T4E Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 That would be the Luca Toni playing in Serie A aged 22? I give up answering silly questions after this one. I feel your pain. Almost as ridiculous as the Alonso debate, and on a par with Corluka.

Parsonblue Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Why? Andrews or Mokoena? Which one would you prefer? Mokoena everytime. People seem to forget how well Aaron played when he was given a prolonged run in defensive midfield when Savage broke his leg. Andrews is 28 and has never been near the top division. If Ince thinks he is good enough for a Premier League club that finished 7th last season then I really do question his ability to manage the Rovers. He is beginning to look more and more like Jim Iley with every passing day.

vintageadidas Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Andrews is better than Mokoena. I have watched Andrews once in pre-season this season and he is far better than Mokoena.
daren Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 actually, this could work out like Toto Schillachi (that old italian legend - part time footballer and petrol pump assistant one year, then a year with Juve and a world cup campaign). My objection is still the price - MK Don's have put a quite ridiculous number on him. Maybe we could do it for 500k and add-ons up to 2m Like one for international call up and 5, 10, 5 goals, and maybe a big one for winning the premiership

I think the step up for Ince has been too great, after watching fourth division football for a couple of years I think hes still got one eye on that standard obviously with his experience in the game he had a lead over his counterparts at that level but now hes in the premiership after a few years out hes definitely showing signs of not being in touch with whats required. Can see the viewpoint of fans saying give him some time, but its the players that are the most important thing to Paul Inces success right now and if hes looking to recruit unsuitable lower class players along with totally peeing most of them off then for me this is not the recipe for success and never will be. We need more players at the club who can win football matches at this level the more the merrier is Andrews one of them?.
Parsonblue Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 im going to be the only one laughing my arse off when/if andrews signs and he becomes one of our major player and perform amazing next season i have no clue how he plays and how he is nor to 90% of the people on this board so i don't think anyone should be jumping into the "Don't sign andrews" bandwagon when we don't know for sure how good he is and as nicko said, ince is the only one who knows the better between annan and andrews. I admit that I've only seen Andrews on one occasion. On that day a totally inept Accrington Stanley midfield actually made the MK Dons midfield look even worse. I don't need to watch Accrington Stanley players every week to know that I don't want them at Ewood Park and the same with Andrews. If he was so good wouldn't someone have picked this up before now? He's almost 28 and has been freed by Wolves and Hull City. I'm sorry, but he's not the creative playmaker that I had hoped we would be looking for. I thought the intention was to push on and build on what Hughes had achieved. I just don't see how Fourth Division players fit into that picture. During the past two seasons I have seen quite alot of Fourth Division football at Stanley - when Rovers have had Sunday games - and it is light years behind the Premier League. It is literally a different game. It's the reason I didn't want Ince and it's the reason I don't want Andrews. I just hoped that we would show more ambition after losing Hughes. Sorry if that is negative but it's the way I feel and talking to other supporters I don't think I'm alone in that belief. If Ince proves me wrong I'll be the first to hold my hands up and apologise but I really don't have a positive feeling about this season.
Parsonblue Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 mokoena has never played well in hes life he as got to be one of the worst players that i have ever seen in a rovers shirt You obviously didn't watch him during that period when he filled in for Savage and did a terrific job. You obviously didn't watch him when he first came to the club and helped us away from relegation.
S15 Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Of course he didn't. He was behind the bikeshed rolling a fresh biffer having just been introduced to the strong sh*t by Iccers.
Majiball Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 OK I want to add a different perspective to the Andrews debate. Talent with a ball is not the only attribute required to be a good player, many players fall by the wayside because they do not realise this. I've seen many a young hopeful not make the grade because he thought and would not be told that his talent is not enough. Kids make the grade and then get caught up in the lifestyle, other hobbies it can take over, and they fall by the wayside. Andrews is one of the youngest ever players to captain Wolves he burst onto the scene and by all accounts, looked a good prospect, you don't get the captains armband if your not. Is it not possible that he forgot what had propelled him there, got caught up in the fanfare. Youth's do have a tendency to think that the problem does not lie with them. Could it be that Ince got him back on track at MK Dons? I've seen him play once last season at swansea, he's busy, with a good passing range, and plays for the team. Other people have come into the game late from nowhere and done well, Guy Wittingham instantly springs to mind. Now I'm not saying he's gonna set the world on fire, its a big step up. Neither am I saying I support it, its also not the name that we the fans would want, Ince obviously rates him, he will live or die by these decisions.
S15 Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I'm down with that, as I always have been. I have only one concern really; It's not just Ince who lives and dies by his decisions, if you catch my drift.
Veevs Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 If Andrews is coming, I won't scream until the prize is £2+ Do you mean price is £2.00p

Hughesy Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 im going to be the only one laughing my arse off when/if andrews signs and he becomes one of our major player and perform amazing next season i have no clue how he plays and how he is nor to 90% of the people on this board so i don't think anyone should be jumping into the "Don't sign andrews" bandwagon when we don't know for sure how good he is and as nicko said, ince is the only one who knows the better between annan and andrews. My thoughts exactly mate. If there is one position I expect Ince to get it right then it will be in the middle of midfield. Yes he might sign andrews, but he may be signing as the replacement for Mokoena, and maybe for the same amount of cash as we recieve. How that is making us any weaker I fail to see. He has played in the same team as him, managed him and im sure he knows how good he is and if he is or is not good enough for the prem. People didnt really back Hughes with Nelsen, RSC, Samba, Ooijer etc and look how they turned out!
