and built on it.

What I don't get is this. If we signed Andrews, people are making him it to be a straw-camel-back-breaker, and it's all doom and gloom and another length of rope for the pitchforkers to lynch Ince with. However, if we signed Annan, that's okay - and the fact we're not looking likely too is another anti-Ince cross? Basically, if Annan came in and was poor, the detractors wouldn't be as vociferous as if Andrews was. However, flip the argument round, if Andrews came in and proved to be just what we was looking for, would his detractors admit they maybe were wrong to pre-judge?

I accept his track record isn't great, and certainly not inspiring. However, Reid certainly didn't look anything like a footballer (and still doesn't IMO) & what we need more than anything in that midfield is consistency, and if Ince feels Andrews is that man, then I'm willing to give him a chance. Seems most people on here aren't even willing to do that. Guess he's bound to be another Marmite signing like Sherwood, who got booed before he'd even had chance to do anything for us.

Apparently we are together with Stoke interested in him.

Yes I know, the point I was making was that nicko mentions a bloke who according to other reports is on the verge of signing on loan for Stoke, and all of a sudden the anti-christ Paul Ince apparently has us down as playing hoof - ball.

Start own the player and want to sell. They have big bids already in.

Stabaek do have a say as they are paying his wages. They are entitled to expect him to play in Europe this week.

Arsenal HAVE to move in fast - and that is why THEY have contacted Start through an agent they use a lot of the time.

Annan would rather NOT go to Arsenal as he would be in the squad and not playing in all probability. He wanted to come to Rovers, which is why he came over on trial.

My Norwegian source seemed to have been on the money about Annan going home from Rovers in a huff when they moved the goalposts and suggested a loan...and he assures me that the Arsenal thing is very real.

My Norwegian source also heard - and has been proved correct from calls I have made - that the manager wants Keith Andrews.

Is this the same Norwegian contact that said "Annan is heading for Arsenal next week...to sign, not to trial"? Although you haven't explicitly said it yourself, it now seems that if this Arsenal stuff is true he will be going on trial. If your contact was wrong about that is it not possible he is wrong about more?

Hey, I'm not anti Ince. I just wish he'd act and appear like he's in charge that's been my main point. Or we could all pretend everythings fine and we have no worries.

I'll probably have made my football decision in oh about a month. Then we'll see.

You again...sorted out that 'two loan players' garbage yet?

Wenger wants to see Annan in the flesh before he buys him. It will not be an extended trial, it would be for one day. If the player is happy with that arrangement it will happen...and that will be very soon.

Aha, just like Brian Kidd did in his first game at Ewood, when he wasn't supposedly in charge, running down from the stands like a madman, screaming & shouting at the players?Or stood there stock still, placid and measured a la Hughes?

Or maybe like a bull overdosed on testosterone chomping to get mating a la Allardyce? Or playing out some deranged, Ted Rogers 3-2-1 style hand signals on the touchline like a lunatic puppeteer a la Benitez?

So, what traits are you suggesting Ince displays that he's not in charge? Do you mean during a game, or off-the-field? Facts man, out with them, please!

There's nothing whatsoever wrong with having worries - I'd like to see a quality replacement in for Bentley in sooner rather than later, and am concerned that we seem to have cocked up the Annan thing.

But a lot of the stuff flying about is well OTT imo.

Nicko - you heard anything in Fletcher to Everton deal?

I think Smith is more likely...cheaper and available.

Love, Smith and probably Moutinho by the weekend. M'Bia possibly signing but I believe he is at the Olympics, so he would not sign in time.
