nicko Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Newcastle's local paper say Keegan hasn't given up hope of signings Warnock but the club will move for Taye Taiwo at £7.5 million if they can't get him. Where do the links with Sebastian Larsson to Blackburn come from? Because I've seen quotes from his agent saying Newcastle have had a bid rejected and that he wants to move there. I think the Warnock business is over...won't sell, don't want Duff. Larsson? No idea.

alexanders Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 We'll have someone at his game today. That is for sure. It isn't that I totally doubt what Nicko is saying, but with JW having said it in public, I can't see it not being true. I am going to the game. I'll give a good report back after game about whether I could see Ince or Rovers representatives and how Annan played.

philipl Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I am going to the game. I'll give a good report back after game about whether I could see Ince or Rovers representatives and how Annan played. Thanks Alexanders- will make interesting reading tonight.
Tom 1 Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Been reading about us possibly bidding for Roque Santa Cruz. There is a big rumour that we've bid or are going to bid for Dean Ashton as well though with supposed West Ham ITK's thinking theres something in it...would that be because MON doesn't think he could get RSC or just bullshit? Would he cough up for RSC?...would Blackburns board sell if the right price came in.
Roar of the Rover Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Would he cough up for RSC? Yes but pointless. would Blackburns board sell if the right price came in? Nope. Watching the Sunday Supplement and even they said Roque is a major player for us this season. We won't sell for anything over £40million. Still wanna bid?

hawkiiz Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 nicko. the spanish bid for Annan. is it accepted?
Roar of the Rover Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Of course we would if the price was right but thats gonna cost you 25M + upfront! Still think my valuation is more realistic. £40million
flintoff Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 blackburn obvisoly dont think he is good enough otherwise they would have brought him buy now
nicko Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 nicko. the spanish bid for Annan. is it accepted? No, he wants to go to England. The club will oblige...as long as the Arsenal offer is in the same region. Obviously if they put a sell-on in that could eventually become much more.
DingleBaiter Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I am going to the game. I'll give a good report back after game about whether I could see Ince or Rovers representatives and how Annan played. Is there a disabled section at the ground? Look in there for the Zimmer frames/pensioners & dafties, that will surely be our scouts (according to general consensus).
nicko Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 By the way, the Man City goings-on will make good reading in the papers tomorrow. Unbelievable.
philipl Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Being slightly more realistic, Rovers were in no need of selling even before Bentley went so for sure the club has zero financial requirements now. Conversely the stories are back circulating that the West Ham owners are in need of cash. Another pointer on Ashton is that he is "only" on £20k a week and was refused a pay increase at West Ham when finally restored to health last season. So I'd say Ashton is very much a realistic option if Villa bid something like £20m for him and pay £55k a week ie above Spurs on both counts. My fear if Villa do bid for RSC is not so much Villa securing him as triggering bids coming in from Man U and/or Arsenal. Then we would have a struggle to keep him.
Majiball Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Still think my valuation is more realistic. £40million I'm quite happy to go along with you on this one, Randy did say he would pay for a big signing!!! 40M it is then and 50% of any future sale.
DingleBaiter Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 By the way, the Man City goings-on will make good reading in the papers tomorrow. Unbelievable. Ironically, MH was on a double pager in the Observer straight batting it all. They must be rivalling Newcastle for comedy club of the Prem. Cheers for your insights on all the shenanigans there, it's entertaining & certainly a distraction. Just think what a jolly fine job you're doing, think you must be keeping the suicide rate in Blackburn down at least by indicating we're not as bad as the Moomins Hope to Beejaysus the Roque story is just fluff - think not only is he crucial to us from a football point of view, his influence in settling VillaNueva down will be immeasurable I reckon. Only downside I see to Roque is he's a Riversider.
Roar of the Rover Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 My fear if Villa do bid for RSC is not so much Villa securing him as triggering bids coming in from Man U and/or Arsenal. Then we would have a struggle to keep him. I don't think Arsenal will bid for him because Adebayor has pledged his future to the club. Gunners would only have bid for him if they lost Ade. Don't think Man U want him, Berbatov is on their main priorities list, if not they have Benzema, Villa and Hunterlaar. Roque would be last choice. He is the only player i'm not worried about losing at Ewood this season. Full credit to the guy he has come out and said there is no unrest in the dressing room and he is happy to stay at Rovers.
OscarRaven Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Been reading about us possibly bidding for Roque Santa Cruz. ...would that be because MON doesn't think he could get RSC or just bullshit? Would he cough up for RSC?...would Blackburns board sell if the right price came in. "We" don't need to bid for Roque, we already own his registration. I think your lost fella, I suggest you take your special acronyms and profanities elsewhere, perhaps a Villa forum instead of a Rovers one. Last thing this thread needs is more dross. Unless of course you have seen the blue and white light?
hawkiiz Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 No, he wants to go to England. The club will oblige...as long as the Arsenal offer is in the same region. Obviously if they put a sell-on in that could eventually become much more. ok. so the offer must have been totally foolish? Svein Mathisen want a public bid-war,but if the "bid" from spain was totally off (like 500k GBP) it might be wiser to say it has been NO bid? but if they want that value, and are waiting for arse, just to make the UK thing happen. why dont Start say they have bids on the table?
briansol Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 By the way, the Man City goings-on will make good reading in the papers tomorrow. Unbelievable. Nicko, do you think it will come to a point where Hughes will not put up with it and resign? I guess he'll have to swallow a great deal of pride to do so. It does amuse me to see Hughes' dream of money and "platform to match his ambitions", are crumbling to sand. It's like watching an ex realising that the grass isn't greener on the other side, while you're having fun with your new girlfriend which might not work out, but at least she's young and good looking

What does Sparky do? Quit and save face, say he was duped...or sit and wait for a pay-off that would probably never come? Tough call. I still find it hard to take in that someone as sensible as him was conned by the Mad City big talk. Sometimes you believe what you want to believe.

McAds Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 All I heard is that O'Neill is dreaming about having a go. I don't think it will happen, but I would be stupid to ignore the possibility of him throwing lots of money at this. I know how this story hit the paper on Saturday and thought it was wrong. However there IS interest from Villa - but no bid yet. As to how it came out...I had better keep that to myself. Is that a veiled message that the leak came from Rovers?
Sysagent Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I still find it hard to take in that someone as sensible as him was conned by the Mad City big talk. Sometimes you believe what you want to believe. Or perhaps he had no other option but to join them... He certainly wasn't going to be welcome back to the Rovers with open arms was he, and as for Chelsea well they showed their true intentions didn't they right from the offset I'd say. No I think Mr Hughes has made a BIG mistake in his career which undoubtly he will learn from like the rest of us do. I quote:- "You feel that sting, big boy, huh? That's pride FU**IN' with you! You gotta fight through that sh*t!

Or he had just had enough of Rovers and needed a change - I think the birmingham game last season totally deflated him - and took the first option out - he wanted chelsea but they did not want him so ended up at mad city.
