DeadlyDirk Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Anyone seen the article from birmingham - Gold or Sullivan (Cant remember which now) feels that Sebastian Larsson owes them 12 months of loyalty! Ha ha what a muppet! Loyalty??? Can you please post in english please, I've never heard of that word in football. I wouldn't judge him on his time with us, mate. He's been in and out of the side and his already fragile self belief has been shattered. No disrespect to Blackburn, but he needs to make the step down and play reguarly to get the best out of him. No disrespect to Liverpool either but how many premiership titles have you won?

krislu Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 We can't stop other clubs from doing it and if they do there is nothing to suggest we'd sell anyway. Other than the fact that we have a history of selling our best players as soon as a bid ticks in to the rovers fax-machine.
nicko Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 He always says it! Its hedging your statement. No, it's called telling it like it is. I have said all the way through that I cant see any Villa move for Roque succeeding. However Villa have every right to try. If you knew how this story came out you would know why I believe it has legs.

No disrespect to Blackburn, but he needs to make the step down and play reguarly to get the best out of him.I agree with that completely, but the step down he needs to make is much much lower than where we are right now, and not many championship teams will be able to afford whatever ridiculous asking price is being bandied around.
Cally Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Loyalty??? Can you please post in english please, I've never heard of that word in football. No disrespect to Liverpool either but how many premiership titles have you won? So all trophies before 1992 are null and void? I meant in terms of expectations, etc. He lacks the self belief to really make his mark at a club that is expected to challenge for trophies. Just seems a bit overawed by it all. It's difficult to word it properly without sounding obnoxious.
ricsipontaz Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Oh come on! Pennant was hardly a top performer at Birmingham, the fans didn't rate him, similar to Liverpool! They got lucky when Liverpool paid for him. Pennant is on the decline, even Lennon would be a better shout than him. The best shout of all is Sebastian Larsson, a good crosser and a hard worker. Pennant has the least accurate crossing ratio in the premiership, lacks pace and has the skill of an orange. To top it off his personality is hardly endearing. My opinion is same with yours. Lennon and Larsson better then Pennant. Pennant is the worst RW in the PL, I think.
den Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 So all trophies before 1992 are null and void? It always rattles them that they have never won the Premier league and probably never will.
gazsimm Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Other than the fact that we have a history of selling our best players as soon as a bid ticks in to the rovers fax-machine. lets hope the fax machine is not working then!!!

There not null and void, it was just a bit of banter, but Pennant is a decent player not the fantastic player you seem to be making out, if he's that good why do you want to get rid of him. We are a club ourselves that are aiming for european places and some decent cup runs with the outside chance of winning one so if he's that overawed then he's not wanted at Rovers.
Cally Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 It always rattles them that they have never won the Premier league and probably never will. Whatever. I didn't come on here for a cock measuring contest. I just wanted to see if there were any updates on Pennant.

hawkiiz Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport...ing_over_Annan/ its gonna be an interresting night. however what i find funny is they are talking about a "two-day trial" how is that, nicko?? all sources say he came in on monday and got home on friday. must have been SOME flight delays then looking forward to the development.
AussieinUk Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 No, it's called telling it like it is. I have said all the way through that I cant see any Villa move for Roque succeeding. However Villa have every right to try. If you knew how this story came out you would know why I believe it has legs. Aww c'mon, I was trying to rock your boat! I enjoy some of the information you bring to this forum - I just wish that half the stuff was never true, as some on this forum go nuts!
Cally Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 not the fantastic player you seem to be making out Not sure where you got that from. But he's worth a lot more than the 3 million quid I've seen bandied about on here.
modes98 Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 You certainly know your stuff. Living in the midlands i know plenty of brum fans and i also have the pleasure of having a Liverpool supporting girlfriend and friends(one of whom lived in pool for last 3 years). If there is a topic i know a fair bit about it's the life and times of Jermaine Pennant. Not to mention the constant slagging the fans give him. Plsu if he was so good Liverpool would not be frantically trying to offload him, much like '£11m rated' Scott Carson. fragile self belief has been shattered. Fragile? Pennant could beat Bentley in an ego contest! Edit: £3m and I would be tempted to take a chance on him but I think he has had enough chances and won't be anything more than an average player who can turn it on every now and then.
gazsimm Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Whatever. I didn't come on here for a cock measuring contest. I just wanted to see if there were any updates on Pennant. we probabley waiting for liverpool to buy Barry, then we can ask for Pennant and Alonso (then i wake up)!!
Ewood and I Would Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Other than the fact that we have a history of selling our best players as soon as a bid ticks in to the rovers fax-machine. When was the last time we sold one of our best players that didn't have a clause/publicly state they wanted to leave or was in their twighlight years?
Cally Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Fragile? Pennant could beat Bentley in an ego contest! He's been a bit of a cock in his past, but he's been fine with us and has grown up a lot. Anyway, going on what you need and what's out there, I think he'd be ideal. You don't. Fair enough.

It was Ince who said it was a two day trial “I don’t think any manager would sign a player on just two days trial - unless they were Lionel Messi or someone like that! “We need to look at players. We are not just going to waste money."
Cally Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 we probabley waiting for liverpool to buy Barry, then we can ask for Pennant and Alonso (then i wake up)!! You'll be waiting a while then. The Barry deal was doomed from the start as the manager seems incapable of making a decision on Alonso, eventually pricing him out of the market. Once it was obvious that he was staying, paying all that money for Barry was ridiculous.
